    Crown Helmets Redux

Oaristys has picked up and continued the mod adding new features and better balance as well as new models. Check it out. Currently she doesn't have a replacer version so if you'd like you can use my mod alongside hers. If you use the addon version then feel free to replace this mod with hers, I have. ^_^

Thank you all for the kind words and support.

Ported over to SSE using Ousnius's brilliant tool SSE Nif Optimizer: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/4089/? for the meshes, put together with Bethesda's Creation Kit for SSE from scratch and checked with SSEEdit.

There is some clipping with the beast races but they can use these. They have the same stats and crafting requirements as their helmet counterparts. They are not replacers but independent items. If there is enough interest I should be able to make a replacer version. Let me know.

Let me know if there are any bugs or anything. (Beyond the clipping).

Pnkrd made the original meshes and I'm not really in a position at this time to do much to them but if I've mislabeled or missed a tempering recipe or something let me know. I've tested it myself and I think I've got it all right but just let me know. Otherwise enjoy the mod!

On the original mod's description page it says:
"-All of the crowns are craftable and temperable standalone helms."

so it started as a replacer but was made into a standalone if i'm not mistaken (haven't tried it myself yet)

KS hairdos is a hair mod, if you meant to ask if the hairs from KS Hairdos will CLIP when used with these crowns, then yes it might, there is no easy solution to solving clipping for several hairs or even vanilla hair.

The replacer still needs an esp?

In order to make it work correctly (as best it does anyway) for the beast races yes. I suppose if you didn't care about that and you know how to do such things you could just rename the files. I've honestly never made a replacer before, although I know in theory how to do it without an esp. I looked into it a little and with some of the files as they are this just seemed easier and more reliable in case I messed up something. Even in Pnkrd's original files and in the ones he sent me there were some minor issues. For instance the female Dragonbone Crown and Dragonscale crown look the same but he has screen shots of them looking just like the male version. I even checked his old page and downloaded the files again to be sure it wasn't my mistake and that's just how they are. And one of them only has one weight nif period. It still works but there it is. I really wish I could have finished his work. But I could never get the programs, time and a good tutorial to line up at the same time. I'd accept help if it were offered. I'm good at using assets in the CK and even though it is annoying and crashes or undoes work all the time I'm still patient with it. I just need someone who is good with meshes and has the time and willingness to assist me. I'd put it together for them no trouble and give them full credit and access to the mod as a coauthor.

I've modified a lot of stand alone mods into replacer versions. Over the next week or so I'll take a look into the files and see what can be done. I ride the esp/bsa limit is all the reason I ask.

Thank you for porting this; maybe I can uncheck that 'only show helmet in combat' option!

Well, if you want to make a replacer version that does not require an .esp I'd be fine with hosting it as an optional file. The files are Pnkrd's so I can't say he would or wouldn't mind you hosting them yourself. I doubt he'd mind but I'm not comfortable saying he would. If you ask and he says it's cool then go for it, though. ^_^

Oh no; if I found a solution it would be for you. I've looked into it and made a full replacer. One huge issue though; by decree, using the default helmet pip, the game expects there to be no hair; and in some cases no head.

So an esp less replacer version is not in the works.

Yeah see that was also an issue I'd noticed. Because I'm really replacing Helmets with Circlets it is a little tricky to convince the game to do it without making your head or hair or ears or all of the above vanish. It's stubborn that way. I do feel better that someone with more experience at making replacers has had the same issues though, makes me feel more confident that the esp version was the right call. Thanks for looking into it. ^_^ And I understand about running a lot of esp's and wanting to shorten the list whenever possible. I wish this were able to be done that way.

I have been using the oldrim version. Thank you for updating it to SSE. I hope you make the replacer version as that's the one I mostly use.

I've uploaded an optional replacer version. Test it out and let me know if there are any bugs or problems with it, if you like.

EDIT: Ebony helmet is giving me the daedric model. Other than that looks great.

You are very right. Sorry about that. I've uploaded a fixed version. I also poked through the others just to be sure but I could have missed something. A warning the female Dragonbone and Dragonscale look the same but that is the case with his old files and the ones he sent me, I even double checked by redownloading his old stuff and that's just the way it is. Thanks for catching that and let me know if you notice anything else wrong with it. Hopefully all bugs are squashed.

Yeah for some reason the Nexus has been doubling my posts as well and all I do is wait for it to stop spinning and it times the page out. Odd.
