I am experiencing issues with Skyrim Together Reborn 1.7.1 on Skyrim Special Edition 1.6.1170. The game crashes when I attempt to connect to a server. I have installed the game and the mod correctly, and my friends have identical setups, including the same version of Skyrim and mods, and they can connect to the server without any issues. However, when I try to connect, the game freezes for a moment and then crashes, returning me to the desktop. The game was working fine with Skyrim Together Reborn 1.5.0, but it fails with version 1.7.1. System setup:
Skyrim Special Edition 1.6.1170 (licensed version)
Skyrim Together Reborn 1.7.1
SKSE (latest version compatible with SE 1.6.1170)
Minimal mods (only the default ones that come with Skyrim)
Issue details:
I have checked and ensured that my game files are not corrupted.
I have tried reinstalling the game and the mod multiple times.
I have also tried with only the base mods and SKSE installed (no additional mods).
The issue seems to occur when connecting to a server. The log shows that the connection is received, but then it ends with a 'NULL' disconnected error: [22:49:41.467] [info] [tid 5264] c Connection received 4e8eff96[22:51:54.718] [info] [tid 5264] Connection ended 4e8eff96 - 'NULL' disconnected
The logs do not show any new errors after the disconnect. The problem persists with the same logs and messages.
What I’ve tried so far:
Checked the integrity of the game files (no issues).
Reinstalled the game and mod multiple times, but the issue persists with version 1.7.1.
Verified that the network and firewall settings are fine, and other programs (e.g., SKSE, etc.) are not causing the issue.
Tried launching the game with only the base Skyrim mods enabled, but the issue still occurs.
There are no other new error messages in the logs besides the disconnection.
What works:
Skyrim Together Reborn 1.5.0 works without any problems.
Additional Information:
The game crashes only when trying to connect to a server. Everything works fine in the single-player mode.
My friends are able to connect to the same server using identical game and mod setups.
The mod edits puzzle door script and a few others so that they sync with other players properly, but somehow this functionality only works through Skyrim Together client, in single player it straight up breaks the puzzle, therefore don't keep the mod always enabled.
It seems to work fine when first loading in but after re-loading an area any NPC with the Bijin or KS Hairdoo hairs will get the purple "default/missing texture" color. The odd part is this is under the HDT-SMP physical hair, so the charachter gets two hairstyles.
With the exact same load order I can load into SKSE-64 and it works with no issue, but when i swap my load to Together Reborn I get the above behaviour.
I've been troubleshooting this with load order, reinstalling all the mods, and checking for overwrites for days now but it seems to just be a possible engine issue? From what I'm reading this is possibly something fixed in the Engine Fixes, but this Mod is incompaitble with Together Reborn.
Does anyone happen to know exactly what the fix is within Engine fixes that solves the hair loading issue? Could be great to find a way to get it working or otherwise implimented into a Skyrim Together Reloaded save.
You can try using this community fork instead (which is 1.7.1-compatible) and see if it resolves your issue. It has bUseFaceGenPreprocessedHeads re-enabled that is required for head/hair mods to work properly
I have just (theoretically) installed this mod for the first time - I followed all the steps to the word, but I'm not quite sure if it worked... Is there any easy way to tell if I have properly installed Skyrim Together?

Followed the steps carefully.
Working great!
I can't believe we're playing Skyrim together!

https://wiki.tiltedphoques.com/tilted-online/guides/client-setup/using-vortex-mod-manager-vmm/playing-skyrim-together-reborn/connecting-to-a-server
But I am on the 'First Time Launch' screen, and nothing I does will change it.
I reread the guide and saw that I was supposed to click "Mod manager download", and that downloaded the correct version through MO2.
Great mod! Haven't encountered any major issues (that weren't self inflicted).
