Getting this Solstheim map to work is honestly more trouble than it's worth. Every so often it breaks and you have to fix it, each time in a different way than the last. All the other maps work perfectly.
could you please provide more info: you have wrong background in Skyrim and on Solstheim both? whats your FWMF setup (maps, options during FWMF FOMDO installation)? what version of Mirhayasu's FOMOD you have, with sse engine fixes patch or without?
Hey! I have the same issue with the Solstheim map from this mod and the Skyrim map by Caro tuts, here's my setup: 1.6.629 version, Skyrim + Solstheim whitelisted, fantasy package, EvLAS beta patch; for Mirhayasu's FOMOD I have chosen mural as background with sse engine patch.
I chose the statue background for the skyrim map by Caro tuts and it also didn't work, so both backgrounds are black. I made sure FWMF is loaded last, then this mod, then Skyrim map. I also use Vortex.
Hope I didn't forget anything!
EDIT: I tried using custom backgrounds for Blackreach and soul cairn maps and had the same issue (blackreach shows the first image whatever I pick and Soul cairn background is just black)

there is defo an issue with Vortex processing FOMOD priorities and I can't help with that, unfortunately, beside suggesting to install favorite background manually.
The location of the player on the map doesnt seem to represent my actual location. Like the map is off to the right. I have flat map markers installed.
you provided very little information for troubleshooting. what version of this mod and FWMF we are talking about, how "off" map is, in what location. screenshot would help.
I Dont know how to paste screenshots, but its a good bit too much to the left. In one of the screenshots you provided for instance the karthwasten marker is hovering above karthasten itself. Wheras for me its a good bit to the right. Right on the left bank of the river and very slightly down (on the paper-map). And that for basically every other icon. Its not game breaking, but a bit annoying.
if it's on screenshots, then it is an inaccuracy that can't be helped. most drawn Skyrim maps were made by outlining official bethesda map (also know as "Nataly Dravarol's map") which is inaccurate, especially in the west part of Skyrim. stick to one of the topography maps if you need 100% accuracy, those based on actual in-game assets.
Yashirow, in your case its definitely wrong installation, most likely map mesh for another Solstheim map. provide full info about your setup (mod and load order of all FWMF setup, version of FWMF FOMOD and options picked during installation), then I will be able to help.

