The flakes will never be that close to need that resolution.
Rule of thumb Bigger Object = Get hi-res (Weapons, armor, landscape) minimum 4K Smaller Object = Get lowres. (plants, utensils, tools) no more than 1-2K
Well, technically depends on the small object. Small object may be small but lets say for example they use 10% of let say a 2048x2048 texture. Well you only getting 204.8x204.8 snow flakes. That's why some stuff still looks terrible even when you download the highest resolution files, because the actual object uses such a small section of the texture that it ends up being low resolution up close.
It wasn't working for me initially and nothing was conflicting with those textures but I found out NATKV weather plugin was the root cause. Even having this mod after NATKV, the textures are still not showing.
Solution: There is a texture called snow.dds in NATKV\textures\sky\nat Just replace that file with a copy of manysnow.dds renaming it to have the same name. snow.dds and it will work.
If you are using the original NAT weather plugin those textures are packed as bsa. What I did to fix that is to zip that texture with this folder structure and put it under NAT.ENB - ESP Plugin (textures\sky\nat).
I really like your work with this textures (needed a little optimizing but still), and is this new version 3 an update or a re-placer? because it's only 2 files instead of 4?
One of the removed textures was dependent on Supreme Storms (I am considering reusing it with the author's permission) and I am having problems with the other one causing CTDs, but I am already adressing the problem. I'd recommend using it as a replacement, but you can also use it as an update if you did not have problems with the older version.
I just came back after not doing any image editing for years. So if you have any tips on how to optimize the files, I would appreciate it.
Oh i understand, well I'm not a modder myself but i can tell you what i did to make it work. I use a little nice tool/mod called SSE Nif Optimizer and the scan textures button brought the next warning.

Naturally you don't just download mods and scan each and everyone but since this one was so light and only 4 files and only textures i said why not and discovered this, so i opened these two files in Photoshop (which btw are the 2 files missing with the new version) and change the size to 1024x1024 and 512x512 respectively. Also changed the format to BC7.

Now if i don't do this the snowflakes are just some white squares more noticeable in heavy weather mods i personally use NAT 3.0 haven't tested in a vanilla game without ENB but tested without NAT with the same results but less heavy square effect.
And lastly i replaced the file Snow.dds from NAT with the file of your mod manny_Snow.dds and renamed it, and that's it. Haven't tried the new version of your mod as i was hesitant because the 2 missing files. Cheers.
Just tested it. The texture looks so good. Some files overwrite parts of the Bright Waterfall fix for realistic water two (they got some updates since the start of my playthrough thou) The Snow is soo bright white at night, it's a little too much for me; any ideas what might be the cause anyone? Thanks for the port!
This snow is super bright for my ENB setup too. I fixed mine by decreasing the alpha channel (opacity) of the flakes.
While your at it, fix the resolution of those flakes as well (to 1024x1024, 512x512.. you'll see them. See DD's post below). I also compressed mine using BC7 afterwards. SE is DX11 right? hey hey :)
You know, I am just getting into modding and have TONs of computer experience, so I'm grasping scripting and how to manipulate records and such, learning the creation kit slowly, but have little or no experience with textures/models and such - is there some tutorial that you would recommend that would show me how to make the changes you suggest - my experience with Textures is running them through CAO, and I can't even do that right half the time it seems
