I'm pretty sure "unrealistically-sharp distant detail" in VR is an oxymoron!

..but I just turned off the depth blur and it looks really great!  Funny that it takes 3 different stacked sharpeners to make this game look good.

Well, usually when you look in the distance you'd have haze getting in your way and making the distant textures slightly blurry like in the example below where the trees in the background are slightly fuzzy:
      ?
Since the reshade applies sharpening to everything in a similar fashion with little regard for depth, I found it good to include a depth haze shader, both to make the game less busy when not needed, and to make far things look like they're actually far (The throat of the world mountain for example looks super sharp from whiterun, while it's quite far from it).

But it's a personal taste choice, you're free to disable the tint and the depth haze, disabling any of the sharpening filters might make it look more blurry (since each shader is sharpening up the image in different ways).

Hello, whenever you say "Extract in your Skyrim VR folder", you mean putting the entire extracted file with the name "VRVision-47989-4-0-1640045005" inside the Skyrim folder correct? Just want to be sure since I dont rly know if its working

should copy things in such a way that the dxgi.dll file is in the same folder as your SkyrimVR.exe

Valve Index user here.  I found the lite version or the lite heavy version works best.  Using a 3090 and the lite heavy version just barely works at 80hz(some stutter in the heavy forested areas) but everything looks great.  Im sure the performance depends on what other mods you have running as well.

    Wow dude.

I've been tweaking and changing my settings for literal days trying to make my blurry mess more palatable. This has by far had the biggest impact, I thank you sir

Is there a way to remove the color changes and just keep the sharpening?

yeah just remove the relevant shader (LUT). I mention in the mod description what shader does what.

Getting a texture smear in the right eye no matter what version of the sharpener is installed.
It seems to be mainly on grass/shrubs.  It's frustrating because otherwise the sharpening is incredible.

Anyone else get this right eye smear effect and know of a fix?

    UPDATE/SOLVED:
Found out what was causing it.  Turns out it wasn't the textures at all.
Skyrim's TAA was still being too agressive and causing the smear.

    THE FIX:
You need to use console commands either in game or via the VR FPS Stabilizer mod (in order for them to 'stick' between sessions):
    https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/31392

Follow the steps outlined in this Reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimvr/comments/h8skem/adventures_in_taa_tuning/
The post will explain everything step by step.

You only have to use the command console part of the mod for this.  The mod author has already inserted several TAA values in the .ini file.

Here's our values that got rid of the CAS right eye smear (Pimax 5k+/GitHub CAS version):
    taa sharp 2.200
    taa hf 0.3800
    taa po 0.0900

The problem was caused by the TAA HF value being set WAY too high.
We cranked it down until the smear vanished and then adjusted the TAA PO value to fine tune until the shimmer was gone.

Hope this helps someone out there who runs across this issue.

Thanks I'll check out those values!

@REP19 you need to use console commands and/or VR FPS Stabilizer to run those commands at boot

Someone I know mentioned this issue could possibly be caused by TAA outright. Try disabling it

Sorry, never got a notification, so waaaay late.

So you'll need VRFPS Stabilizer to do this.  You DO NOT have to use the Stabilization features of the mod if you don't want to.
I also use the CAS sharpener direct from github.

In the VRFPStabilizer.ini, (SkyrimVR/Data/SKSE/Plugins) scroll down to the area that looks like this:
[DataLoaded]    #Runs after the game opened and menu is loaded
      #taa hf 0.100000
      #taa ps 1.000000
      #taa po 0.675000

He's already added the lines there, but they won't run unless you remove the #.

So in my OP above, I just put the values directly under the #examples:

[DataLoaded]    #Runs after the game opened and menu is loaded
      #taa hf 0.100000
      #taa ps 1.000000
      #taa po 0.675000

      taa sharp 2.200
      taa hf 0.3800
      taa po 0.0900

Then save the .ini file and when you next start up the game and load a save, the values will load automatically.
You may need to play around with the values, but the taa hf setting seems to be the most direct cause of the smear.

      Hope that helps.

    Hi, CrithionLoren.

        This mod looks great.

Though I have a problem. I want to use VR Performance Toolkit
       https://github.com/fholger/vrperfkit

But both VR Performance Toolkit and VrVision use 'dxgi.dll'.

Is there a way to make us able to use both of these 2 mods?
Is there a way to "Chain Dll run"? (chain loader line or dll chain) Like Sekiro's "The Art of Battle"
    https://www.nexusmods.com/sekiro/mods/809

    This would be great.

    Thanks again for your mod.

I found a solution, but it only works if you have enbseries. rename dxgi.dll for the reshade preset to something like "reshade64.dll". now, edit enblocal.ini to:

      [PROXY]
      EnableProxyLibrary=true
      InitProxyFunctions=false
      ProxyLibrary=reshade64.dll

make sure InitProxyFunctions is set to false, otherwise you get an immediate CTD. hope this helps!

EDIT: sadly vrperfkit ruins the AO effect as it messes with the z-buffer, so you either have to turn AO off in the reshade preset or stop using vrperfkit.

No, it just adds some sharpness and adds a colour changing filter basically.

Thanks! I just tested it out and it's amazing! There's a little bit of grittiness when turning your head and looking at, say, scenery, but for close up items it's perfect. Thanks for the amazing mod!

This is my favorite ReShade mod ! I would like to know if version 5.0 of ReShade will change something ? should we wait for you to produce a new version of VrVision?

Honestly I've kinda given up on an update for this, though i have a version with slightly adjusted LUT and sharpness on my side. Glamur Reshade does sharpening that's allegedly as good as vrvision's, at a lower cost, and also has ambient occlusion. I'm not sure where to take this reshade when it's been outpaced by that much in all aspects.

      Glamur reshade is insane.
Thanks you ! And thank to VrVision for accompagning for a long time :)
