Since version 2.0.0 the mod now uses Address Library for SKSE Plugins. The mod should work on all versions newer than 1.5.39, but keep in mind that I officially support only the latest version (1.5.97). Please do not report issues if you're using an older version.
SkyUI and SSE Engine Fixes (with MemoryManager patch enabled) is highly recommended.
The mod comes with an .ini file that allows you to customize every aspect of the mod. It can be found here: Data/SKSE/Plugins/SkyrimSoulsRE.ini For example, you can disable the movement in menus if you don't like it, enable slow motion, set certain menus to be paused, etc.
Movement in menus using keyboard/mouse: Use WASD (or whatever you have movement mapped to) to move around and your mouse to navigate the menus. The menus itself will not react to WASD buttons. Move the mouse to the edge of the screen to rotate the camera (like in dialogue menus).
Movement in menus using controllers: The following changes will apply: - Use the left stick to move and the D-pad to navigate in the menus. Make sure you're not using mods that disable the D-Pad navigation in menus. - If you also enabled the camera move setting, use the right stick to move the camera. To rotate items in inventory, press on the right stick to maximize the view first. - If using SkyUI, use LB and RB buttons to change categories in the favorites menu. If you like the movement in menus, and wish to extend this to the Dialogue Menu, check out Dialogue Movement Enabler.
Change the location of some hooks to reduce false positives in crash-logs.
Disable movement in crafting menus (prevents player from leaving the crafting station when a MessageBoxMenu is open which causes CTD)
Fix Map Menu clouds not moving or jittering.
Fix child worldspaces showing up in the parent world map in Map Menu.
Fix for newly loaded cells showing up as black squares in Map Menu
Changed the method some of the other Map Menu issues are fixed, so it is more reliable.
The Map Menu marker now always shows the correct player location in real-time.
Auto-move now possible in Map Menu.
Fix for keyboard layout/language not updating properly when changed.
Improved way to disable background blur.
Improved the thread-safety of the mod when doing UI tasks.
Menu instance caching - can reduce the stuttering when opening menus, noticeable with some of the heavier GUI mods. This is highly experimental and disabled by default.
Lots of internal changes.
1.6.1130 and newer only: fixed CTD when serving time in jail
1.6.1130 and newer only: fixed RemoveAllItems not working
I hate to come to a mod page and start complaining, but I'm very frustrated. I'm an older gamer and my twitch reflexes are slow and I have a lack of desire to use keyboard & Mouse, to include most hotkeys. I've transitioned to controller only gaming, specially with Skyrim.
With that said, I'm finding this mod (I had to ask a mod collection community what mod was unfreezing game play when in my journal menus). Now I'm trying to figure out how to undo some of the immersion features of this mod, so I can go back to the older play style of clunky menu navigation and not getting killed in the process as I hunt for what I'm wanting to do.
I get to this in the About area of this mod and I'm "Huh? Where? What?" I'm not an experienced mod troubleshooter. If & when things don't work, I'm usually SOoL.
"INI settings: You can enable or disable any menu you want in the provided ini file, as well as other settings (movement in menus, slow motion, etc.) Every .ini setting has additional comments to make it easier to understand what it does. Reporting issues: The mod is still in development, and I'm interested in all issues you find. Please let me know if you find something.'
Will someone please guide me to the settings and give detailed instructions to what I need to change in order to refreeze gameplay when I'm in my journal menu?
Thanks.
I'm also concerned with simply "deactivating" this mod as the collection I use has 3k mods. I have no idea what is and is not dependant on this mod to function and do not want to fubar my collection install.
- I looked for Articles on this mod and ini settings, but couldn't find any. - I don't see a "provided ini" in the files secion - I will go d/l the file manually (or look it up in my archive) to see if there is an ini file within and read it in hopes of clear commentary within.
** REQUEST: To author. Despite my complaining, I do see this as a wonderful deep immersion mod. It just isn't a good fit for me, as I'm too slow to take advantage of it in combat. Plus if I'm not VERY carful or mindful in dialog, my character will move around. PLEASE create an MCM menu to turn on/off various features.
