    Papyrus Extender update 4.56 changed OnSkillIncrease from String to Int which broke this mod. I'm trying to fix it myself, does setting these lines to this look correct?

    event OnSkillIncrease(Int aiActorValue)

    if aiActorValue == 6
            SetSkillTrained("OneHanded")

    Before I changed them they looked like:

    event OnSkillIncrease(String skillname)

    if skillname == "OneHanded"
            SetSkillTrained("OneHanded")

      I just tested the updated script out now everything works. Reading a book or training allows me to use the item or spell. I released an updated script here

      @mrowrpurr Plz come back and update this wonderful mod, we need you...
  3. Found a fix for the skill book issue.

    Download this mod and skill books should grant skills again (it also makes identifying quest and skill books easier)

    Happy modding!

    By the way, setting your level to zero and all starting skills to zero may have an ... odd effect on NPCs that level with you. For example, I set my levels to zero and then started off in Helgen (as usual), only to realise that the Imperials had been even more barbaric than usual to their poor Stormcloak prisoners. They had stolen all their clothes and forced them to ride naked through the cold Skyrim countryside, all the way from Darkwater to Helgen!

    From the sheer horror of Imperial Brutality, I decided to leave that universe behind and begin in another one (where my starting level was 1 and all my starting skills were between 10 and 15). Luckily the Stormcloak ancestors were smiling down upon the unfortunate prisoners in this universe, and permitted them to wear clothes.

    Never knew how much I missed this. I can't escape the need to powergame and grind most optimally, so effectively removing smiting (with Honed Metal) and alchemy until much later goes a long way in making the game feel more like an adventure and less a bureaucratic menu spamming work simulator.

    I really wish I'd realized before starting my playthrough that this mod is broken (in AE?). It does restrict the skills you can use, but training with a book or trainer does not lift the restriction. I'll try to use the console as a workaround, mostly because I don't want to start a new game again, but also because I really do like the concept of this mod.

      I'm having the same issue. I have to manually enable the skills in MCM. I'm also having trouble with the smithing, for some reason with the skill enabled, I can't improve anything. It keeps saying I lack the required skill.
    2. You need to reach 15 in Smithing to upgrade gear. You'll need additional training if you set the skill to 0 to begin with.

    So uhm...I installed this mod and it completely broke leveling for me. Some skills advance --> some don't, especially (or so it seems) the ones I determined my major skills with the character creation overhaul. I uninstalled the mod, even started a completely new game, the issue persists.

    Any ideas anyone?

    Granted I have hundreds of mods installed that are likely causing a conflict, but this is not working for me. I don't see any ESP conflict overrides. I even unpacked the BSA to see if any scripts were conflicting. I set all my skills to 0 to start (like a challenging start which this mod fits perfectly). I was able to walk right up to the alchemy table and create some potions.

    Any suggestions on where to look? I am using CotR, Ordinator, and plenty of other mods.

      Post Edit:

      Unsure what my issue was but started a new game and it seems to be working
