I think reading follower efficinado Nerdgamerdave's post on followers may be helpful to a lot of you.
15 March 2022, 7:07AM Works just fine alongside NFF and my game is crazy follower based: 2,000+ followers and I house and travel with 5 or more at a time.
I also use Multiple Marriages and all manner of follower altering mods. For specific reference, I have every single unique follower ever made EXCEPT for Recorder (not a fan of her).
Generalized Advice follows, which applies to unique followers and not just those used alongside Sleep For Me Now:
The big problem is with any follower (Like Serana) that have different follower packages. It's important to note that NFF only has ONE custom follower that it is fully compatible with: Sofia.
No other custom follower is safe to import into AFT or NFF without risking glitches and scripting problems.
Serana is specifically mentioned as only partially compatible, so it is not advised you DO NOT import her into NFF or AFT, as it WILL produce glitches at some point or another.
Serana works best taking up an ordinary follower slot. This is especially true when doing her quest line as aspects of it will break if she is being influenced by any follower framework (AFT or NFF). Scripts get stuck or fail to launch. It's just how she is designed and no fix has been found in years.
This REALLY applies to any follower like Inigo, Vilja, Hoth, Caesie, Seductress Faye, Recorder, etc. and others with even more detailed and complicated AI packages and scripting. In general you should never directly affect them with mods like Flower Girls seduction system (avoid the 'begin seduction' dialogue", outfit changing mods, or altering combat roles via NFF/AFT. Even assigning them a home via My Home Is Your Home can mess with their brain. Stick with the vanilla scripts for such behavior.
When in doubt, give the NPC a NFF Ignore Token, so NFF completely ignores them and only assigns them to the base game follower slot.
Neither AFT or NFF are "bugged" in this sense. Some followers are just not suited for it
Auto Sleep For Me now, GoToBed, Sleep In Lingerie, Bathing In Skyrim, etc. all work 100% fine in my experience with Serana, Inigo, Vilja, etc. (you should see Serana and Inigo spooning in the same bed, it's cute :) ). But I also give then a NFF Ignore Token first thing, so their scripts are left un-touched and their AI packages are not affected by any long standing or permanent changes.
TL/DR Version:
Don't import the follower into AFT/NFF, They 100% work alongside mods like Auto Sleep For Me Now without issue
A quick question: The first item in the follower's dialog defaults to 'Sleep when I sleep'. My inclination is to click that to make it active, but once I do the text changes to 'be diligent...'. As simple as this is, I'm really not sure what is considered the current state, the one that's displayed or the one that it changes to once the option is clicked.
If youre still active on this mod, it would be nice if the dialogue " when i sleep, come sleep with me " (i think thats it) always came up as an option, then you could make sure your spouse always slept with you.
Many thanks to the author of this mod... any free mod really. You put time and effort to publish a mod for us all to enjoy. Thank you!
I really wanted to make this work... but I have given up short of helping hint... which realistic wont come. ("it must be a mod conflict" wont really help. "works for me" is equally as frustrating.)
Dialogue prompts work, but my companion never follows me to bed. Clean install of Skyrim (11670) and some QoL mods, and Ostim... nothing major. (less than 120 mods in total) I wish I could pinpoint the reason... a log file, a message on screen... anything. I am shooting in the dark hoping it "just works" but when it does not, I am left without a way to ascertain why.
I watched the video from the author, even added the bed in Whiterun... followed the exact same video steps with Jenassa... she just stands there. My companions DO give out the dialogue line (example "I am glad to be sleeping indoors"), but never moves. When I talk to them again, I can tell them to sleep later, even though they never even tried to sleep.
In all my tries, my companion just sits there, looking at me in bed. LOOT shows no errors... I have no conflicts... Script latency is sub 100ms (45ms-75ms, Elephant's script latency tester).
All my other animations work. Nemesis runs cleanly. OAR shows the sleep animations (Shift-O). I have probably spent 5 hours trying all the recommendations from the install page... tried different, beds, followers, etc. Never once have I managed to snuggle up to my companion. Real bummer. (and I feel like I wasted my time)
As a side note, the Ostim Sleep animations work. Less immersive to go through menus to end up with a snuggle/sleep in bed scene, but it is what I have right now.
