Yeah, I recently reported some dude that was claiming to have mods but all of his 'mods' were just .ini tweaks of other mods lol. But we can't blame them 100%. I think is 30% people's lack of mod knowledge (Downloading mods without meeting the requierements, wrong load order) 20% of people not reading mod descriptions (Seriously, reading is becoming rare each day) 50% Mod author not writing a proper description page or encouraging users to download his mod.
For me the proper way of doing these kind of mods its using the mod description to actually teach people something instead of cluttering their modlist.
I always understood this was just an ini tweak. I tried the original ini and it was a little jerky and I couldn't get it to work quite the way I like. I actually like seeing my character, but I couldn't figure it out and didn't want to put anymore time into it. Nothing wrong with posting up stuff like this to save people time.
@cleanclouds, @zahriis, with respect, not everyone can be or wants to be a modding wizard - a lot of us don't have the time - you know, because people have jobs, a family, and/or lives with roles to play other than dragonborn lol. Given the absolute headache it can be to mod skyrim to any worthwhile extent (and the subsequent troubleshooting and patches required to make most of those worthwhile mods play nice together), a lot of people find little things like this to be quite helpful. I consider myself very savvy when it comes to things like this, but even I would rather stumble across this (as I did) and not waste my time deciphering config files. I came across this while simply scrolling through random 'popular' mods. The Alt. Convo. Cam. is perfectly fine for the majority of people and I would not, myself, have even searched for something like this specifically, but it sounded like an improvement so I decided to try it out. I would argue that "people's lack of mod knowledge" is A) likely better described as "people who just want to play the game, with some added improvements/QOL tweaks, rather than trying to figure things out on their own and potentially creating issues they are not prepared to troubleshoot themselves," and B) precisely why this "simple change [to the] .ini of the actual mod" has over 51K downloads. Granted, poor author-provided descriptions/instructions and not reading mod descriptions is certainly a big problem as well, but going to the extent of reporting an author for posting .ini tweaks is pretty harsh @zahriis. @youngsmeagol is spot on. common sense is like having a super power these days. ;)
now im not sure why but the conversion camera is not working the way it is shown in the screenshot. instead, my character is right on top of the person im talking to instead of being left like in the screenshots. editing the ini seems to have no effect either. im using tdm and lokis smoothcam preset. could someone assist me with solving this problem please?
edit:
its smooth cam. disable dialogue mode to have it work again.
how do u get the setting to be like in the first pic? my is noting like that ...when i tweak my setting it do noting? this is my setting>>
;Set position of 3rd person camera, ;X is for left-right with positive will move cam right and negative will move cam left ;Z is for up-down with positive will move cam up and negative will move cam down ;Y is for depth with positive will zoom in and negative will zoom out iAddOverShoulderPosX=70 iAddOverShoulderPosZ=60 iAddOverShoulderPosY=0
Oh god thank you. I hated the constant switching to my character, especially because the Dragonborn is basically mute. I wanted something more like the New Vegas/Fallout 3 conversation camera, and this is it.

For some reason I get an error on startup: "[ERROR] Unknown pattern: 4c8b098b5030" and then my game crashesps. installing manually solves the problem

It's compatible with AE.
There is a version for Skyrim SE here: Enderal Font for Skyrim SE
