FOREWORD
This is a result of long and thoroughly work. I made this mod after realize that in whole Nexus there is no mods that adequately overhaul item weights and prices. Other mods that claims to be realistic are either unrealistic, or unbalanced, or are too rude by simply increasing or decreasing parameters of a whole category of items. So I decided to make this mod.
Purpose of this mod is to bring more balance and realism to ingame items, make ingame economy more alive and fair. Parameters of thousands of items been manually adjusted. Fixed weight and price discrepancies. You will be please of not only selling, but also buying many useful stuff such as potions and scrolls, which became more affordable and useful.
Most enjoyable to use with needs and reduced carry weight mods.
I consider ingame weight as pounds (lbs).
What’s wrong with vanilla balance?
A lot.
Did you notice that elven sword is heavier than full set of elven armor, which is totally nonsense?! - This mod fixes all such weight inconsistences.
Did you notice that heavy armor is less useful compared to light armor? - To solve this problem I increased armor rating of heavy cuirasses by +30%. So now it’s at least better for defence, not just heavier.
Did you notice that many of clothes and pretty misc items worth almost nothing? - This mod fixes it too.
WEAPON
Weight of all weapons reduced to realistic values.
Weapon cost is forming by formula: materials cost+50% (in average).
Low-level weapons are more expensive, except bows – they are cheaper.
Greatswords are +15% faster.
Swords are more expensive than axes and maces (for purpose of realism).
Craft recipes changed to be more realistic and balanced.
Forsworn weapons are weaker and cheaper.
Ancient nordic (not honed) weapons now are slightly worse than steel (by reason to stimulate player to buy steel at early levels, and it looks worse too).
Damage swap between dragonbone and daedric arrows (daedric are better now).
Pickaxe and woodcutter axe now are slower but deal more damage.
Weapons now have such weights:
Swords: 3.5 - 5.5
Axes 4 - 6
Maces 4 - 8
Greatswords 8 - 12
Battleaxes 9 - 15
Warhammers 10 - 18
Reworked and slightly increased weapon price depending on weapon type.
Example:
Default iron weapon values: sword=25; axe=30; mace=35
Modded iron weapon values: sword=45; axe=35; mace=40
ARMOR & CLOTHES
Price, weight, armor rating and craft changes.
Heavy cuirasses have +30% to armor rating. Some have decreased weight (blades, bonemold, ebony, daedric).
Light armor is heavier.
Forsworn armor is weaker and cheaper.
Guard wooden shields now are light armor.
Blades armor now much lighter (according to its appearance).
Cultist clothes now have armor rating.
Common clothes are more expensive, and now you can trade it at least for food.
Weight of clothes now close to real.
MISC ITEMS
Many of misc items are more valuable and theft-worthy, and now you can trade yourself some food for them.
Weights are more realistic.
Books: cheap books now cost about x4 times more (what was 3 coins before, 12 coins now).
SCROLLS
Scrolls price depends on their usefulness.
Many scrolls are -50% cheaper; some are more expensive.
Many scrolls are +50% more powerful and time-durable (conjuring, reanimation, fury, calm and so on).
Now you have more interest to use them, and less to sell. Maybe you would even like to buy them!
POTIONS & POISONS
Most potions and poisons are cheaper (-50%).
Instant-restore potions and ingredients now have 5 sec duration.
Many long-action potions now have increased duration (60--> 90sec or 60--> 120sec).
Fear\Frenzy poisons now +50% stronger (only non-crafted).
Crafted potions and poisons are -75% cheaper; some of them are still profitable for trade.
CarryWeight potions now lasts 8min instead of 5min (only non-crafted).
Invisibility potions now have +50% duration (only non-crafted).
Waterbreathing potions now have x1.3 duration (only non-crafted).
INGREDIENTS
Some price and weight changes.
Some common ingredients are cheaper (lavender, mountain flowers, wheat, mushrooms, …)
FOOD (optional)
Separate plugin, you can download it from Optional files.
Realistic weights, price adjustments, recipe edits, several new recipes.
Restoration properties unchanged.
Cheese wheels can be cutted to wedges (12 for goat, 8 for eidar).
Removed salt from the simplest recipes (such as cooked rabbit, salmon, goat, horker etc).
Potato soup now requires leek (because what a potato soup is without a leek?!!).
New recipes: baked potato, cooked boar meat; vegetable soup from a gourd.
Cook more units of food:
Stews: 1-->2; Some soups 1-->2. Dumplings:1-->2. Cooked beef: 1-->2. Potato bread 1-->2. Garlic bread 2-->3. Mammoth snout 1-->4. Elsweir fondue 1-->2.
*If you use some needs mod (like Survival mode) that change food properties, then place this mod before that mod in load order.
*Should be fully compatible with SunHelm.
ENCHANTMENTS
Unchanged
SMITHING CRAFT
Craft is less profitable now.
Many recipes been changed to be more realistic and balanced.
Some recipes require more or less materials depending on appearance of the crafted item.
For example, to craft a heavy cuirass you need 8-10 ingots instead of vanilla 4.
Price of craftable items been adjusted to correspond the cost of materials. It forms by formula: material cost+50% (in average). For very common items this percentage is smaller or none. Ingots and ores are heavier (iron ingot weights 3, ebony 2.5; moonstone 1.5). It is still not enough realistic compared to their visual appearance, but more balanced.
Craft twice as much daedric and dragonbone arrows (24-->48).
Dwarven scrap weights more, but gives more ingots when smelted.
How the game economy will be changed? Global economic changes.
Realistic weights can cause significant impact on the economy. Some items will be much more preferable to pick up, some - much less.
More interest of purchasing potions and scrolls because they became better and cheaper.
Crafting is less profitable, especially alchemy.
Less profit from selling light armor (because of weight).
Less profit from selling potions. Much less from crafted potions.
Less profit from selling scrolls.
Less profit from mining (because of weight).
More profit from selling weapons.
More profit from selling clothes.
More profit from selling common items.
