Greetings, traveler! Khajiit wishes for you to browse this clever modification. You will download and utilize it in your playthrough, yes? Trust in Khajiit, he would not lie! This is known...
his is a complete reboot of the awesome Khajiit Speak SE mod by Matt Harper (mjharper), re-written from the ground up. The original mod is NOT REQUIRED for this, nor is it a master. This is a completely new mod!
That said... Welcome to the Bad Ass Khajiit Speak Redux mod!!! WHOOOOOOOOO!!!
What does it do? I'm so glad you asked!! It "translates" the game's dialog responses from common tongue phrases to more immersive Khajiit-focused phrases, tapping into their unique voice dialect and mannerisms.
The Khajiit have a strange way of talking to others, mostly using third-person phrasing. Additionally, they have other quips and mannerisms that I feel should be captured through the dialog interactions with NPC's... and that is what this mod sets out to accomplish!
The main file is for Skyrim SE, Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn. So if you are planning a Khajiit playthrough, all you need is the main file inlcuded here and the Vanilla game (plus the expansions).
However, I have created a bunch of patches for several other mods that I use as well, which are included in the main file FOMOD installation tool. These additional files are all in ESL format!
April 13th, 2023: Optional File
- Updated the Khajiit Will Follow mod. I had several inconsistencies with the file structure of KWF. This is now compliant with version 4.6.5. Please see the optional download section for this specific patch.
January 16th, 2023: Update File (v 5.3.1)
- Update Changes (Select the MAIN mod version that you installed and merge when prompted). Delete or hide the patched that you aren't using.
- MAIN file fixes. A few more inconsistencies fixed, along with a few new errors from Dawnguard.
- Expanded Towns and Cities SE Version - Riverwood. The whole thing was rebuilt from ground up.
- Expanded Towns and Cities SE Version - RESOURCES. Changed master from ESM to ESPFE. Thank you Irwine!
- LOTD - Safehouse Plus. Removed from the support list (integrated into LOTD main mod). Thank you Irwine!
- Legacy of the Dragonborn SSE. Re-fixed the stash supply message! Thank you TeainaCoffeeMug!
- Tons of dirty edits that were causing patches to cause issues:
- Interesting NPCs SE (3DNPC)
- Kaidan 2
- Kaidan 2 - Extended Edition
- LOTD - [Merge] Weapons Armours Merged
- Serana Dialogue Add-On
- Tactical Valtheim
- Wyrmstooth
December 10th, 2022: Main File (v 5.3)
- FOMOD Changes:
- I have now eliminated the KOT option from the installs. All version will have KOT changes included.
- If you dislike this feature, feel free to load up all the mods in xEdit and remove all messages and game settings.
- FOMOD now works properly for ALL downloaders (whether MO2 or VORTEX).
- FILE changes:
- With the removal of KOT, all addon name have also had the "~KOT" suffix removed. This will cause a warning to be displayed upon loading a saved game that previously had the suffix present. Please continue your load and make a fresh save once in game. This should not adversely effect your save or current game.
- CREATION CLUB additions:
- I have now converted all CC addons that effect dialog and messages.
- Where possible, I used the changes made by the Khajiit Speak - Creation Club and Misc. Mods by FleurDuSoleil3 mod, and then filled in the blanks with the remaining addons.
- As always, the FOMOD will detect whether you have these installed and automatically select them for installation.
- The CC group has its own page now. Since there are 38 of them, I figured that they deserved their own page. :)
- BUG FIXES:
- The Kaidan series has now been fixed with the proper version included.
- I have updated all Kaidan mods to their latest level according to the website (https://kaidanmod.com).
- I have eliminated any addon mod that was not supported by the Kaidan website.
- Khajiit Will Follow is now fixed. Thank you to Lyosha92 and RedstoneNuker for their feedback and specifics on this.
- Other various grammar and spelling mistakes that just keep cropping up. I 'm sure I have most of them sorted now. Thanks, again, to the many people that report these to me in DM's and Bug Reports!
November 18th, 2022: Main File (v 5.2.1)
- Quick patch to fix a few install errors:
- Missing files in the folder structure (some of these were actually there, but misnamed in FOMOD.
- Fixed issue with Vortex installs (hopefully).
