No, it just so happened that this mod hadn't been updated in ages and when it was, this was the current setup for the game. It wasn't to "stick it" to anyone. I'd argue those people who are refusing to update are the ones attempting to "stick it" to the mod authors.
Hi Arthmoor, can't remember if I already asked, but I don't see a comment from me on this page, so I'll assume I didn't. This mod looks great, but I'm using a fully updated version of Skyrim VR, which essentially means the version with CC plugins as masters would not work for us, but the version that was compatible for 1.5.97 would work for all of us, could you repost it? It would help out the players who still like playing on 1.5.97 too, everybody wins.
Edit: I made the file for personal use, all I did was open the plugin in xedit and select clean masters on the plugin (after making dummy CCplugins to force vortex to let me deploy the file and then open xedit). The only master the file uses is Skyrim.esm, so its totally okay to just update the file to not need CC content. I could post it as a patch if you'd let me
I don't understand why people are so afraid to update their game. lol
At this point almost every mod has been updated to AE, unless you're using a very obscure mod...
The free content will not hurt your game, and you can use mods to make that content even better like Skyrim Extended Cut, Simple Fishing Overhaul and Voiced Narrative.
@AlanBlackSnow: we aren't afraid, we often just have huge modlists built up over the years and it's an unnecessary amount of work to update just for some unimmersive or badly implemented CC mods. The game updates themselves don't add anything of value to the game, it's just the same buggy mess at its core while breaking loads of mods. So there is a legitimate reason why many people want to stay at unofficially established game versions like 1.5.97. If Bethesda ever actually made a definitive FINAL game version that actually fixes and improves everything that people have been fixing for them over the years I might consider updating but that will most probably never happen.
Also, I got myself the fishing and curios cc because I actually like those. But, for instance, the base fishing cc is just bad and needs several mods to make it enjoyable. Official survival mode is boring and shallow, and Saints & Seducers is intrusive and annoying. I don't even want to start on the paid AE update...
That logic doesn't hold though. The 1.6.x branch of the game did more than just add some free DLCs - that's a disingenuous argument.
It also introduced a number of good optimizations behind the scenes that make the game more stable and perform better. Never underestimate compiler optimizations. Plus Bethesda HAS fixed some stuff even though it may not be the exact things you want fixed.
All in all there's no real reason not to update your game. The anit-update hate train should have crashed and burned on reddit where it began.
I really don't get it either. THe only thing that makes sense is something I heard in my intro to psych class, that being that some people not only dislike change, they are actively scared of it. It's almost like a form of OCD.
Once the quest is completed with the sapling option, the timer starts the next time you change locations and that location isn't Whiterun. So it shouldn't matter when you install the mod.
Thanks, I meant with the quest having already been completed many in-game months ago. But the mod presumably starts the timer when it is installed, not references when you completed the quest.
(Sorry if this is a dumb question, I don't really know much about how mods function on the back end. But thanks for getting back to me so fast!)
The only thing USSEP does is make sure the dead tree doesn't remain behind to interfere with whichever outcome you go for.
In vanilla, the sapling remains a sapling for the rest of the game. That's not a bug. That's just how Bethesda wanted it. I wanted the tree back to full size eventually so I wrote this little mod to do that.
You could always remove masters in xEdit if you feel it is safe to do so, but at this point is there still any reason not to update at least to a version after 1.6?

i also can't find previous version so now i have no choice but to disable it
Good mod though.

Thanks for all that you do to make my Skyrim experience ever better and ever changing :)
Hap
Does this work with Open Cities?
A quick question; if installed mid-playthrough, does the six month timer begin on installation?
Thanks!