This mod for the most part should be perfectly fine to disable in a collection as it has next to no mods that depend on it. It shouldn't mess anything up. Also the collection will probably tell you it is incomplete or that dependencies are unfulfilled, (If you use Vortex, don't know about MO2 as I don't personally use it) but it's actually just fine. Although it's an eyesore on the Vortex UI.
Also, to access the settings of the mod, assuming you use Vortex, Right Click on the mod in Vortex and Open in File Manager, it should take you to the mod's file. from there you need to go into the SKSE file within, then access the INI/Configuration file. The top group of settings should contain the setting you are looking for, simply set it to "false", and you're good. Make sure you save the file before closing.
ElectricMessiah, i totally get ya i had the same trouble. I explain a couple of posts up from yours the file path you need to take to get to the ini file that you need to edit. But i will copy here :)
DO NOT DO THIS WHILE THE GAME IS RUNNING :P
1. You want to go to your skyrim game files to edit the behaviour of mods. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data\SKSE\Plugins
Whichever drive your Skyrim is installed on will be the beggining of the path it may not necessarily be C (sorry if im over explaining i dont know your tech skill). Dont go through the shotcut that vortex gives you to view the mod in file explorer, as that shortcut take you to the mod staging folder and editing any files here will not actually effect the behaviour of mods in game.
2. Once there you will see all the files for all the plugins. Scroll until you find SkyrimSoulsRE.ini
3. open the ini in notepad.
4. In this file you will see all the different menus in a list with either the value of true or false. True means the menu does not pause gameplay. False means the menu does puase like vanilla skyrim always used to.
5. Set to false all the menus that you want gameplay to pause for when you go into them.
6. Save the file and close.
A word of warning not just to you put to anyone reading this. I see you are using about 3000 mods, (i assume that big a collection at this time is the GTS LOTD AIO?) you likely have other mods installed that need time to not be paused to work as smooth as possible without issues. Not game breaking issues but issues. For exmaple immersive hunting, uses a menu it requires time to be able to pass for the animations and "time passing" feature to work smoothly. It will still work if you have these sorts of menus paused but can get janky i found. I just stopped immersive hunting from using animations and time passing to fix this. Any mod that needs time to pass to run smoothly may not "require" this mod but it definitely helps to have it around.
My suggestion, you say you want the menus to pause so you can keep up in combat (so do I). Just for combats sake set to false the favourites menu, the magic menu, the bTweenMenu, and the inventory menu. Maybe the map menu. Leave the rest as default.
A note to those who are modding noobs like me, the ini file that you want to edit is found in your Skyrim Game files, not in the mod files that Vortex takes you to. I couldn't figure out why the changes i was making weren't doing anything.
So you want to go here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data\SKSE\Plugins
Not here: C:\Users\*yourprofile*\AppData\Roaming\Vortex\skyrimse\mods\Skyrim Souls RE - Updated (Anniversary Edition)-27859-2-4-0-1708891708\SKSE\Plugins
@vermunds can you please make this clearer by using the full file path in your stickied post:)
As brilliant as this mod is, I'd much prefer to be able to still use the bumpers/triggers to equip weapons in the favourites menu and instead use the dpad to switch tabs (as far as I can tell, there's nothing else being used for them). Is there any way to edit the ini file to change this?
+1 I use shoulders instead of triggers to attack and block. Moving between favourite tabs with L1+R1/LB+RB means I can't equip anything in a favourites menu. It would be great for me to be able to change it to L2+R2/LT+RT or, even better, the freedom for someone to map it to anything their heart desires for everyone to play around with
a "bug" that I continuously have is if I read several books the background gets gradually darker up until it's pitch black but I'm not sure if that's a bug or not
Edit: The bug seems to do with the blur setting. Change that option to
bDisableBlur = true
and the issue goes away (along with menu blurring). =================== I have the same bug, and it's not just books. Opening up any other menu inside inventory or magic menu causes this.
I also have Wheeler, and if I open the edit menu too many times, I get the same bug.
There is, but I think it would be very difficult for you to use it. Because you need the ability to read elementary school equivalent English. But if you want to give it a try, read the MOD description, and hopefully you will notice that there are instructions about a config file for exactly what your trying to do.

Maybe I'm editing the wrong ini, idk, kinda still new to modding Skyrim despite all these years going by