As of now I have removed/cleaned all the sleep related mods...beds, lingerie, pillows, etc.. it is a crapton of recommendations just to laydown with your companion... it was easier to install intimacy related mods and the related animations.
I cleaned my save file (ReSaver) and will move on without snuggling up...real bummer.
Again.. to the author... THANK YOU for it. It does work for many folks. A very nice addition to the immersion of the gameplay. (thus my desire to use it).
Maybe something to do with version of Skyrim. I have used mods like this one without issue on old SSE 1.5.97 since they first started with the mod that you have to ask them to sleep each time. But was looking for a new list, decided to try AE to see all the hype...
So mod works out the box for about 3+hrs of actual real life play time. After 3- no more than 5 hours, it stops working, even the dialogue "About Sleeping" disappears from the menu. So as frustrating as it might be that you can't get it to work, I think it's worse when it starts and then disappears lol. I am very experienced in conflict resolution, and it's just not there. My guess it's somewhere inside of the SKSE scripting stuff which I have never messed with in the 10+ years of modding, with many personal mods, but very little scripting.
On a side note, I read a whole lot over the years how horrible Frostfall, iNeed, Campfires, Wet and Cold were on scripting errors, and causing things to break, I never experienced this, but some did apparently, or at least blamed those mods for it... But the "Streamlined" AE crashes just as often, looks no better when modded, still can have studders at times in combat and I have zero of those "bad, outdated" mods. I am starting to think that a lot of people got blindsided with AE and then just went to work trying to make do lol.
The script engine seems faster. I can sort my bags in LotD and place displays about 75% faster than I could on old SSE, other than that, I see no advantage of current version over 1.5.97. But even that is suspect because LotD team always releases solid performance and with my new list I am using the latest Version 6 which could be the reason why it seems much, much faster, as the change log lists too many optimizations to try and list here.
I did want to thank you for the tip about Ostim though, yea kinda sucks to go through the boxes, but it is immersion breaking to anyone that is RP'ing in a RP game to have a zombie follower that never sleeps. I can use NFF on generic, but in the old SSE 1.5.97 it was great to use Auto-sleep for the ones you can't import...
hi, i use muti follower mod(current using Simple Follower Extension AE), i install your mod in a midgame. i found first follower are effected and works, then when i get the second and third follower they act as vanilla. any possible reason?
This works great for me (with the occasional reset quest command in the console) all my followers follow it whether i tell them to get some sleep or they pick up my sleep idle and go themselves, except one, Annekke Crag-Jumper, no matter what i do she wont go to bed, she'll strip to her lingerie but just stand there, if i approach her i will get the line " its time to wake" and she'll re-equip her armour as though shes been sleeping but she wont go to a bed, no matter where we are. Any ideas ? tried disabling and re-enabling her and resetting ai but makes no difference. If i ask her "to do something for me " and point to a bed she will get in it, so its not a pathing issue, so its like she's just ignoring the part of the script that points her to a bed on her own accord. Cant see any conflicts in SEEdit.
Can't remember the last time I had to do any quest resets.. I think it is because of powerofthree's tweaks that fixed it because it's a vanilla constipation issue. But i'll look into Annekke at some point and see what's going on with her. On another note I typically don't use multiple followers.
well i tested those mods, all in new game, and it doesnt work, i dont get it ngl, but at this point is not that important so all good, thx for the help anyway
I have the same issue and followers just don't come sleep with me, have someone ever found a solution? they just say stuff but never come to sleep, if you tell them to go and rest they won't do it neither
It sounds to me like it is the location you are trying to get them to sleep at. Especially if you are commanding them to lay in the bed and they won't. That location or the follower may have to be modded.
Anyone find a mod that could prevent follower from going to sleep in the same bed? i'm trying to find it since hours and hours now ^^" Some help would be apreciated!
Hello! I ve found my answer, it's because it's a Inn's bed and i need to be able to mix https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/95432?tab=posts&BH=0 with https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/95432?tab=posts&BH=0 to be able to use both script, i did the change on the script from Tavern Ai fix, after reading the recomandation from the mod owner of the Inn Follower script but i did not understood how to recompile it ^^"
