On December 28 2009 the first version of Companion Vilja for Oblivion was released. Today, exactly seven years later, here is the SE-version of Vilja in Skyrim.
It has taken us some time to get her ready for release, mainly for cosmetic reasons; the mod includes many unique npcs with unique faces, and the SE light setting were not treating them kindly. We had especially problems with Vilja's little sister Tindra, who has a completely unique head.
But, now the mod is ready and I hope you will enjoy it.
This add-on will make Vilja more immersive in Solstheim. Requires Vilja in Skyrim and Dragonborn.esm. You'll find the add-on among main files in the files section for this mod.
Please note that you have to be on the Mainland of Skyrim for the add-on to initiate! If you start out in Solstheim, you won't experience any of the changes until you have been back on the Skyrim mainland.
Thanks to all of you, Vilja did the almost impossible.
Vilja was released late in the eveing of 28th of December. Only 72 HOURS!!! after the release, she ended up on a honorable second place in the mod of the month list for december, only a few votes behind the winner. Who would have thought that such a thing would be at all possible? And, had she been released on day earlier, maybe she would even had won? I still haven't fully recovered from that happy surprise, but I sincerely want to thank all of you who voted for her. It's heartwarming to know that so many of you are still enjoying her company after all these years .
MISSING INGREDIENTS LIST at the beginning of Vilja's first quest.
I posted this reply earlier, but it has slided to a previous page, so I'm simply re-posting it as a sticky:
There seems to be a problem with this list (obviously also with the book), however, it's only with the *item*, the quest will proceed normally. I have checked, and I actually did set up this item a bit different than what I then continued to do with other things, so I don't believe there will be any upcoming problems; it's just the item itself that is missing. We will of course eventually fix this up, but as the mod-size is so big and this problem so tiny, we want to wait a little and see if there are other problems that we can sort out the same time. For instance, there seems to be a mod conflict for a limited number of players that have problems with her lightbringing spell, it would be nice if we could do something about this.
So, at the moment, we hope you agree that the inconvenience is so small with having to consol the list that we can wait a little before we make an update.
The list: 2 Taproot 1 Small pearl 3 Slaughterfish scales 2 Mammoth tusks 2 Fly amantia 1 Mudcrab chitin
console if you want the list itself (not necessary): player.additem XX03E7FC 1 (replace the XX with the first two digits that you see when you select Vilja in the console) --------------
FIX FOR CORRUPT FORMLIST
If you for instance remove a mod that includes armor that you have assign to Vilja's wardrobe, her formlists might be corrupted. It has happened in the original Vilja-version and can surely happen in SE, too. But, luckily there is an easy fix for this. It is available in the main section of the downloads, so if you should have unexpected problems with her wardrobe, download it and follow the instructions.
Question to long time users of this mod: Is it worth if I have no interest in romancing her at all? None. Zero. Zilch. My character is aro ace and way more focused on rebuilding the dragonborn museum and becoming the best bard and buying up all the inns so I can sing praises to me and myself as a way to write down my name in history. In truth I am a coward and use any chance to run away from battle or let someone else fight for me. My grandpa prf. Doon has been good at that but I kinda wanted to find a female companion instead. Is there enough interesting content in the non-romance track for her? I want more of a bestie/big sister female companion. I just started and so far I kind of find her a little too wordy and annoying like I did RIgmor. I want a female friend companion mod because my go tos have been Inigo and Professor Benjamin Doon (both non-romanceable - exactly how I like them). And so far both suggestions I got to try instead of those for a female companion with a quest and a story seem not promising. Rigmor pushed romance since the first lines of dialogue. And with Vilja the dialogue is vague enough so far but it seems to slant more toward extremely annoying younger sister you want to strangle (which is not exactly what I wanted but is still better than yet another lover I don't want). So before I put in too much time, can someone tell me if this is worth it and can I ignore romance entirely for this mod? And if she is better as a romanceable companion, can someone recommend a follower with a quest that is female and doesn't have to be romanceable?