- Some mods were being grayed out that were still present / active in the load order. Corrected.
- Some mods were not being auto-checked by the plugin conditionals properly.
- Fixed a couple last-minute verbiage things in the MAIN KSR file.
OLDER UPDATES:
November 18th, 2022: Main File
- ANOTHER HUGE HUGE HUGE UPDATE!!
- This version has been upgraded to work with SKYRIM AE. I haven't noticed any direct changes from SE to AE that should break your games. That said, if it does break, you will need to keep version 5.1 of some of these mods - and then trail/error upgrade the ones that aren't affected by the update. I don't know which ones are and are not broken by the upgrade. Sorry.
- Main File (v5.2) changes:

July 10th, 2021: Main File
- HUGE HUGE HUGE UPDATE!!
- Almost every file has been altered in some way, shape, or form!
- Main File (v5.0) changes:
- All known bugs have been fixed. Thank you to whickus and Ketsuban for reporting their findings!
- I combed through every line of dialog (again) and found many grammatical errors that I missed before.
- Hopefully I've nipped all the grammar in the bud this time!
- But I will likely find more in time. 190,000+ lines of dialog is a bit hard to "sift" through. :)
- All PNAM references have been corrected in the Main mod.
- Standardized all responses between the Main mod and subsequent mods.
- Fixed more NPC dialog that was wonky.
- The Main file is now available in ESPFE format! *** USE WITH NEW PLAYTHROUGHS ONLY ***
- FOMOD Updates:
- Complete FOMOD rebuild, from the ground up!
- All ACTIVE mods will now be auto-selected.
- All INACTIVE, but INSTALLED mods will be unchecked, but able to be added during installation.
- All MISSING (NOT INSTALLED) mods will be greyed out. This includes any mods that have dependencies.
- Fixed an issue with FOMOD crapping out. It doesn't like symbols like "&", "<", or ">". Two culprits were found:
- I had named "Moon and Star" as "Moon & Star" in my list of mods.
- "Complete Alchemy and Cooking Overhaul" had to be limited during install to an "optional" mod, because the main ESP is named "Complete Alchemy & Cooking Overhaul. esp" and I cannot reference check for it because of the "&" symbol! All this means is that you will have to click the check box yourself to load the KSR/KOT mod, if you use this mod. This is the only mod that is affected like this. All other mods should auto-check properly!
- Other Mods:
- Changed YOT to "KOT" (Khajiiti Own Thoughts).
- All KOT mods will either integrated into the specific mod, or loaded separately during install.
- All KOT mods are designated with a "~KOT" added to the end of the mod name, before "_PATCH".
- All KOT changes are not only for 1st person thoughts, but also for other interactions, popups, and game settings.
- Tons of new supported mods added, including a few big ones! See the complete list of mods below.
- "Lexy's Legacy of the Dragonborn: Special Edition Modding Guide" support added (May 21st, 2021 changes)!
- All LOTD mods will have that "LOTD" prefix added to the name.
- BE SURE TO MANUALLY SORT THESE TO THE BOTTOM OF YOUR LOAD ORDER!
- Visit the guide for yourself: Lexy's LOTD SE Guide
- All Mods:
- I've standardized some more things that I saw a wide variety of actions being taken for:
- The use of * or { } have been eliminated for describing actions. All perceived actions are now within parenthesis:
- Vocalized actions are always in lower-case:
- *Sighs* ---> (sighs)
- {Hard Breaths} ---> (breathes heavily)
- Verbalized actions are always in upper/proper-case:
- {Grabs the reigns} ---> (Grabs The Reigns)
- *Screams for help* ---> (Screams For Help)
- Double quotes " " are reserved only for when someone repeats something heard or said.
- Billy told them, "No!"
- I did what the book instructed: "Close the door after entering the room."
- Single quotes ' ' are used for expressing emphasis on a word that is NOT meant as it's proper definition.
- They claim to be "friends" of the Thalmor. ---> They claim to be 'friends' of the Thalmor.
- I will take care of the bandits. ---> Khajiit will 'take care' of the bandits, yes.
- The use of numbers in sentences for anything other than money have been converted to words.
- "They have been there for 200 years." ---> "They have been there for two-hundred years."
