Altered tomes zPatches made with gutieashl's zPatcher are available in this patch's download section titled "Altered Tome zPatches" for first 108 mods that were supported...then I was broken and couldn't make any more. Here's the list of zPatches included:
Big news regarding gutiashl's zPatcher! They've just made a modification to it so that it skips all listed files that aren't loaded. This means that you can now just paste the entire contents of Skyrim Special Edition\Data\Scripts\Source\SpellResearchzPatcherList.txt into the patcher interface instead of having to pick through almost 300 mods to find the 5 mods you're using xD. When making the zPatch, zEdit requires some text to know which script file is needed for each mod being zPatched. In the loose version or source only (and in the BSA) Spell Research Patch Compendium Redux there's a file called SpellResearchzPatcherList.txt that includes every mod. When using the zPatcher only include the lines for the mods you're patching. For convenience here's the file as of v0.939 (Jan 19 2022):
Such a great mod. XD At first I'm so confused, now I'm less confused. Hope I'll install Spell Research Synthesizer sucessfully - so I probably won't need guide / cheat sheet. Very happy the first time I researched 2 novice spells.
Now, I'd like to report for VR: I'm playing in VR. Spell Research 2.2.2 SSE Spell Research Patch Compendium Redux 357 patches BSA version - 0.973 Mod Organizer 2
Current spell mods - Apocalypse, Mysticism, Triumvirate When I get into MCM and import (Re-import I think?), I think it import Vanilla 167, Dawnguard 38 (maybe), Dragonborn 48 (maybe). It then asked me if I want to proceed with the patches or exit -- Yes Do you want to skip the individual prompts for each mod? -- No (I want to see what mods it detects) Then it said 'Spell Research: All Spells Imported' immediately after above. I tested with "Druidcraft" - Novice alteration from Triumvirate >> The spell in your right hand doesn't seem to follow normal spell architexture. Also the same with 'Drop Zone' from Apocalypse.
It's like the import just skip all the spell mods, and can't import from them.
I install via Mod Organizer 2.4.4 - Download with 'Mod Manager Download' button on Mod page. Sort (should be LOOT) with the built-in sorting tool Spell Research.esp at Priority 82 Triumvirate - Mage Archetypes.esp -- 119 Spell Research - Even More patches.esp -- 171 Apocalypse - Magic of Skyrim.esp -- 190
When in game, open MCM, re-import spells.
Did I miss something? Do I need to do something more for this to also patch modded spells?
Maybe I should try Spell Research 2.1.3 SSE ... Edit: (Ah, patch here might not work with 2.1 - I just saw the Note)
Yes, I have Special Edition (in Vortex). Tried Spell Research 2.2.2 + this patch = can import Apocalypse spells. (Didn't install other spell mods, but should work)
Back to VR: I tried 2.1.3 (alone without this patch) it can import apocalypse. Maybe it can import some more mods as stated on its mod page, so no Mysticism, Triumvirate with this method.
Update: I tried Loose version, it still only import Vanilla + DLC I also try bring .esp of both Spell Research / This patch to the end of Load order - Still the same.
Any suggestion? I'm ready to help test in order to make it work for VR. Your patch covers so many spells (and only 1 plugin slot as well). I really want to make it work in VR. Maybe explain to me more what you mean by "non VR setup", because the above reply is what I understood - to try with Skyrim Special Edition which I also have prior to Skyrim VR - and it works in Speical edition, but still not work in VR.
OK, I compared 0.965 and 0.966 and the only change is a change from using GetModByName() to using IsPluginInstalled() annnd (sigh)...ok I just checked SKSE VR on https://skse.silverlock.org/ and sure enough the Game script doesn't have IsPluginInstalled() like SKSE64 does, go figure. Err, uhh well I changed from GetModByName() to IsPluginInstalled() because when using GetModByName(), light plugins will return 255 which is the same reply as if the plugin isn't installed so I'd have to run GetLightModByName() as well which really doesn't make any sense since VR doesn't have light plugins and thus apart from VR doing both would serve no purpose lol.
OK, it's a very easy fix but I'll just need a bit of time to do so, sorry for it taking so long.

