Sounds like A) You don't have DAR/OAR + AnimObjectSwapper working properly. B) The patch was installed in an existing save where the previous version of SGT was installed. In this case, enter this in the console*: set _talent_enablemovement to 1 C) The requirements are not up to date. This includes the requirements of the requirements (For example: powerofthree's Tweaks)
Hey there. This is going to the sticky cause I answer this question way too many times haha.
Issue: "HELP JAY, I CLICK ON THE INSTRUMENT & NOTHING HAPPENS"
Explanation: You have another mod overwriting my mod. In particular, you have another mod overwriting the changes I've made to the instruments.
How to fix: 1) You can either move my mod after any other mod modifying those instruments in your load order (place my mod's .esp at the bottom, for example or make a rule so my mod loads AFTER the other mods) OR you can open SSEEdit, go to the misc objects and make sure that my mod changes carry over.
2) After fixing this, load your save as normal and drop any instrument in your inventory to the floor. (Open your inventory, drop the instrument, by default it's the R key) Pick it up again, and now you can click on the instrument and play as normal. You cannot skip the step of dropping the instrument after fixing it, or it won't work. Why: the properties of the object in your inventory won't update the changes you did in step number 1 unless you drop it once.
I wasn't sure I would like this much, as Become a Bard has always been in my list. Nope, I was wrong. LOVE THIS It does enhance my RP style, and makes much more sense. It does sit nicely with both in load order, I just leave Become alone until I have some skill to merit going to college. :) It's a nice bridge. But even alone, this. This is now a permanent for me.
1) NPCs dont seem to react to my drumming. Is it beacause i created the drum with console "player.additem 000daba9 1"? I dropped it on the ground and picked it up, not sure if it should have helped. 2) Is there any way to see how much drumming expirience i have to advance to next rank? 3) Drumming increased my combat stress instead of reducing it from mod Stress and Fear. Stress and fear description tells me that playing music should decrease stress. Is it because i got a debuff for playing too badly?
EDIT: It seems i got it to work somehow. Maybe it needed some time to boot up, sort of say.
i cant see the instrument in first person, i'm using js instruments and allgud with the patch installed, i dont know what else may be causing this problem. third person is fine
What would be perfect is collabing or getting edit permissions with Bard's Reborn author and creating the Ultimate Bard College and Life, everytime I've tried using both this and that, with patches which get outdated quickly, it never seems to work. There could be other conflicts too, like one that stops the prompt message from appearing to pick song number from Become a Bard (Required for Bard's Reborn, but should be replaced with Skyrim's Got Talent.)
SGT brings the perfect road to becoming a bard and not just being one from the get go, which should work great with Bard's Reborn and going to college where Malukah not only encourages you to keep practicing to pass her exam but also it turns the college into an actual school where you learn about Bard history and the importance of care and maintenance of your instruments. Once you've passed and become a bard then you can go out into Skyrim's taverns, performing with other bards, your companions (Auri as a perfect example from her music loving nature.) and earn small sums of tips from patrons.
Infact it may even work perfectly with Legacy of the Dragonborn, and other player made questlines that delve into lore, after all a true bard is not just a musician, they are scholars and scribes, they search out new stories to tell and record history in the making.
There is a patch in bards reborn comments by user glanzer that works for newest version to date of both mods, i used and play a bard with no problems. all features from both mods work in synergy.
The only exception is when asking innkeeper or jarls to perform for them, you need to use the songbook and play from there. other than that everything else works with SGT method.
How recent was your play with this patch for a patch? SGT has been updated since they posted the patch for the patch and all I got was random play with no prompt message or menu to select which song or training level to do.
Played around a month or 2 ago on game version 1.6.640 but game version is irrelevant in this case, it works well just make sure to read the comments... went thorugh all the new bards college quest and performed for jarls and at inns with no problem, unlocked all songbook songs, all good and working
I'm having the same issue with glanzer's patch. Can't choose which song to play and it doesn't seem like im getting any progression. Also can't collect pay from innkeepers after performing. Tried on both SGT v1.76 and v1.70, same issue.
Hey Jay if you ever revisit this mod for another update I would humbly ask if you could make the performance a bit longer they feel really short I understand some people probably wanted it that way but I would really enjoy it to last a awhile longer if possible thank you. PS Love the mod :p
Almost everything in this mod is working well, the only thing I can't get to work properly is asking an NPC to play with me. Either my character or the NPC will take the instrument but stop playing in the first 2 seconds, while the lucky one plays nice until the end of the song. I don't know why 😭
Had this too, was an incompatibility with Immersive Equipping Animations As soon as the "instrument" is equipped that other mod plays it's equipment animation interrupting the whole playing instrument animation.
Guess I found the culprit on my side, Fe/Male Player Animations. Does someone knows how to make these two mods play nice with the idles not getting in the way of the playing instruments (i only have this issue on duos)?
I'm having this issue with the same Fe/Male player animations but I don't even use SGT, but I do use other bard mods like BAB. I have yet to find out why.

You need this page patch AND the one in the comments section by user glanzer.

Nice mod. As always.