- "Bring me 13 samples." ---> "Bring me thirteen samples."
- "7,000 steps sounds like a lot." ---> "Seven-thousand steps sounds like a lot." (numbers should never start a sentence, it just looks odd)
- Some cases were still left alone: "There are only 947 steps, friend. Khajiit counted twice."
- Added a picture of the list of mods that have now been converted, including the various # of dialog lines changed!
- Spoiler alert... it is JUST shy of 60K (59,984 lines to be exact)!!
- Total mods now converted / supported / merged from other authors = 111! BOOM! (drops mic)
March 1st, 2021: COMMENTS
- Created a F.A.Q.!! Please see the sticky at the top of the comments section for more info!
January 5th, 2021: Main File
- Considerable fixes to the main ESP. The PNAM references were not built (because I never loaded my changes into the CK to build them), and I had used some scripting to auto-fill any missing PNAM's with a NULL reference. This resulted in dialog lines being completely removed from the game! YEESH! All dialog now has proper PNAM references. Thank you to Skyward95 and kkcyy for finding and reporting this issue!
- The following optional files have also been updated. These updates include consistency patches mostly, making the dialog used in the MAIN ESP carry over properly (or the MAIN ESP was updated with the optional file verbiage). Also corrected some missing conditionals and other referenced things that USEEP changed, but was not carried over properly:

November 22, 2020: Main File
- Minor Main File Update (a handful of location / grammar mistakes in my conversions). Thank you to lolMIKYlol and ChrRubin for helping locate these!
IF YOU ARE UPDATING TO THIS VERSION, ALL YOU NEED TO SELECT IS THE MAIN FILE DURING THE INSTALL, AND THEN MERGE THAT WITH THE EXISTING MOD FILE. NO NEED TO RE-CLICK ON ALL THE OPTIONAL MODS, AS THOSE WERE UNTOUCHED!
October 25, 2020: Main File
- FOMOD Update!
- As of this point, I am considering this mod COMPLETED! HOLY MOONS!!!
- Interesting NPC's (3DNPC) released!
- YOT (Your Own Thoughts) released!
- Tons of updates:
- Lots of spelling errors fixed
- NULL references added to all PNAM (Previous Dialog Reference) call-outs (thanks to ChrRubin for this SUPER FAST script fix in zEdit!)
- All mods washed, rinsed, and quality checked AGAIN. I swear that I have them at 98%+ perfections now! (I have to leave that 2% there because, well, I'm mortal and all...)
- All missing Topics and Prompts have now been captured (all those INTENDED that is).
- All NPC dialog is at a suitable point for spelling and grammar. I may have missed a few, but I can live with this. Hopefully you can as well!
October 11, 2020: Required Files
- I have added two additional "required" files to the download page and this description:
- EZ2C Dialogue Menu
- Better Dialogue Controls
- These are not "REQUIRED" per se, but highly recommended as either assists with showing all the dialog options. With the base game, there are two factors that impact the dialog menu, character limits per line of dialog response option, and the number of dialog options. If either of these are exceeded, then some options may not be shown on the display. Having one of these will mitigate this issue.
October 6, 2020: Main File, Optional Files
- FOMOD INSTALLER RELEASE!!!!
- Main File (v4.0) Update

- Optional Files
- Too many fixes to list. A "crap pile" just doesn't do this justice. So, a "sh*$ load", maybe? A "metric f*#$ ton", perhaps? These are highly technical descriptions here...
- Every file has corrections in it. Yes, EVERY SINGLE ONE!
- Simple grammar corrections
- Improved verbal flow / cadence of dialog.
- Missed conversions
- Bug Fixes (like weird characters causing wonky actions)
- Typos (mostly from myself... e.g. - my quality checks now have 11 different ways to spell "Khajiit"). <---- THIS!!

- Main File Update (v2.0 - HUGE UPDATE!)
- I had written down how many lines of dialog I had actually added or changed in one way, shape or form - but I'll be damned if I can find that information now...
- Suffice it to say, I know it was north of 7,000 lines, just for the Skyrim main topic, let alone the expansions and prompts for all. So I'm guesstimating that at the end of the month (saying "end of the day" just doesn't seem enough), over 14,000 lines were changed in this patch!
