Q: What's the difference between DVLaSS and EVLaS? A: EVLaS supersedes DVLaSS and uses a completely new approach to fix the sync problem. EVLaS is a drop-in replacement and can be installed at any time, no new save required.
Q: Are DVLaSS patches/configs compatible with EVLaS? A: Configs, no and you probably won't need any because EVLaS detects all necessary information dynamically. Shadow casting patches will in general still be compatible. The underside mesh should fix (most) issues regarding the latter one, so you have to decide on a case by case basis which patches are still necessary.
Q: Any plans for a VR version? A: A port is under consideration but I won't make any promises.
Q: Papyrus version? A: This mod can't be made into a papyrus script like DVLaSS. As mentioned above, the two mods work completely different
Q: Can I use it with X mod? A: Yes, as mentioned in the description
Q: My volumetric lighting is too bright/dim how do I fix it? A: Adjust your weather mod or ENB

The mod creates an amazing atomsphere in the immediate vicinity of the player, and fixes the unrealistic vanilla shadows relative to the sun position.
Unfortunately, it only affects the area around the player, leading to rather jarring issues. In dusk and dawn times, a visible dark circle of shadow is cast according to the game's shadow draw distance. This circle doesn't seem to affect areas beyond the active cell, so shadows pop in as you walk towards new cells and its static objects load in.
Beyond the shadow draw distance you can see brighter areas, that darken as you move closer. This is heavily emphasized by an ENB like Cabbage. As much as I want to love the lighting improvements, the drawbacks are not worth it.
If anyone has a solution to this, please let me know!
as Rudy ENB for obsidian weathers has both this and moons and stars as hard requirements,I would Expect them to work together, but please note that I have no idea if they really are
these are just dlls plugins. If you have CS load it before. Load CS after all dlls plugins. Normally dlls wont get overwritten so load order wont matter much. But with CS there are some exceptions. I cant remember what it was, but some addon needed to be load after something. I think light limit fix need to be last. But yeah forget what i said.
Do I need to turn off VolumetricLightingDisableInterior and VolumetricLightingEnable in skyrim InIs to allow this mod and ENB to handle my interior and exterior Volumetric lighting? how is interior handled by ENB what is the effect setting? I know that GameVolumetricRays handles exterior Godrays but what about interior?
I'm sure it's just my setup being funky, but I was getting massive stutter and significant FPS drops even on the fastest preset during sunset/sunrise. Disabling this mod entirely removed the stutter/FPS drops.
I've got some CPU heavy mods, so for someone with a lighter load order I doubt you'd run into this problem.
Definitely worth a try to see how the performance is, because the effects are really cool.
Someone once mentioned that if you have a weather or seasons (for instance I have Obsidian) that if there is a sunrise/sunset timing out of sync with this mod or vanilla then it can result in a huge performance issue. They recommended going to SSEdit and finding the timings to make them line up correctly. I have yet to find where the setting is and I may be parsing words incorrectly. >.<
Edit: Seems like that data is in the "Climate" record, and my Climate record for Tamriel is completely vanilla, including the timings. Good to know either way, though, thanks.
Where is PerformancePresets like None (default), Balanced, Fast, Faster and Fastest (vanilla-like). In your Mod the are 2 Files EVLaS.cfg (4.1 kB) 📄 EVLaS.dll (137.7 kB), but there is no configuration file ini. So could please tell me how do i change to Balanced.
EDIT I found it was in EVLaS.cfg . I thought it would be call configuration file ini, not EVLaS.cfg.
Has anyone gotten this to work in VR? It seems that the moons are not in sync with the lightning source with the Papyrus version of this mod, using with NAT III and Community Shaders.