Haven't gotten far enough with Vilja to know if the romance is forced (I don't think it is), but I can definitely recommend you a mod that seems exactly what you want: Katana - Journey In The Shadows. It actually comes with three followers, all of which are amazing in their own right. Katana is the first one you find, in Solitude's Winking Skeever. She:
- Is a woman - Has a quest - Doesn't talk a lot - Builds a friendship with you - Is non-romanceable
In fact, none of the three followers are. Aside from Katana there's also another woman as well as a man, and only the man expresses interest in romance but doesn't pursue it. Check this one out if you haven't yet.
Honestly I'm looking forward to download this mod but can anyone tell me how can I start Vilja quest or where I can find her in the first place before I download this follower mod?
Bannered Mare in Whiterun. I always have her on each and every playthrough….and she will tell you how to start her quest, believe me. She knows what she wants, o yes….
Well, what were you expecting? You, I, and the rest downloaded the same version 4.3. There are images of players posted here, comments on how they enjoy the mod, and bug comments, but it's about progression. There are replacer mods for her, add-ons, and Inigo interaction. But somehow your files are corrupt..
I can only suggest re-downloading again. Reload Vilja in Skyrim 4.3 for a Skyrim experience, and install Vilja in Solesthiem for a DLC experience (you will need 4.3 for Solesthiem to work).
Don't add heavy mods mid-playthrough (don't deactive or remove heavy mods of an ongoing playthrough either, even worse to do in fact). Close then reopen the mod manager program you use after installing and sorting another "new" mod, don't go straight into the game right after installing "new" mod(s). Run FNIS or Nemesis before opening game application if you have those. Restarting computer might help too.
@ramoram, he was likely expecting actual help or discussion. Not some ass hat offering neither. If you've nothing constructive to offer, just don't say anything at all. It's super easy And FYI, I'm also having the same issue. Have redownloaded both 4.2 AND 4.3 several times. MO2 doesn't like the mod, so clearly something is wrong if a simple "download, install and activate" doesn't work
In the little window box thing titled "Install Mods" that pops up, click on EMCompViljaSkyrimSE_Vanilla_4_3, then right click on the Data folder in there and set it as the Data Directory, not the first primary <data> folder, and then click OK and then it will install itself. This is a somewhat common thing (perhaps uncommon I suppose) that has to be done for some mods, especially older mods. The mod is very vanilla based, so there wouldn't be any Meshes or Textures folders. Other things like the optional Vilja in Skyrim 5_SeyhebViljaCBBE file will have meshes and textures folders. There's nothing actually "missing", necessarily. Meshes and Textures folders and files are only added with mods that add additional meshes and textures that are external assets, not modified basic vanilla texture assets. Looking in the Inigo mod's folder, it also does not have a Meshes and Textures folders either, same with the Lucien mod, not all custom voiced follower mods have those folders, only if a mod uses meshes and textures that are external assets.
How to fix it (step by step MO2): In MO2, right-click > "Install Mod..." and select the .7z file of Vilja. A window called "Install Mods" will open, showing the folder structure. You will see something like this: EMCompViljaSkyrimSE_Vanilla_4_3 └── Data ├── Scripts ├── Sound ├── Vilja.esp └── ... Right-click on the Data folder inside the EMCompViljaSkyrimSE_Vanilla_4_3 folder. Choose "Set as Data directory". The text at the top of the window should change from: Looks good? No to: Looks good? Yes Now click OK, and the mod will install correctly.
Just installed this and somehow it seems Vilja instantly becomes my follower just from me entering Bannered Mare and not even talking to her. Is this normal? This is kinda of an issue to me as I rather not have any follower mod execute scripts before I even interact with them.
after doing all this : prid xx0881B5 (XX are the first two digits you see when selecting Vilja in the console)additem f 1 for ther form lists, do you then exit the console, save with vilja still naked because you took all her clothes and exit or do you give her clothes back first then exit or will she auto have then when you relaunch the game if you havnt given them back ? it doesnt make it clear.
Vilja is my absolute favourite companion and adds much to the immersion (especially when she leads me back to town, thanks)! She is the reason I play the game uber slowly to listen to what she says, to appreciate the dedicated work on this mod! It's been years since I first downloaded this file and I still utter "Strange," like Vilja, haha! I must grab Emma's mods for the other games! Edit: Thank you very much, Emma, for creating years of wonderful experiences!
