I installed the mod (1.4.5), I was eating the book and instant learning spell (only testing on new saves). I checked xEdit : nothing, I put the mod last in load order : nothing. Then I just re-installed the mod, re-start a game, and it worked... :) ?
Idk why but it works now ! So if you encounter that kind of problem maybe try to re-install So glad I can use that mod *-*
If you are getting the problem where there is only "Don't Study / 1 Hour" when first reading a book, then disable or uninstall the 2.0 version/update and keep only the 1.4.5 active. I am using the most recent steam version of SSE (1.6.1170) and disabling 2.0 of the mod fixed the problem for me. To clarify in case it matters somehow, I have the 2.0 installed still but currently disabled in my load order using Vortex.
I tried doing the same to the 1.4.5 and only having the 2.0 enabled but the problem was still there.
Just wanted to post a quick comment for those trying out this mod for the first time. Don't download the main file (version 1.4.5) from the files page. Download the second file down (version 2.0 RC3). This is relevant for 1.6.1170 which is what I'm on. I don't know about any other versions of the game. That is all :)
I am currently trying to use this beautiful ISL mod, and it doesn't seem to run properly on my PC (tho I read @vaftel's comment written on 2025 March 5th saying it does actually work which makes my own comment quite embarrassing).
Here are few parameters:
I play on Skyrim SE from Steam,
The mod was downloaded and installed via Vortex (version of the mod is 1.4.5),
Same for pre-requisite mods SKSE64 (version 2.2.6) and Address library for SKSE plugin (version 11),
Everything is enabled in Vortex,
In game I can see the ISL mod in the "creation" tab as well as in the MCM menu with the default parameters (I played with them without any obvious impacts),
In addition to this mod, I only have Obscure's College of Winterhold which is working perfectly well, and SkyUI which is working perfectly as well (so I assume SKSE is not to be blamed here as it is a common prerequisite between SkyUI and ISL).
Despite all of that, no dialog box is prompted and I eat spell books instantly, be it with previously saved games or with the several fresh new starts I made as an High Elf (the lightning book in the tutorial is read and the spell learned instantly).
I'm pretty sure I'm missing a stupid thing my brain can not comprehend, and I'm quite stuck right now. Should you have any idea about the dumb mistake(s) I'm certainly making I'd be more than happy to read you as I'd highly appreciate a bit of help.
I don't know if my experience with this mod will help but I will post it anyways, you never know. I just tested this mod on 1.6.1170 with all the requirements up to date. I chose a Breton, and I played all the way to Riverwood without ever running into any tutorial where I received a lightning book. Once in Riverwood I bought a Soul Trap tome and bought a room for the night. I sat down and began to read the tome, and I got a pop up with two options "don't study" and "study for 1 hour". It took me three sessions of 1 hour each to learn the spell. The game faded to black each time I studied. I'm assuming this is all normal for how the mod is supposed to behave so I can say that the mod is working for me just fine. The only differences in our experiences are, I don't have the College of Winterhold mod installed and I chose a Breton. I just double checked something, I downloaded version 2.0 RC3, not 1.4.5 like you did. That's the problem I bet. It's the second file down on the mod's file page. I hope you read this because I'm almost positive that is your problem. The version of the mod you downloaded! I didn't think to check that until the end lol.
