About this mod
This is a Vampire overhaul, to be used with Requiem - The Roleplaying Overhaul. It makes Vampires balanced for the early and mid game, by making the costs and benefits much more dynamic.

Vampires in Requiem are powerful, really powerful. But they also have crippling weaknesses that make them not very fun to play. Generally you would become a Vampire at the end of a playthrough for the buffs alone, not because it makes sense for the character. This mod nerfs Vampires, but makes them more enjoyable as well. It is designed to allow starting a playthrough as a Vampire, and playing the whole game as such. As you live as a Vampire, your powers grow, and your weaknesses fade away. It takes 50 in game days by default to to master your powers. An MCM menu allows you to customize the experience up to a max of 250 days.
Thirst stages have been removed, with thirst now being dynamic, from 1 to 100. As you age the amount your thirst rises by decreases, until you no longer need to feed. An MCM option allows you to increase or decrease the amount of feeding as you see fit.
- Your health and stamina are buffed up to 200 at maximum age. Stamina and magicka regen rise to 200%.
- You gain frost resistance (starting at 50% rising to 100%) and lose fire weakness (200% down to 50%).
- The unarmed damage scales up to 50 with age, as does carry weight.
Between the hours of 6am to 8pm you will take damage from the Sun. The rate varies depending on several factors, such as the level of light you are in (meaning you can stand in the shadows to avoid damage), your thirst level and the time of day. At zero thirst you take no Sun Damage, meaning you can walk in the sunlight if you stay well fed. Stamina and Magicka are also drained by Sunlight, but thirst doesn't affect them, only Health. You can drain enemies that can't see you, killing them, and giving you a respite from your thirst. For two hours, you will not gain thirst, meaning you can avoid Sun Damage to your health for the price of one mortal life a day, although Stamina and Magicka will always be drained.
Vampire dust now is guaranteed to work, and only does 1 health damage per second, so it can be used from the start of the game.
Misc
- Vampire's Seduction is now a dialogue option, not a power. Requires a speech check that takes into account the targets level, and well as your speech skill, illusion skill and age. All three are needed. This only works on friends, to encourage the character to engage in the story. This immediately gives you the highest relationship rank with them, allowing you to their home and everything in it.
- Feeding gives you a restore health effect for two hours, to make up for the inability to use healing magic.
- The health penalty for feeding on a NPC is now 50, as is the healing you receive. This is to prevent you needing to kill to feed, which tends to make the game difficult to roleplay.
- Vampires can't use restoration magic at all. A 1% multiplier is placed on the magnitude and duration of all restoration spells. You need to bite enemies, or use absorb health spells to heal. Vampires can only take health, not restore it.
- The holy places debuff no longer includes Sovngarde. This breaks builds at the very end of the game, without no way to back out.
- A keyboard option allows you to see your vitals (age, thirst and seduction strength at will). Right Alt by default.
Let me know any other changes you would like.
Thank you Ogerboss for Requiem.
