Hey, how do you revert these changes? I deleted all added text to the ini files, but now only that resets is the fov of the hands, and not overall, menus idk. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks for quick response! I found out that hands reset to 75, but when I started new game its all on 80. Weird... so I thought 80 its the default value. But I digged out on internet that on SE/AE it should be 90 or above, but not the exact number. But never heard of 80 or 85. How do you found out its 85 If I may ask?
Do you know how to set one FOV differently than the other FOVs? It's clear in the ini., but how do you set it in the console in this case without all FOVs being set the same?
So I did these steps as posted here, edited the skyrim.ini and prefs.ini, saved it, and made them read only. I go into skyrim and ive tried both FOV 110 and it changes in the ` menu, but when i close it, it reverts. This also applies to setcameraFOV 110. Customizable Camera could be the problem, if it doesn't work then delete the prefs ini and skyrim ini an launch the game like normal. not though the SKSE64 extender. if that still doesn't work try disabling mods one at a time to see what is the culprit. Lastly if that all doesn't work your save could be Brocken. Have you used a save cleaner before?
Have you checked to see if you have dirty plugins though loot.
I see you use camara noise as well. try disabling that and see.
I use SmoothCam which is better than camera noise in my option it works like a charm with my settings tweeks.
i did try to disable camera noise before and had no luck in a fix, customizable camera was a potential fix I saw and I disabled that (it didnt work) shortly after posting my first comment here. I can try doing the ini thing and see if that would work. I have not used a save cleaner before, but I dont think it is a save because i even tried to make a new character to see if it was just my current character being the issue but they had the same problem. thank you for some things I can try ill update if I get it working
update:I did the LOOT order thing and it did not see anything wrong. i also did the ini delete thing without skse, and doing the FOV command in console stuck without skse, but I cant run my instance without SKSE (as you know). Going back into that save with SKSE on, it still did not work, so it is one of my mods that is causing the problem that requires SKSE to be present.
So if you use improvedcameraSE, it will overrite your FOV settings in the INI file. Im currently trying to see if i can edit them to what I want, but that is the problem mod
HOLY s#*! ZOCCH thank you i found the issue thanks to you, yes Improved Camera is overriding the FOV and setting it to 80, you can go into the mod's INI files and either disable the override or it has settings for FOVs for different states such as mounting, furniture, combat, ect

EDIT: Whoa, this comment system is royally messing with the way this code is typed. In a small section, where it says "fDefault1stPersjavascript-event-stripped100" replace it with "f Default 1st Person FOV = 100.0000" and remove ALL the spaces. Hey, commenting again! I'm putting this here for anyone that wants both your camera FOV AND your arm FOV to change as well.
This are the steps I followed, only really changing 2 steps.

1. Navigate to Documents > My Games > Skyrim Special Edition.
2. Open both Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini using Notepad.
5. [OPTIONAL] Right click on Skyrim.ini, click properties, and check the box that says "read only". Hit apply, close, and do the same to SkyrimPrefs.

The 2 things that have been changed are adding an extra line to the Skyrim.ini that also affects your character's arm models, making it also appear zoomed out and less squashed. This is the "fDefault1stPersonFOV=100.0000" line. This might look a little wonky depending on how far out you zoom it, but using the CGO mod makes it appear as if my battleaxe's head rests right next to my head, rather than 2 feet behind it. I enjoy.
The second thing is making them read only. This may not be required, and could possibly mess with some other mods that need to edit these files on the fly (ENBs and such used to do this, from what I remember, but I haven't pissed around with that in years, so I might be lying). This basically means that the game can't automatically change you FOV back to default since the game can't modify these files on its own, only read them. Call it me being paranoid, and putting a layer of duct tape over the cement.
Either way, I appreciate the tutorial, as I had to mash both yours and an old reddit response together to get it the way I wanted it, and wouldn't have figured it out on my own.
This worked great, I had to come back and do it again a few months later because I opened Creation Kit 1 time and it broke every single thing I had installed. Good job Bethesda.

Took as long as Todd to make a mod that fixes a core issue. Funny thing is you know deep down inside that Microsoft were yelling at Todd in a closed door meeting "why the hell is there no FOV slider, something players have struggled with for decades in your games Todd?"

Have you checked to see if you have dirty plugins though loot.
I see you use camara noise as well. try disabling that and see.
I use SmoothCam which is better than camera noise in my option it works like a charm with my settings tweeks.

Hey, commenting again! I'm putting this here for anyone that wants both your camera FOV AND your arm FOV to change as well.
This are the steps I followed, only really changing 2 steps.
---
1. Navigate to Documents > My Games > Skyrim Special Edition.
2. Open both Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini using Notepad.
3. Under [Display] in Skyrim.ini, add:
fDefaultWorldFOV=100
fDefault1stPersonFOV=100.0000
fDefault1stPersjavascript-event-stripped100
Save and exit.
4. Under [General] in SkyrimPrefs.ini, add:
fDefaultFOV=100
Save and exit.
5. [OPTIONAL] Right click on Skyrim.ini, click properties, and check the box that says "read only". Hit apply, close, and do the same to SkyrimPrefs.

The 2 things that have been changed are adding an extra line to the Skyrim.ini that also affects your character's arm models, making it also appear zoomed out and less squashed. This is the "fDefault1stPersonFOV=100.0000" line. This might look a little wonky depending on how far out you zoom it, but using the CGO mod makes it appear as if my battleaxe's head rests right next to my head, rather than 2 feet behind it. I enjoy.
The second thing is making them read only. This may not be required, and could possibly mess with some other mods that need to edit these files on the fly (ENBs and such used to do this, from what I remember, but I haven't pissed around with that in years, so I might be lying). This basically means that the game can't automatically change you FOV back to default since the game can't modify these files on its own, only read them. Call it me being paranoid, and putting a layer of duct tape over the cement.
Either way, I appreciate the tutorial, as I had to mash both yours and an old reddit response together to get it the way I wanted it, and wouldn't have figured it out on my own.
I guess it is because of my ultrawide monitor and its settings as below.