- Added a TON of quips and smartassery to our wee kitties. They will quite often have something more to say about a subject. Sometimes it will relate to the topic at hand, and sometimes it will be random babble. Hopefully it is humorous and in good fun. Nothing nasty.
- Added a TON of lore-friendly grammar and phrases via The Ta'agra project, an awesome website dedicated to expanding the language of Khajiits all over Nirn. This was very fun and I'm excited to see people's reactions to this addition! I have added a link at the bottom of the page.
- Changed and cleaned up all the gender references. This single item took me the greatest amount of time. I kind of wish I never implemented this rule! Holy crapsticks it was extremely difficult to find out who the text was referring to when it only provided a "he" or "she" in the surrounding dialog!!! I spent so much in the CK... and anyone that knows me knows how much I loathe the CK...
- Fixed a TON of errors, where an option made ZERO sense in response to the dialog interaction. These were scattered around all over, mostly due to my blanketing of commonized phrases. I hope I caught and fixed them all!
- Other errors were caused from copy/pasting the modified text from my excel document to xEdit. I was using the absolutely awesome AutoHotKey program and macros to speed up the process this round, and it caught a lot of mistakes that I had made previously!

So, I used the original mod by mjharper, and loved it! There was clearly a massive amount of effort put forth to get that one completed, and I respect it greatly (even more so having gone through it myself now)!
However, with Matt's absence, there have been a few issues that were never resolved. Furthermore, as mjharper does not have a clear sharing license/permissions for his work set up, other people could not simply update his work on the nexus (rather only for themselves). Therefore, I made the now-questionable decision to rebuild this puppy from the ground up - as insane as that sounds...
So, what makes my mod different? I have employed several generalized "rules" for how I envision the way that a Khajiit would talk - and then deployed those rules across the entire canvas of dialog. Not only to the main topic that is "spoken" by our PC, but all prompted responses as well (most of which the original KS did not catch).
I have completely built this myself, using my own dialog additions and interpretations. I am sure that there will be some similar phrases and words that will overlap between the original KS mod and this one, but I did not purposefully reference, copy, or use mjharper's ideas in any way when making this. Any similarities are purely coincidence!
See the "TOTALS" row in the picture above to get an idea of just how many lines of dialog I've converted or reviewed, and you will understand the scope of this project... it is hella-huge!
Here is a quick video that showcases the mod. Thank you to Bards College Graduate for the very kind words and great video (it lists many Khajiit must-haves as well as this). Start the video at 12:02 for this showcase:
HERE ARE MY SEVEN (7) "RULES":
1) 1st Person References.
I choose to not have any 1st person references available in the dialog. This includes singular, plural, and possessive. Here are the three perspectives explained:
1ST PERSON:
SINGULAR = I, me, my, mine, and myself (rejected)
PLURAL = We, us, our, and ourselves (rejected)
POSSESSIVE = Bob's sword, Angela's necklace, Khajiit's claws, <PLAYER NAME>'s shield. (rejected)
2ND PERSON:
you, your, yours, yourself, yourselves (acceptable)
3RD PERSON:
Masculine/Feminine: he, him, his, himself, she, her, hers, herself (acceptable - only when referring to yourself [below]. However, 3rd person gender references should be either: neutral [below], "that one", or the NPC name themselves [if/when I'm able to find it])
Neutral: it, its, itself, they, them, their, theirs, and themselves (acceptable)
When a Khajiit references themselves, they will typically use one of three ways to do so, and then use "gendered" terms thereafter in the same sentence:
I / me / my = <Alias=Player>, "Khajiit", "This one"
he / she = <Alias.Pronoun=Player>
He / She = <Alias.PronounCap=Player>
his / her = <Alias.PronounPosObj=Player>
His / Her = <Alias.PronounPosObjCap=Player>
him / her = <Alias.PronounObj=Player>
himself / herself = <Alias.PronounRef=Player>
EXAMPLES:
"I think all folk should be welcome here." = "Khajiit believes that all should be welcome here, yes?"
"Tell me about Talos." = "Tell this one about Talos, friend."
"Forget it. I'll just open it myself." = "Whatever. <Alias=Player> will just open it <Alias.PronounRef=Player>."
