Please let me know if there's any issues, Fishing is a very expansive and complex addition to AE. So I may have missed something somewhere.
If you're getting strange Fishing-related dialogue topics on random NPCs, then you'll need to wait until your next playthrough to use this mod. You cannot use this mod on a savegame that is already running Fishing.
Also, yes, unfortunately this mod cuts Giant Enemy Crab. It was too complicated to try to isolate and "reduce". In the future I may explore avenues of reimplementing it.
Attention: This mod is not safe to use on an existing save. It breaks almost all NPCs. They will only have the dialogue option "what's wrong" and will then give you a mudcrab bounty.
When I made a new character, I did not run into this issue and things functioned normally.
ONLY INSTALL THIS MOD ON NEW CHARACTERS IF YOU RUN INTO THE ABOVE GLITCH.
Tested on GOG version, not sure what the results would be for Steam.
It's not even a matter of not reading, though. Common sense should tell you without it needing to be written down that installing something mid-save that strips out quests, scripts, and NPCs is a bad idea.
Thank you! I cannot stand most (if not all) of the CC content, but find the Fishing questline to be one of the most annoying. Nothing is more infuriating to me than taking the Lexicon and then being forced to talk to a voiceless NPC about a crab! I avoided the Riften docks, or opened my last save to escape this madness. But...
I seriously do NOT need a note handed to me by NPCs. Thanks to the inane questline in Fishing, I don't ever want to fish in Skyrim - not even a reduced cut.
Unsure if anyone else had this issue, but I found I couldn't craft a Dwarven Fishing Rod and had to make a COBJ entry in xEdit. Couldn't find a COBJ in either the original CC files or Fishing - Reduced Cut's despite there being a global for checking dwarven rod crafting in both! Thanks for the mod Tate, makes fishing actually enjoyable for me without the need to rush quests.
If I wanted extended cut verision of a quest, I wouldn't be asking on the reduced cut mod page. Now would I? Also, I never used that mod and had no idea of your involvement in the making of the extended cut mod. I found an alternative mod that does what I need anyways.
Finally I can walk onto the docks at Riften without a fish being thrust upon me. I used to have to go to bizarre lengths to try to get the lexicon or deal with Sardris Idri without getting that bloody quest shoved into my quest log.

If you want to do the quest then use the Voiced version or Jayserpa's overhaul.
If you don't want to do the quest then use this one.
