Its actually up to one flag "overlay Head Part List" if flag is enabled (enabled by default in vanila). U can change ur eyes in racemenu but game will revert to default by trying to overlay default vamp look to your new look it might even lead to double eyes. if disabled , game wont attempt to do above and u can have ur eyes in any way u want race->vampclasses() flags This mod only gives u more choices.
And how would I be able to do that please? I am relatively new to modding so I'm trying to have my vampire not return the original look each time I reload. If you know of a mod that fixes, please let me know.
This comment is a few months late but I was able to figure it out and get it working for me so I'm leaving the steps I took on how to do this here in case anyone needs it later
1. Open Creation Kit
2. Click the "Load Master/Plugin Files" button. It's the open folder with the arrow icon
3. I set Skyrim.esm, Update.esm, Dawnguard.esm, Dragonborn.esm, and Hearthfire.esm as active files. The last two DLCs are probably not needed as active files but I set them anyways. If using a custom race set that mod's plugin as an active file. Creation Kit usually doesn't allow multiple active files though I use "SSE CreationKit Fixes" by Nukem which I think is what lets me set multiple active files. Not sure how to go about this step without the fixes granted I never really used CK without them
4. Find the vampire race your character is using. For example "NordRaceVampire". Just search up "(Racename)RaceVampire" in the filter option and it should come up
5. Double click on the vampire race and it should open up a menu titled "Race". Locate the "Face Data" section and the "overlay Head Part List" should be there. If it is ticked as enable then click it to disable it
6. Click "OK" and exit Creation Kit, save changes when prompted
7. Launch Skyrim with this mod installed and see if it works
This is what worked for me and my character is able to have the eyes I originally set back without it resetting to the default vampire eyes or without clipping. If by chance this doesn't work for anyone else then sorry to say but I can't offer much help outside of what I wrote here. I'm not much of a modder I just messed around in the CK until I found the flag IcemanSR mentioned, but good luck to you if you're still having trouble
Worked like a charm, Thank you kindly TashyJ for the detailed explanation
For people with MO2, click the tiny wrench and screw icon near the Active: field and press "Create empty mod", name it whatever, then right click on the mod you just created and click "Open in explorer", drag & drop the ESP you saved from creation kit into the folder that opened. Then you right click the mod again in MO2 and press "Ignore missing data" and then activate it in both the mod list and plugins.
I want to add that "SSE CreationKit Fixes" by Nukem currently doesn't work with CK steam edition but there is a replacer Creation Kit Multiple Masters Fix that works.
I can't set base game Master Files as active. A window is opened and It says that I can't. What do I do?
Update: It worked! Thank very much! I also want to warn people that you need to disable this mod "Vampire eye unlocker" and in my case I didn't need to set the master files as active files. Though I had "Creation Kit Multiple Masters Fix" and I tried set all of them as active, to me was shown a window saying that I can't set base game Master Files as active. I tried to set them all as active, as TashyJ said, but popped up a window saying that I couldn't set as active, then I just proceeded to do everything else TashyJ said and installed the plugin with MO.
Thanks, while I find the creation kit to be a clunky mess, I've managed to follow your instruction with SSEdit and it worked. boggles my mind how does someone make a mod about unlocking vampire eyes without a single mention of this auto eyes reset issue.
Coming here to add my voice to the crowd and say it works flawlessly. I had to deactivate Vampire eye unlocker and create an empty mod just like someone said here in the comments, but once I edited it and activated both in the left panel and the plug-ins list it worked perfectly. I also put the newly created mod at the bottom of my list.
It's WILD that the real answer to the race editing issue is here all along and somehow nobody posted this as an actual mod in years that this has been known, it's shocking. Thank you so much
I uploaded this fix on the nexus, so you guys can save time and just download ready to go file. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/130290?tab=description
Breton vampire eyes bug(Breton female's eyes is not changed) is fixed temporarily. but when I opened showracemenu or restart game, eyes will return to normal from vampire eyes.
For anyone new coming in here, sadly the bug reports have been closed, but the sad truth is that the mod does allow you to choose all the eyes, but they get reset everytime you load the savegame, so yeah. The mod author has closed all the legitimate bug reports without actually doing anything to fix this non functioning mod sadly.
That doesn't have anything to do with this mod. That's a commonly known bug in the game. The only way around it is to save the change close the game and re open it. It happens with all eye mods for vampire across the board.