Other times, like with possessive terms, the sentences were restructured to make more sense, or to change it up some. That said, FORMAL possessive names of items (typically denoted by a capital letter for the object) were left as is: "I have Azura's Star." = "Khajiit has Azura's Star."
EXAMPLE:
"I have Potema's remains." = "Khajiit has the remains of Potema."
2) Contractions.
This rule applies to all terms that 'contract' two words into one (hence, contractions): "Can't", "Won't", "They've", "Haven't", "We've", etc.
These words have now been split up and spelled out... or restructured to some-what make sense grammatically.
A lot of the time, it comes down to logic and cadence. I have spoken every change I've made outloud in a Khajiit accent to see if it sounded correct (or not) - and then made further changes accordingly. I will admit that there are a few lines that I'm still not 100% happy with - but you may never come across such dialog in your playthrough, so I will leave those specific ones a mystery!
EXAMPLES:
"I don't have time for this." = "<Alias=Player> does not have time for this."
"We can't let Ulfric push us around." = "Ulfric should not be allowed to push others around, hmm?"
"Doesn't sound unusual." = "This is not unusual."
""Honor" is a coward's tool." = ""Honor" is the tool of a coward."
"It's out of my hands." = "<Alias=Player> apologizes, but it is out of <Alias.PronounPosObj=Player> hands."
3) Asking Questions and Making Statements.
When it comes to a Khajiit asking questions, they don't always speak "properly" (per the English language, which let's face it, is a shit-show in itself). They often have a tendency to end their question with an additional word (but still with an upward inflection), or a statement with a final word/remark.
The words they use in these situations are, for the most part, one of the following:
Yes? Yes.
No? No.
Perhaps? Perhaps.
Exactly? Exactly.
Friend? Friend.
EXAMPLES:
"She won't be harmed?" = "Saadia will not be harmed, yes?"
"Yes, I put out the fire." = "Khajiit put out the fire, yes."
"Why don't the others talk?" = "The others speak, no?"
"Maybe later." = "Another time, perhaps?"
"Forget it. Maybe I'll come back later." = "Whatever. <Alias=Player> will return later, perhaps."
"What kind of test?" = "What kind of test, exactly?"
"What's going on?" = "What is going on, friend?"
"It's time for us to part ways." = "<Alias=Player> feels it is time to part ways, friend."
4) Commonly Used Phrases.
I employ common phrases to replace full sentences. I envisioned that the Khajiit have common sayings that they use to express their intentions, and use these phrases often.
These are not grammatically correct at times, but they serve to be a "staple" that the other people of Skyrim have grown used to hearing from most Khajiit, so they know how to interpret them.
Here are 23 common phrases that I've inserted. There are perhaps more, but they are likely used less often. Please note that "Khajiit" is interchangeable with <Alias=Player> and "This one", although I do use "Khajiit" in most cases:
<Alias=Player> does not have time for this.
Another time, perhaps?
How unfortunate.
Khajiit agrees.
Khajiit business does not concern you.
Khajiit did not wish to offend.
Khajiit disagrees.
Khajiit does not understand.
Khajiit ears are listening...
Khajiit is curious...
Khajiit is not interested.
Khajiit is seeking work...
Khajiit needs a moment...
Khajiit needs your assistance.
Khajiit understands.
Khajiit will do this.
Khajiit will follow.
Khajiit will lead.
Khajiit wishes to assist.
Khajiit wishes to browse your wares.
Khajiit wishes to trade with you.
Khajiit wishes you good fortune.
Khajiit would be honored.
Trust in Khajiit.
EXAMPLES:
"Khajiit wishes to assist." = "What do you need?", "What can I do for you?", "I'm here to help.", "Maybe I can help you.", or "Need any help?"
"Khajiit will do this." = "I can do that.", "Sure, I can catch him.", "I suppose I could lend a hand.", "All right, I'll do it.", "You've got a deal."
"Khajiit is not interested." = "I'd rather not do that.", "I want no part of this.", "I'll pass on this one, then.", "I don't want your help.", "Doesn't sound like something I'm interested in."
5) Relationship & Gender References.
This is not an activism statement or anything of the sort, but I envision that Khajiit do not see genders in others. They do identify THEMSELVES as "he" or "she" as shown above, but when it comes to referencing a 3rd-party's gender, they stay neutral with the terminology. This pertains to children, adults, and elderly.
