I love this! I cannot play a mage without it. It totally (in the best way) slows things down and makes being a mage feel earned. Pairing this with Valuable Spell tomes and the weight restriction from Sunhelm really makes being a mage a journey that is immersive.
Love that the books persist. Even though it is financially hard, so far (level 18) my character keeps the spell books on the shelf in Winterhold, like real text books. Feels like a library of accomplishment for the role playing nerd lol. But like real life, I may need to sell some back to get the more expensive advanced ones. I was off skyrim for years and years, having played it too much, this helped make my favorite class, mage, feel fresh. (If anyone reading this has also been gone a long time, or is newly modding, Obscure College of Winterhold is great too)
I tried Spell Research but it was too slow for me. This is exactly the level of complexity for me, thanks!
So looking into this mod it looks l would heavily recommend it on a new game. That I think explains a LOT of the posts here. You can try it on a existing game but I think its going to be hit or miss. I tested this and replicated issues on a existing game but on a New Game the mod works flawlessly.
That said there is a bug where if you are sitting and learning or studying a tome using the new method available in the update that gives % learned and you just hit the joy stick or move forward while sitting to exit the sitting animation - that will not actually stop the studying. It will continue until you jump, pull out a weapon, or sneak or something. So until then your just running around technically "studying".
In a perfect world I wouldn't mind the set hour studying method but the message should all be percent instead of hours left to learn its just cleaner and neater. But yea if you use the new method thats the only way to get the % learned messages. im Not opposed to the new method of just allowing the player to wait as long as they want but trying to exit the study session is not inherently intuitive. Technically you can navigate back to your invetory and then select the tome again to "stop Studying" But also you can just exit out smoothly by tapping the sneak button twice quick. Im not sure if the sneak exit is intended or if it will cause a issue however spamming errors in a log or something (havent looked). All that said the old system however works as expected no issues no bugs. The message box is just really long giving how many hours you have read and need to read yet instead of just a flat percent.
anybody getting 2 prompts when reading spell tomes? i heard previously that it's an issue caused by favorite misc items but i don't have that in my load order.
I'm trying to get this to work with Grimoire Spell Mastery, but when I first click to study the spell, it gives me the spell immediately (Tried turning up the time it takes to 300%), I do the animation and it gives me insight but not I know the spell immediately. Anyone run into this issue before?
Experiencing a bug which 'may' be related to this mod (version 1.4.5).
When I read book A, OnEquipped() script attached to book B activates. Or in other case, reading book C activates OnEquipped() script attached to misc item D.
