When talking about that is hard to satisfy all tastes, I reduced the sound myself in 90%. Do this: 1- Go to: https://mp3cut.net/change-volume 2- Click open file 3- Go to X:\xxxx\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data\sound\fx\mihailsquirrel.esp 4- Open soundsquirrel. 5- Reduce the sound as much as you want. 6- Save it replacing the old file.
It is. The Nexus preserves downloadable versions of mods exactly in order to allow users to continue to download them, e.g. because they might be integral parts of a modlist, even if the mod-author hides or deletes the mod. The introduction of that policy was a matter of some controversy (to put it mildly), but regardless of how one feels about that decision, it is the current Nexus policy.
The instructions worked for reducing the annoying squirrel sound. Thanks!!! You saved us (and many, many, many squirrels)! Kudo to you!
However; just to clarify since it took me a minute...
The file you are looking for is at: X:\xxxx\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data\sound\fx\mihailsquirrel.esp\soundsquirrel.wav
I got confused when I thought I was looking for the mihailsquirrel.esp file. That is actually the folder name, and the file you want, soundsquirrel.wav, is in it.
Edit: Did anyone figure out if this mod, Squirrels - Mihail Monsters - Tweaks, is still needed with the last (now hidden) version of Mihail's mod? Thanks!
Edit 2: 2024-07-08 My squirrels in game were sometimes aggressive so I went ahead and installed this mod.
Version 1.1 - "AI bug fix" update of - Mihail's Squirrels on the 27 of September. Is this patch needed anymore? Mihail did not clarify what he actually fixed.
After downloading Tweaks, all of the squirrels turned into tiny rabbits. I dunno if it's a bug or just something with my files but I don't have the know-how to dig for it. I like the mod itself, though. Nice to have more than just rabbits running around.
Huh. I always wondered why the little buggers would occasionally aggro on me. Was irritating as hell when I was trying to fast travel and couldn't because some rabid little squirrel kept running around me in circles, chirping away. (Fireballs are your friend.) Thanks for this.

Now instead of a plugin replacer is an actual patch.
Now instead of changing race is a Non-Hostile flag.
Let's rhyme baby...

That shouldn't happen because I didn't change the .nif files directory.
Thanks for this.