As of version 5.2, I've reverted and relaxed this rule some. I have reverted all non-specific mentions of "he, she, him, her" back to the original text, while keeping 3rd party references (father, mother, uncle, aunt) as non-specific gender terms. This allows the flow of dialog to carry an appropriate course, I feel.
I have also blended the use of "male / female", using these sparingly, and only when absolutely required for situations where the PC is repeating the exact words used by an NPC or when it is absolutely needed to be clear on who is being referred to. In the rest of the situations, use of "they, them, people" or a sentence restructure is used to get the same point across.
The most time-consuming part was researching every one of these in the Creation Kit to find out what the surrounding dialog is in order to adjust the sentence structure. Oh, how I loathe the CK!!
Here are some examples:
Great-Grandfather/mother = Great Elder
Grandfather/mother, Old Man/Woman = Elder(s)
Father, Mother, Parent(s) = Guardian(s)
Husband, Wife = Mate
Son(s), Daughter(s) = Offspring, Young One, Youth
Child/Children, Kid(s), Boy/Girl = Youngling(s), Cub(s), Kitten(s)
Brother, Sister = Sibling
Aunt, Uncle, Cousin = Kin, Kinsman (singular), Kinsmen (plural)
Family (when not capitalized and referring to the Dark Brotherhood) = Clan [almost exclusively], Colony, Tribe
Regarding "Family" (since it is not a gender-based word, but still falls into this category of relationships):
I thought about using more specific terminology when referring to groups of people, in the form of social references to other cat-like groups: Pride (Lions), Streak / Ambush / Pounce (Tigers), Clowder / Glaring (cats), Pack / Mute / Kennel (dogs), Claw (Panthers), Leap (Leopards), Cackle (Hyenas)... But at the end of the day, this would take far too much time researching exactly who was referenced and in what context.
The way I've chosen to look at it is the following: other races have adapted to the way that the Khajiit speak (full pun intended) - so now the Khajiit, in turn, have also adapted some to the way that the general populous speaks. Therefore, they will use terms like "clan" to mean "one's own group", as it is the common tongue way of saying this.
Some Khajiit have even gone so far as to speak in 1st person terms, like we see in the Khajiit NPC's in the game. I choose to see this as a learned behavior of the more localized Khajiit that have lived in Skyrim their whole lives (or perhaps a second generation). Furthermore, I cannot modify the way these NPC's respond, as they are voice acted - and although I pride myself in such methods, there is NO WAY I'm going to re-voice all that dialog!
EXAMPLES:
"Who was Crescius's great-grandfather?" = "Who was the great-elder of Crescius, hmm?"
"Does your sister cause you a lot of trouble?" = "Khajiit is curious... Does your sibling cause you much trouble?"
"Where did you find this, boy?" = "And where did a youngling like yourself find this, exactly?"
6) Other Race References.
I have adopted a suggestion made by mystraven777 (thank you), where instead of clumping all humans into a single group, I replace that with a gender-less term. So the human races will once again be their respective race name. There are still a couple instances where "human" is actually used, and I will continue to use it.
If the NPC is another race, I have (where I have been able to clearly see it) referred to them by their formal lore-friendly terminology. Also, for the Mer species, I corrected the slang used in Skyrim to their formal lore names. So:
HUMAN: (called by their specific race for the most part):
Breton(s) = Breton(s)
Imperial(s) = Imperial(s)
Nord(s) = Nord(s)
Redguard = Redguard
General Reference to Human Races = Human
MER RACES:
Dark Elf(ves) = Dunmer
Dwarf/Dwarven/Dwarves = Dwemer
High Elf(ves) = Altmer
Orc(s) = Orsimer
Snow Elf(ves) = Falmer (even though many Snow Elves don't like this term, this is, in fact, what they are)
Wood Elf(ves) = Bosmer
General Reference to Mer Races = Mer
ANIMAL RACES:
Argonian(s) = Argonian(s)
Khajiit = Khajiit
Again, this is only for dialog coming FROM our Khajiit player-characters. The people we talk to will still respond with their slang names.
EXAMPLES:
"Did a woman named Margret stay here?" = "Did someone named Margret stay here, perhaps?"
