Sorry for lack of my activity for this mod, 2k24 made my free time almost non-existing. When I think I will have it more again, another important matter pop up. I am trying to update, fix and release mods that do not require so much time, for now, but will return to working on IACC.
This may have been obvious to anyone who has been using this mod, but it is seemingly not compatible with the mod "convenient dialogue ui", the camera zooms in too much for you to be able to see the text on the left hand side of the screen. I am using this mod with smoothcam so I am unsure as to if the zooming issues that I'm seeing being mentioned in the comments and bug section are related to this. Its a great mod, just wanted to provide this information to anyone else thinking of using this mod + that one together. Edit - Really fast edit but it appears that the mod author of Convenient Dialogue UI use Alternate Conversation Camera so I am leaning more towards the zooming issues related to me using Smoothcam being the issue. I'll do some more testing to confirm though Edit2 - To get them to work together, bRightSidedList must be set to true in Convenient Dialogue UI, mistake on my end I'll keep it up to inform anyone else who does the same though
For everyone that is using SMOOTHCAM, yes you will have the problem with the FOV change everytime you talk to npc. BUT I FOUND that if you match the two fov values in BOTH MODS, the FOV change will not be a problem anymore.
Smoothcam uses third person offset for the fov adding or subtracting degrees, 0 offset will use the default fov in you ini file (in my case its 80 degrees) lets say you have set your fov in smoothcam to 30, this means your fov its actually 110 degrees (with 80 default as an example). So in ALTERNATE CONVERSATION CAMERA mod menu you'll have to match the WORLD FOV SETTING (for 3rd person) to that number (110 degrees if you added 30 in smoothcam, 80 at default in my case, remember the fov in your Skirim Ini).
This is a great mod and I believe this is the only way of using it without messing with your fov if you have smoothcam installed off course (the option in the mcm menu that allows compatibility with smoothcam didn't work for me).
Hi! Some ideas that would be nice: 1) An option to make the camera move instantaneously when switching between NPCs and the Player (and vice-versa) (but not between NPCs). Currently there's this movement effect that is distracting. Changing the movement speed to 100 does not solve this. 2) X, Y, Z coordinates for when targeting the Player. I want to position the camera on the other side of the player, but keeping on the same side for NPCs. Or a option to mirror the camera position for the Player. 3) An option to force 3rd person when targeting the player, even when there's no room for the camera. (Only to see what would happen). Thanks!
In reality, what I wish is a camera similar to the Fallout 4 camera, were it focus the player when it's his/her time to speak, in a fixed angle, not relative to the npc. I'm trying to edit the source code of the original mod to see if I can achieve this.
If you ever were to succeed, please do share your findings. I'd love a forced first person switch target without the aforementioned camera disco wheelie derby that happens every time it switches perspective.
Absolutely this "movement" effect when facing the different dialogue partners breaks the whole mod and idea (if you like cut-to conversations) for me sadly. I tried to tweak all different values, but no result for instant rotation or slower rotation or something like that. But the mod seems to be neat and nicely done to this point. Thank you very much, perhaps I'll use it when there is an update.
If you're using SmoothCam + TrueDirectional just go into SmoothCams MCM, go to dialogue and disable. Should fix all camera oddities when using this mod with them.
I cant without this mod.But when I hug NPCs (I‘m glad you are here), the camera clips into their bodies, and I end up seeing their teeth or eyeballs. Is there any way to adjust the camera so it doesn't clip through them during close interactions like hugging or kissing?
how do I make the conversation camera first person for both me and and npc as current only I would be in first person when forced first person is enable and the camera wouldnt switch back to me when there is an option to pick.
Is there a way to stop the zoom being so sudden and fast? I enabled smoother zoom in the ini but it didn't make a difference far as I can tell. I have smoothcam and improved camera SE as well, have done the tweaks needed in the pinned messages. If there isn't a way to fix this weirdly fast zoom I probably won't use the mod for the meantime sadly
Would LOVE some assistance from anyone more familiar with this mod than I:
Is it possible to retain focus on the NPC I'm chatting with, no camera pan to look at me, just show over my shoulder, my character's back on screen about 1/3 way across and NPC 2/3 way across? I swear that used to be possible in the original, like 10 years ago.
Hello, love the mod. Got a small issue though and I dont know if i've got something set incorrectly.
I use the switch perspective thing so i can see my character talking in dialogue, and then switching to first person for the npc dialogue but my headtracking is being weird. I've got things that change player and npc scales, currently playing a smaller character. The npcs headtrack just fine, always looking down at me in dialogue. When i talk to them its fine only for interaction; my character is looking up at the npc correctly in first person, they finish speaking and it switches to third person looking at me, i use any dialogue option and then when it switches back to first person to watch the npc speak the headtracking stops working. For the rest of the conversation im looking directly at their chest or waist and its annoying. It happens with every dialogue, head tracking is working fine and then i say anything and then im no looking them in the eyes. Ive tried toggling different headtracking options on and off but nothing works. Is this a known bug?
Ok so headtracking does seem to work, but for some reason it locks my head tracking onto the npc's crotch. Just had a conversation as someone crouched and stood up, the tracking followed him but was focused on his crotch??
Everything's working fine for me except for the letterbox effect. For some reason the bottom black bar is floating too high up on the screen so that there's a gap between the bottom bar and the actual bottom of the screen. Is this something I have to adjust myself somewhere, like setting the aspect ratio?
Edit: Well, just deleted and reinstalled the whole thing and everything's fine again. Nevermind then lol.
It works well for the majority of time for me but sometimes I gef an issue where the camera doesn't switch back to me after the NPC is done speaking, and dialogue options don't show up either.
But then if I spacebar it still progresses the conversation like I picked something (it picks whichever would be the first option in dialogue choices). So it seems the dialogue menu still pops up but turns invisible. Any way to fix this?
Go into MCM -> True Directional Movement -> Directional movement page -> Dialogue mode and change it to Disable. (Defualt is face speaker which causes it to be messed up)
Most dumb, incompatible and lazy-made mod I've used. Basically any mod that even touches on any camera tweaking will break this converation mod. Dialogue options not showing up all the time. Camera getting behind player's back in third person so that I cant see the NPC that is talking to me. Camera that gets inside walls.
Its much better to have less immersive but stable vanilla camera that this.

Hope this helps!
Change bEnableOverride to 0 under [FOV] in "ImprovedCameraSE Mod"\SKSE\Plugins\ImprovedCameraSE\Profiles\Default.ini
To allow this mod's FOV settings to apply.
Otherwise, you will get a stuck FOV despite changing MCM settings or console cmds.

Sticky, to not forget while I enjoy BG3
