I have doubled the polygon count on all the Whiterun Farm Fence meshes (the horrible five sided poles now have ten sides) and have also added small improvements like slightly deforming the poles and planks to give them a more rustic/natural appearance, adding visible 3D "nails", adjusting the plank orientation and size to try and prevent clipping into other geometry and reworking the texture UV's to remove "stretched" textures and improve the perceived texture resolution. I also created new, more complex, collisions for all meshes. The new collision meshes are slightly adjusted versions of the original lower poly fence meshes. Aesthetically I tried to stay close to the vanilla look.
Compatibility:
This mod replaces only mesh files, no plugin/ESP included. No textures are included in the download, your own load order will determine the actual textures used.
Please Note:
This is my first time using Blender to edit Skyrim meshes and it involved quite a bit of research and trail-and-error to finish this project. I have tested the mod myself in my own load order without any issues thus far. That being said, one person can only test so much. Please report any issues so I can attempt to correct it.
Installation:
Use your preferred mod manager to install as per normal.
Changelog V1.1:
With the update I have reworked the rope at the top of the main pillars. I have added the SMIM rope as a separate object. This both looks better in my opinion and also prevents any texture abnormalities.
I also reworked some texture UVs, especially the ones on the animated gate.
An optional file has been uploaded that changes the fence in Whiterun to a high poly version similar to the main mod. I chose to make this file optional as the mesh is actually part of the Whiterun town itself with the fence only being a small part of the mesh. By making it an optional installation you can choose not to use it if it creates a conflict.
Update: Added Lux Orbis version of the Great House Fence under Optional Files section. This file adds the new fence to the Lux Orbis version of wrgreathouseplatform02.nif
Use only one version of the optional files as they will conflict if installed together. The conflict won't cause any issues, but you will have to resolve it within your mod manager. As these are only meshes it is safe to remove and install any version mid save.
