We have not pursued or added the anniversary edition.

In principle, this mod should work with the anniversary update.

If you use a Mod Organizer, or Vortex, you could create a mod-list profile with only the native Skyrim DLC and Update enabled and this mod enabled, and see if all the stuff is in there?

We realized that this save is specific to joining Ralof to enter Helgen Keep at the beginning of the game.  We did not test the save by starting a game and joining the Imperial NPC instead, and then entering the Keep.

So, to exploit this save, perhaps start a new game, play through Alduin's first attack, join Ralof, enter the Keep, fight off the Imperial guards, and get the keys to the gate.  Then save your game and exit the game.  Add this save to your saves folder (for your current mod profile).

I can't seem to start up this saved game without an instant CTD.  Does it have any mods installed besides the standard DLCs?

The save was made with only the base game, the update, dawnguard, hearthfires, and dragonborn enabled.  It likely cannot be added to your game-save folders through your mod manager, as you may have to add the save manually to your save-games folder.

(Very verbose run through of our process of testing follows here.  Reviewing this process might help you troubleshoot)

We made the original save using an unmodded skyrim LE, and using only the skyrim.exe executable.  You can still find our original LE Helgen-Headstart save over on the LE Nexus mods page and perhaps import that one to your desktop?  (You do have to start and play the game first without this save, until you get into the Keep with Ralof, and make a first save. And then add this one to the SkyrimSE save folder, and then see if your Skyrim SE finds it.)

Next, when we wanted to port the LE save to Skyrim SE and test the save, we started a brand new Skyrim SE game double-clicking on our native skryimse.exe file, (and not starting skyrim se through any tools in our mod manager).   We had no active mods whatsoever.

So, we first started a new game, with zero saves, played through the opening scenes, made a Nord female player generic/vanilla character and named her Dragonborn, and then followed Ralof into the Keep.  Our character beat the Imperials who came in.  We made sure to get the keys to the Keep before Ralof could. Then we made our very first save.  (This information may need to appear on our description page for this save, if that's where the problem is?)

We exited the game, found and navigated to our save-game folder, where it showed Save 1.ESS, and we added this overpowered LE save (Save 10) to that folder, and then restarted skyrim se with just the skyrimse.exe, and when we went to load games, our save appeared in the saved game list (Save 1 followed by Save 10.)

We loaded it, and tested the character and skills.  All OK!  Next, we needed to see if the save game would work through our Mod manager.

So, next, we fired up Vortex, with no mods enabled, started a new profile, no mods, enabled that profile to have its own saved games, and started a new game, using the dashboard skyrimse.exe, and no mods enabled. Again, we played through the opening scenes as above, until we got our character into the Keep, past the Imperials, and with the keys.  Then we made our "first" save game. We exited, went to the SkyrimSE saved games and added our OP save to the specific save-game folder in Documents that correlated with our new Vortex-Profile-code.  Next, we returned to Vortex, enabled the mods SKSE64, SKYUI, in our same Profile, and now started SkyrimSE through the SKSE64 tool.  (For some reason we have to start Skyrim SE through SKSE twice, as the first time, SKSE doesn't appear, though it does appear on our second attempt to run the game through the SKSE tool.)  When we went to load games, there were our two saves, our first one, getting into the Keep, and then this new and added OP save.  We did note that every time we clone a profile, we do have to start and play the game without this save until we get into the Keep for the first time.

Sometimes, broken object references can cause CTD from imported saves. So this save may not work until you start a new game and play your character into the Keep, first, we think, and make sure the gate is locked, and Ralof waits there.  We hope this helps!

Finally, some users who have downloaded this and used it successfully may wish to weigh in?
