What does these mods change?
Welkynd and Varla Fix
- Increases the Welkynd Stones to 200 from 50 (Ultimate Magicka potions are worth 150, they practically replace them)
- Decreases the Flawed Varla Stone value from 1000 to 425 (they were worth double a full Grand Soul gem!)
- Reduces the spawn chance of Weklynd and Varla stones to 10% and 20%, respectively.
- Welkynd Stones spawn after level 15. Varla Stones spawn after level 18.
Amber and Madness Ore Fix
- Amber Ore now has a 20% chance of spawning, with singular ores starting at level 20 and stacks of 2 at level 27 and 3 at level 34.
- Madness Ore now has a 15% chance of spawning, with singular ores starting at 26 and stacks of 2 at level 32 and 3 at level 40.
I've uploaded each fix as a seperate file, in case you have one but not the other or like ores/welkynd+varla stones in your boss chests. Remember to check your Bashed Patch should you make be making, it may merge the levelled list with the original levelled lists which would revert the changes of this mod.
One could posit the idea that these items start showing up due to the influence of the events of the Saints and Seducer events taking place. Sheogorath has done weirder for sure.
Patches are now available!
- Apothecary patch carries over Welkynd Stone edits.
- Zim's Dremora Improvements adds Amber Ore, Refined Amber, Madness Ore and Madness Ingots to the Dremora Merchant summon.
- Moose's patches, as mentioned above, are amazing additions should you use WACCF and I personally do use them. Under his mod permissions, I have tweaked his Rare Curios and Saints and Seducer patches to, hopefully, work nicely with my changes. The Saints and Seducer Patch in particular makes sure that Saint Bandits and Seducer Bandits don't get Ebony level weapons unless they spawn at level 25 or higher, rather than the initial mod's 20. Approach the camps with caution!
Install my Saints and Seducers patch after installing his FOMOD and patches should you also use his lovely Simple Smithing Overhaul. I have not changed the name of the Saints and Seducers Misc Patch tweak to ensure compatibility with the SSO patch.
Please let me know if there are any issues, there are slight changes over the original version and thus they may be harder to find after their new level change.
Potential Incompatibilities
If you're using Moose's Creation Club - Misc Patches as I recommended to check out AND this somehow, I believe his script edits will intefere with items spawning in boss chests. From basic testing (i.e running from whiterun to bleakfalls barrow at level 80), it does seem to. Use this OR Moose's patch, not together.
Initial ramblings for the purpose of this patch:
Even if I cannot fix it entirely, I've at least tried to bring the Varla and Welkynd stones into line with the base game. They will still show up now and then, but it's the best I can do! I have looked over the entire net and have not found a single fix for this, so if you are more knowledgeable than I and know something that would make the integration of the ores smoother or what could even be causing the distribution, PLEASE do say. No unofficial creation club patches or wrye bashes seem to change the levelled lists, so I assume this is how they shipped it which is boggling to me.