"Why do you hate the Dark Elves?" = "Khajiit is curious... Why do you hate the Dunmer?"
"I go where I please, Orc." = "<Alias=Player> travels where <Alias=Player> pleases, Orsimer."
7) Specific Words & Phrases.
Some of the words in the English language are too modern. They sound like they came from somewhere in 1900's (and some of these actually did). So I'm rockin' it like it just turned year 1102!!!
I imagine that they could have used some of these words back then, perhaps even more so due to the education levels of the common folk. However, I've opted to consider these words and phrases off-limits to my modifications for Khajiit. I think I've captured them all, but who knows!?!?
The idea here is that the Khajiit language is much more straight forward, with a hint of elegance, in the sense that they say what they mean, without much filtering or slang. These words get in the way of that many times (IMHO).
can = could, manage, able to,
cannot = should not, must not
get = obtain, steal, grab, smuggle, receive, have
getting = finding, looking, stealing
go = leave
goes = travels, walks
got = received, arrived, deserved, retrieved
help = assist
let = allow
maybe = perhaps
really = <cut>
talk = speak
think = believe, ponder, reflect
want(s)(ed) = wish(es)(ed), desire(s)(d), request(s)(ed)
Greetings:
"hello", "hi", "good morning/day/afternoon/evening" =
Greetings.
Greetings, friend.
Bright moons.
Bright moons, friend.
Radiant moons.
Radiant moons, friend.
Warm sands.
Warm sands, friend.
Farewells:
"bye", "goodbye", "later" =
Farewell.
Farewell, friend.
May you walk on warm sands.
Warm sands to you, friend.
May the moon light your path.
May the moons smile upon you, friend.
Sugar and sands to you, friend.
Swift hunting to you, friend.
May the twin moons shine upon you.
Examples:
"I'm ready. Let's go." = "This one is prepared. Time to leave, yes?"
"Why do you want her to stay so badly?" = "Why do you wish her to stay so badly, hmm?"
"Yes. I think your brother was a traitor." = "This one believes your sibling was a traitor, yes."
"Is the war really over?" = "The war is over, perhaps?"
8) BONUS RULE #1: SPELLING, GRAMMAR, & STANDARDIZATION.
I search through the TOPICS, PROMPTS, and NPC RESPONSES using two lists of quality checks in order to correct the vast number of spelling and grammar laws that Blizzard breaks (as well as many authors).
For all you masochists that want to see the full list of items that I conducted my QUALITY CHECKS on, here are the lists. These have been added to and revised over the past 2+ years that I've worked on this mod. If you really want to learn more, I'd have to do a video to explain how these tie into the use of a program called AutoHotKey and Excel:

---HIGHLIGHT THE ABOVE ITEMS IN RED TEXT, FILTER COLUMN TO SHOW NO RED TEXT, THESE ARE EITHER EMOTES OR SENTENCES WITH NO PUNCTUATION
I cannot "un-see" poor grammar in many cases and it pulls me out of the immersive experience immediately. I am not a grammar-Nazi per se, nor am I perfect myself. But excel has no good grammar checking process, so I had to transfer all these lines of dialog to Word and run it through grammar checks there, then transfer them back to excel for my quality checks above.
But as I've gone through all these HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of lines of dialog... I started to create / add to a list of words that are either not properly capitalized (argonian, khajiit, Gods, Skooma), misspelled (Khajit, Redgarde, um, eww), or commonly misused (alright, nevermind, sweet rolls, moonsugar). So they now exist in their own quality checklists!
I also try to verify as many words as possible for the time-period, changing things that did not appear until the 1700's, with synonyms that are closer to this era (roughly the 1100's).
Finally, I employ other standardization practices to ensure that when you see a phrase one way, that other similar phrases are said or displayed on-screen with the subtitles the same way. This includes simple things like emotes to more robust things like expressionism. All in all, my philosophy is this: if you do not notice what I've changed while playing, then I've done my job well! These standardizations should be fluid and transparent and keep you in your immersive state.
9) BONUS RULE #2: A "GOLDEN" OPPORTUNITY / CHANGE.
