Hey gamers, I made some fixes to fix some of the issues that I have (and many others by the looks in the comments)
- fixed: height only adjusting on the first time your boots are equiped/unequiped - fixed: height update not triggering with some modded boots (used to check 'Armor Boots' or 'ClothingFeet' in keys words, now checks for armor equipped to slot 37 / boots slot)
I've tested this with Racemenu heels, Smoothcam, and Improved Camera. Let me know if there are issues.
I tend to agree, it's not working for me either... there are a few other mods out there claiming with do the same thing, adjust the 1st person view camera height, NONE of them works for me... I don't think it's working at all... I suspect it's a much deeper setting that a mod can fix...
there is no way to adjust it with the console commands on PC... I think the OG devs at Bethesda overlooked this aspect and left it unfinished and unpolished... and I don't think any mod can fix it... I hope someone will prove me wrong, and if they do, I'll buy them a coffee or beer on me...
it needs skse check if you have that. If not install and it should fix. just installed mid save and it applied immediately. If using MO2 it might not work if using vortex then it should install and launch through it after setting the skse launcher as primary.
is this mod still maintained now, in Feb 2025..??..people like me are still playing Skyrim with mods in 2025
I've been looking for this mod since I started, and I just downloaded it and installed on PC with MO2, however, is not working for me, nothing happens, the 1st person view is still low for my imperial, while I changed his scale to higher (only 1.2) , to fit a Dragonborn slayer of dragons
yet, in 1st person view, the eyes view is the same as before, especially when talking to NPCs is annoying me, high elves look down on me, while in 3rd person view, they look up at me
what can I do...I'm not using the race menu, nothing fancy, not skse64 - 'cause MO2 it gives me errors on install
well I have a serious problem with skse, I cannot make it work
I'm using MO2 and will not install skse, telling me is not set up properly and won't work
I'm on PC, via Steam, and there is a skse via Steam tools, which I've installed, but even so, if I hit "Play" via Steam directly - on skse - it tells me no license found, and it won't start anyway
then, I launch the Skyrim game itself via MO2, since it's managing all the mods I have, but we go around and around, like in a catch 22, MO2 will not install skse, and as such when launching the game launcher for Skyrim, I assume skse is not active
bottom line, for me skse is not working, via Steam won't work, via MO2 won't work either
but, I really would like to make this mod in particular work, it's extremely annoying to me in 1st person, while my character is size 1.2 - not too tall, but not too short either - the high elves, notoriously tall, they look up at me, at my eyes, while I'm in 3rd person, yet, when I'm in 1st person they look down at me... same with some Nords that are taller and so on and on... it drives me crazy really...
maybe I'm doing something wrong handling skse, but sorry to say for the creators of it, skse is not easy, self-intuitive to install and make it work... and I have no time, no patience, no energy to do mods and files micromanaging, I just wanna play the game 1-2 hrs if I have the time, not to spend 1-2 hrs managing mods
yet, this particular mod is exactly what I need, but don't know how to make it work
Drop the files from SKSE directly into your Skyrim folder, the one where the Skyrim.exe is found. Just open the zip with 7zip or something and drag everything into the Skyrim Special Edition folder (steam/steamapps/common/Skyrim Special Edition). ONLY start Skyrim using SKSE_loader.exe. Make certain you have the SKSE that matches your Skyrim edition (right-click on SkyrimSE.exe, properties, details tab). If you use MO2, I know little of other mod managers; open the executables and add SKSE_loader.exe.
If you don't use a mod manager, get one; modding Skyrim without a mod manager requires extensive knowledge of how Skyrim works and a very specific order of operations to install mods properly while reducing conflicts.
A thousand and more resources are available that describe how to use and properly install SKSE.
From there, there are literally, dozens of script extenders available on Nexus, I have about 43-44. They all extend SKSE's ability and many are required by a lot of mods and nearly every mod that uses Papyrus scripts to accomplish their tasks.
One last thing: there are two rules to Modding Skyrim. The first rule is to read every word of the mod page. The second rule; read every word of the mod page.
thanks for following up with me on this and for the detailed explanation...
I'll try to "install" it using your guide and see how it goes... I've been using MO2 from the start, from the very first mod I installed, because honestly, I don't want to spend time micromanaging files and mods, I want to play...
long hours - which I don't have - can be sunk in managing files, hours that I prefer to play the game in fact...
even doing the steps you described, means micromanaging, and I don't understand why do I have to do this manually, why the mod itself won't install in the proper way, to the proper folder, or why the MO2 won't do it... if it's such a popular mod, and it's such required by other mods, and it's so great to improve the gameplay experience, why is it not so great in installing itself properly... why do I have to do it manually, especially considering I might not do it properly...
but, I'll give it an honest try and I'll put in my best effort to make it work... we'll see how it goes...
If only this had an MCM or hotkey to reapply height on the fly because first person camera resets to default on loads or even after random animations and it sucks opening race menu every 3 minutes to fix it
Wrong. The player is taller and looking down, so the viewing angle behing her is larger (she's blocking less of the view),That is why you can see more of the wood post.If you were two or three times taller (with no ceiling) you would be able to see the whole post.
For people who can't get this mod to work, here's a 100 percent guaranteed fix.
Get this mod.
Get XP32.
Get Fk's diverse racial skeletons.
Get Racial body morphs SE.
Using a combination of these mods, my first person camera height now matches up perfectly, whether I'm a tall Altmer or a short Bosmer. PS: I'm not actually sure if XP32 is essential for this, you can try the 3 other mods alone to see if it works. If not, I'd add in XP32.
SO this mod doesn't work anymore for taller characters but I think I found a workaround. RaceMenu has a height slider, I made my character 1.04 and in first person, he was noticeably taller than everyone he spoke to. I needed this mod for that to work though, RaceMenu alone didn't seem to actually change the camera height.
So, this mod combined with RaceMenu's height slider should be a fix for taller characters to match their third person height in 1st person.

It's the whole mod repacked though? it's just the new script we need though right?

Personally, I download it from skse.silverlock.org and install it manually.

Good Luck

also, is skse really necessary? its not crashing my game and it appears to be working for me without it.