Hey didn't take more than like 2 min go figure. OK test this out and let me know if it works. Just install it and let it overwrite any existing files. It in theory will work fine for VR and SE/AE.
Glad I came across this. Been trying to get mods imported for a long time now!
While this worked, I was only really able to get it to work once. I'm not even sure the conditions that made it work though.
Most of the time when I reimport spells, I get the first prompt that asks me if I want to process, but the second prompt that asks me if I want to skip asking for each mod doesn't appear. Then I get the debug text:

But it is blank after the "from", so the concatenated modNames[whichOne] is resulting in an empty string.
Just popping in here to say these fixes worked for me as well! I was running into this issue on the Wabbajack list "Yggdrasil VR" and swapping these in over the modpack maker's own overwrite of the files fixed the problem. Thanks!
Alchemy patch like Caco patch doesn't take those ingredient magnitude into account for spell research balance, you can easily dissolve little ingredient and get a lot of sila rank(highest) solution and either sell a lot for gold, or craft a lot of really strong elixir. Also the patch doesn't really change the effect of elixir and potion crafted with it to follow the system of Caco like having healing potion and poison having their effect spread across seconds
I came to the posts tab to try and figure out why I wasn't able to import any mods but Apocalypse. I didn't find anyone talking about my exact issue, but I did check LOOT and find an error message saying I had the wrong version of Spell Research. Switching to 2.2.2 solved my problem. I'm only posting at all in case someone else has this issue.
its only importing apocalypse. anyone know a work around this? i have colorful magic and arcanum and it's not importing those. I have the other patch downloaded as well

Late reply, but to help others... No fomod needed because it's ok to include tons of patches for mods you don't have because it auto-skips any mod you don't have.

Such a great mod. XD At first I'm so confused, now I'm less confused. Hope I'll install Spell Research Synthesizer sucessfully - so I probably won't need guide / cheat sheet. Very happy the first time I researched 2 novice spells.
Now, I'd like to report for VR:

When I get into MCM and import (Re-import I think?), I think it import Vanilla 167, Dawnguard 38 (maybe), Dragonborn 48 (maybe).
It then asked me if I want to proceed with the patches or exit -- Yes
Do you want to skip the individual prompts for each mod? -- No (I want to see what mods it detects)
Then it said 'Spell Research: All Spells Imported' immediately after above.
I tested with "Druidcraft" - Novice alteration from Triumvirate >> The spell in your right hand doesn't seem to follow normal spell architexture.
Also the same with 'Drop Zone' from Apocalypse.
It's like the import just skip all the spell mods, and can't import from them.

I install via Mod Organizer 2.4.4 - Download with 'Mod Manager Download' button on Mod page.
Sort (should be LOOT) with the built-in sorting tool

Edit: (Ah, patch here might not work with 2.1 - I just saw the Note)
Tried Spell Research 2.2.2 + this patch = can import Apocalypse spells. (Didn't install other spell mods, but should work)
Back to VR:
I tried 2.1.3 (alone without this patch) it can import apocalypse. Maybe it can import some more mods as stated on its mod page, so no Mysticism, Triumvirate with this method.
I also try bring .esp of both Spell Research / This patch to the end of Load order - Still the same.
Any suggestion? I'm ready to help test in order to make it work for VR. Your patch covers so many spells (and only 1 plugin slot as well). I really want to make it work in VR.
Maybe explain to me more what you mean by "non VR setup", because the above reply is what I understood - to try with Skyrim Special Edition which I also have prior to Skyrim VR - and it works in Speical edition, but still not work in VR.

So it seems the version 0.965 is the latest version that still works for VR.
Hope this help you figure what do to fix for VR.

annnd (sigh)...ok I just checked SKSE VR on https://skse.silverlock.org/ and sure enough the Game script doesn't have IsPluginInstalled() like SKSE64 does, go figure.
Err, uhh well I changed from GetModByName() to IsPluginInstalled() because when using GetModByName(), light plugins will return 255 which is the same reply as if the plugin isn't installed so I'd have to run GetLightModByName() as well which really doesn't make any sense since VR doesn't have light plugins and thus apart from VR doing both would serve no purpose lol.
OK, it's a very easy fix but I'll just need a bit of time to do so, sorry for it taking so long.

While this worked, I was only really able to get it to work once. I'm not even sure the conditions that made it work though.
Most of the time when I reimport spells, I get the first prompt that asks me if I want to process, but the second prompt that asks me if I want to skip asking for each mod doesn't appear. Then I get the debug text:

But it is blank after the "from", so the concatenated modNames[whichOne] is resulting in an empty string.