In order to help minimize my workload for support, I have taken "author's liberty" to change all references to the currency from "gold" to "septims". This is simply a personal preference and has nothing to do with Khajiiti lore, AFAIK. Well, I guess the same could be said for other things that I deemed as a "rule" as well, but this one is a even more far-fetched than those.
I have another mod called "BA Gold to Septims Dialog" that does this same thing, and I did have support for KSR on there originally, but to maintain two completely separate lists of mods for the sole purpose of changing this one word was too much to put on my flimsy paper plate (like slapping a 20oz Porterhouse steak on there), so I've opted to combine the two tasks into a single version here that I can maintain instead.
That mod is still somewhat supported, in that it works in its current state for non-Khajiit characters, but I don't plan to monitor it closely for updates. This mod is my primary focus (as far as dialog is concerned). If you like this change, then congrats... it's a seamless change!
So, there you have it. My Khajiit Speak Redux mod in a very long nutshell (maybe its one of those mutated nut shells that has three peanuts in one shell instead of two, perhaps?)...
I hope that you enjoy it!
Note as of v er 5.2: I feel that this mod is now complete. I have converted over 120+ mods myself, and there are another 30+ conversions from other authors that I've included here. I have reviewed, converted, spell-checked, and grammar-checked over 235,000 lines of dialog multiple times!
Farewell, friend. Khajiit wishes you good fortune. May the twin moons light your path...

Highly recommended:
EZ2C Dialogue Menu (no longer on Nexus, but you might find it somewhere)
or
Better Dialogue Controls (reported to have a bug lately that effects the menu display)
or
Minimal Oblivion Dialogue Menu (Moded EZ2C Dialogue Menu)
Using one of these last three is highly recommended. These all assist with showing all the dialog options. With the base game, there are two factors that impact the dialog menu, character limits per line of dialog response option, and the number of dialog options. If either of these are exceeded, then some options may not be shown on the display. Having one of these will mitigate this issue.
1. Download and install via your favorite mod manager.
2. Read the included ReadMe file for installation instructions or additional information. I understand the irony of including this install step in a ReadMe file for installation that would only be read if someone opened the ReadMe file in the first place. JUST SHADDUP AND DO AS I COMMAND!! :)
3. If unsure of the contents, or to learn more about the mod, use SSEEdit to inspect the contents.
4. If there are any conflicts to resolve, you might benefit from running a Master Update via SSEEdit or other merging program (WyreBash, zEdit, MatorSmash, etc).
5. When ready to play with the mod, open your mod manager, place a checkmark beside the .esp file, and run the game.
6. Enjoy this fine product from Shiholude!
1. Open your mod manager, and uncheck the .esp file.
2. Select the file from the mod directory and uninstall it.
3. Run your “Master Update” again (if you’re using such a file).
This file overwrites a METRIC-&%#$-TON of dialog (more than 62% | 69% [AS OF PATCH 2.0] | 70% [AS OF PATCH 4.0] | 96% [AS OF PATCH 5.2] of the PC lines).
That said, "the last one loaded wins" scenario applies here. If you are seeing inappropriate verbiage in game, you must have a lower ordered mod (higher priority) conflicting with this.
However, even though I've reviewed all the dialog (yes, all 234,836 (as of v 5.2) lines of it across all the mods I support) numerous times, there still might be a topic or response or snippet of NPC response that I missed.
No known issues at this point, please let me know if you find any in the "BUGS" tab above.
If you see repeats that other modders have already converted, this means either that my philosophy above differs enough from their work to warrant a different version, or I just haven't reviewed their work yet. Either their work is referenced below, or I will have a MERGED version in my files.
Load order will always be the same for these: after the main file, in whatever sequence you wish to support your load order.
I strongly encourage everyone to use a tool like ZEDIT to merge all these optional mods into one single ESP. Due to the nature of how this mod interacts, I feel that it should remain an ESP. Even though xEDIT may tell you that it can be ESL'ified, I wouldn't do that. It offers a lot for a single slot in your load order! Please note that all converted mods will be in ESL format.
1) i WILL NOT BE TAKING ANY FURTHER REQUESTS FOR CONVERSIONS AT THIS TIME. I MAY RETURN TO THIS ONE DAY, BUT FOR NOW I CONSIDER THIS AS A FINAL VERSION (5.2).
