For Skyrim VR (my Headset is a Reverb G2), I tried a lot of ENBs and found that many are cluttered with effects that are not compatible to VR or have excessive settings (too much saturation, strange brightness levels...) which only works for certain situations. Eventually, I wasn't satisfied with any of them and I created my own. I started originally with Onyx Weathers as a base mod, but I switched my ENB to Cathedral Weathers and Seasons (mandatory to use with!), since it's just a better weather mod and many of you use it. It's done for the most part, but I'm still refining some settings, so expect future updates. An ENB must be tried out in hours and hours of gaming because you will always find some situations where further adjustment is needed. In doing so, I pay attention to keep the ENB as efficient and lean as possible. To get the intended look of the game, some visual mods are needed:
- Cathedral Weathers and Seasons | use it from ENB version 2.00 on! | base mod to get the correct visuals
- Onyx Weathers | use it only for ENB version 1.32! | simple weather mod, especially for VR, choose "default" and "20%" ( night brightness) during installation
- Static Mesh Improvement Mod (SMIM)
- A. Noble Skyrim | best overall texture pack imo
- Whiterun City Wall - Alternative 1
- Glorious Doors of Skyrim
- Majestic Mountains | choose version "Lightside", btw: 'Blended roads' is not neccessary, although the mod tells you
- Cathedral Landscapes | best looking grass & ground textures
- Origins Of Forest - 3D Forest Grass | use 'tweaked highlights' version
- Origins Of Forest - 3D Forest Grass Reduced | needed, otherwise plants are giant
- I think it best fits here: I don't suggest "Folkvangr - Grass and Landscape Overhaul"
- Landscape Fixes For Grass Mods
- Happy Little Trees | Nice realistic trees, for a very lore-friendly alternative you can use "Lush Vanilla Trees"
- Tempered Skins for Females | no problems with 'black face bug' here and make people look way better than vanilla
- Tempered Skins for Males
- Enhanced Lights and FX
- Embers XD
- Skyland Night Sky
- SkyVRaan - Shimmering VR Waters
- if needed: Water Effects Brightness and Reflection | pick this version
most important mods for gameplay / immersion:
- VRIK (+ that), HIGGS, PLANCK | simply the base line mods to make Skyrim VR a real VR game
- SkyUI VR | does not only enhance UI structure, it also enables mod config menus ('MCM's') - simply neccessary
- Spell Wheel VR | very neat mod to choose items from inventory with real VR interaction
- Steeds of Ultima VR | enables fully horse mounted interactions, especially the use of Spell Wheel VR
- Horse Movement Fix VR
- Sprint Jump VR | in the vanilla game, you can NOT jump during sprinting!
- Power Attack VR (not this one) | makes power attacks actually usable for VR (recently this function was also added to PLANCK), this was a mess in the vanilla version...
- Directional Power Attack Notifier
- Instant Equip VR | no lag when sheating a weapon with VRIK
- Dual Wield Block VR
- Flinching | works in VR very nice, but not easy to setup
- True 3D Sound for Headphones | this makes such a big difference, especially in VR!
- Destructible Skyrim - Breakable Objects Beta (+ this one)
- No More Blinding Fog | removes the annoying super bright snow gusts at night
- highly recommended performance mod for WMR users: You can now run SkyrimVR in openXR (so natively in WMR), so that it by-passes the SteamVR overhead by using these 2 great mods (this and that) from coldbomb1 !
... some further suggested mods are listed on my YT video.
The old ENB (v1.32, perfected for Onyx Weathers) comes in two versions: Volumetric sunlight as well as Ambient Occlusion - both on / off. I separated it, because these two effects are the only demanding ones of this ENB. The 'off'-version is almost free of performance impact.