I also have Atlas map markers, Comap, flat map markers, comap, Custom Map Markers for Traditional Skyrim, and Solstheim Paper Maps, all of which are disabled. I did not make a difference. Regarding conflicts, I have nothing conflicting with Skyrim and Solstheim Paper Maps by Mirhayasu for FWMF (I tried both BETA and the non-beta versions).
The base FWMF is the latest version with all regions selected and the fantasy setting.
The main Skyrim map looks fine though (the one by Caro Tuts).
I've double checked your setup, FWMF for Fantasy Paper Maps + this mod (Miri's maps), markers aligning on Solstheim is fine. You need to make sure: 1) you don't have other maps for Solstheim installed (Duncan's, Geevee's, Satellite, Traditional), 2) this mod is lower than any source of LOD32 (dyndolod outputs mostly) in mod load order.
So it seems there was more that I had to take into account. I also have the Seasons of Skyrim and the options selected but I have not yet run lodgen. Without the settings, the markers are positioned correctly. Is this something that will be fixed after I run lodgen? I'm still building my load order and testing mods, little by little, so I haven't generated any LODs yet. But then, why is the Skyrim map correct but not the Solsthem one? Hm...
I believe this has turned into a discussion for the main mod page since it's not really related to the maps by Mirhayasu. I apologize but would still appreciate any tips.
I suggest you to disable or uninstall FWMF mods before generating LODs and add them back after LOD output and dyndolod plugin are ready and installed. you can allow dyndolod to process FWMF and forward its records too (like LOD community suggests) but in that case you will most likely need to re-run dyndolod again after every FWMF update. in any case FWMF LOD32s should be dead last, below any lods output.
concerning SoS, FWMF FOMOD has seasonal LOD32s, you have to pick worldspaces where you need seasons during FWMF installation, that should be enough for proper work (tho occasionally ppl encounter issues even after that routine, unfortunately).
Thanks for the tips. I still have not run any lods but I guess the seasons setting in the FOMOD expects that I have already done this part. I will check the markers again once I've generated all lods.
Well, it took me forever, but at least I learned a lot. It's because of Seasons. I had to duplicate the terrain meshes and name them for every season. Then the markers aligned. To quote the main mod page; For users which have marker misalignment issues with SoS installed. aljoxo as kind enough to make an investigation and found out, that installing SoS patches from FWMF FOMOD may not be enough if you have standalone maps for worldspaced affected by SoS. Here is an advised routine:
Run Lodgen and DynDOLOD with FWMF and patches disabled.
Load order should be LODs --> FWMF --> Synthesis (if relevant)
For maps that are in worldspaces where seasons occur (so really only relevant for Dayspring, Tamriel, and Solstheim), in the meshes\terrain\[worldspace] folder, made a copy of the .btr file and name them like: .AUT.btr, .SPR.btr, .SUM.btr, and .WIN.btr. Place those files specifically in your standalone maps /meshes/ folder.
The world mesh of this mod creates a gigantic blue overlay that appears once you get too high (IE Throat of the World) that blocks the entire world from visibility. FWMF is at the bottom of the load order etc etc. This ONLY happens with this mod's meshes folder loaded.
it probably has older mesh with TotW not yet fixed. FOMOD has that fix as an option while ago, than I integrated it in FOMOD as default, but looks like forgot to apply it to this map. will try to fix it with the next FWMF update.
fwmf uses its own LOD32 terrain meshes, game uses them for the map menu only. either don't generate LOD32s in dyndolod/lodgen or place lodgen output above fwmf in mods LO.
However, I do everything correctly. I use paper maps for all the other places: Skyrim, Forgotten Vale, Dawnguard, Soul Cairn and even Wyrmstooth. I even tested another one for Soshteim which works but I wanted yours specifically.
Hello, I'm usiing your Skyrim mod https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/106483. I downloaded this mod for the Solstheim map. Selected only Solstheim no labels. This mod isn't overriding FWMF like the other and there is no plugin in MO2. The file only has the textures and meshes. I selected the FOMOD Lite the first time and then tried the optional Fantasy one the second time in FWMF. Still nothing. What am I doing wrong?
install latest FWMF, Fantasy package, at least Skyrim and Solstheim markers whitelisting. that will give you standard Aesoteric map for Skyrim and nothing for Solstheim. then install Mirhayasu' mod, it has both mesh and texture for Sosltheim, it lacks plugin but you don't it with fantasy package, pick None for Skyrim, any version for Solstheim, make sure this mod is last in MOD order. that's it.
you can install any other Skyrim-only map later, it wont affect Solstheim.
I also posted on the FWMF page. I'm really at a loss, it seams a messed up blurry vanilla map is showing but has the zoom, movement and flat markers from FWMF. I've reinstalled several times. I see no conflicts in MO2, SSEdit or the game files. Kinda sucks, it was so nice before.
if it was nice and worked fine, then how exactly its on FWMF side? :) obviously, you installed smth overwriting either worldspace records (plugins) or LOD32 textures (mods). try to figure out what that was. another possible culprit is SKSE plugins affecting LOD32, like SoS.

plugin load order is a mess. you need to make sure all FWMF plugins are last in LO. also, main FWMF file (Marked Old map in your case) should be first among FWMF plugins, then patches/fixes/MCM, then standalone maps (like Blackreach, Sovngarde etc). its all covered on FWMF description page.
you haven't provided mod lod order so I will warn just in case - Mirhayasu's map should be below main FWMF mod in LO, plus below any LOD outputs that have terrain LODs, like Dyndolod.
