Tarmac Redone is a complete rework of my previous mod Tarmac - A Dog Follower Mod
Tarmac is a hound that can be found in Markarth stables that was left there by his previous owner. The player would receive a letter through the courier to start the acquisition quest. The owner's journal can be found in the inventory of Tarmac, adding a little backstory to give depth to the hound.
Tarmac is an essential follower that will occupy the slot for an animal companion. Not sure if compatible with Skyrim AE, but most likely it is as I didn't use SKSE.
BACKSTORY:
Tarmac is previously owned by an Orc named Gortwog. Together, they journey through the lands of Skyrim for the purpose of surviving while adventuring. However, all journeys must come to an end so Gortwog decided to leave poor Tarmac back where he got him in the first place, in Markarth. The Dragonborn will receive a letter from Banning (the one who sells war hounds) telling that the dog needs a new capable master that can provide him another adventure through the wilds of Skyrim.
INSTALLATION:
Select one file ONLY. Choose what skin you want Tarmac to appear in. Download with your mod manager of choice or a simple drop down on Skyrim/Data folder. REQUIRES DAWNGUARD DLC (except for the vanilla dog texture).
UNINSTALL:
Make sure to dismiss Tarmac first before uninstall to prevent errors. Make a new save after dismissing then exit the game. Uninstall the mod from Vortex, load your new saved game, and save again. Now it should be properly uninstalled.
NOTES:
Here's some of the changes I made and improved from my previous mod:
I reworked the mod completely because I lost the files from the previous one and wanted to start it again from the ground up.

UPDATE:
v1.2:
Tarmac will leave your service if you already recruited him from v1.0. To get him back, you can summon him using the spell or find him again at Markarth Stables. All items you've given him will still be there. If there's no dialogue when you talk to him, just quicksave and reload. This is a common bug, and that method is the only way to fix it.

Here's some of the changes I made and improved from my previous mod:
- Fixed the quest, it will start automatically. I didn't put any delays, so the courier will come for you after Helgen.
- Added a summon spell book in Tarmac's inventory that will let you summon Tarmac whenever.
- Added other default vanilla textures; Armored Husky, Husky, and default Dog; to be compatible with other dog replacer mods.
- Removed the ancient dragon and just moved Gortwog near a dragon's lair
- He will level with you up to lvl 60 only
- Added perks such as Muffled Movement, Lightfoot, and Atronach
