Strange, I always make some tests before posting and it worked fine on my side.
What you describe about vanilla appearance not displaying might be an error during installation (I suspect you kept 4thUnknown mod and my mod in 2 separated directories). You should follow these steps: 1- Install 4thUnknown mod 2- Install my mod 3- Open my mod directory (you can remove it after step 4), copy all files 4- Open 4thUnknown mod directory, paste all files 5- Double-click on the .bat file to rename meshes files (or do it manually if preferred) 6- Tick my ESP (ESPFE format) in your load order
You can launch your game (to make a quick test your can open your console ingame and enter "player.addspell 204c3" command), normally it should work.
If you still can't see both versions, maybe I didn't understand correctly what your problem is. What didn't work for you, conjure flame atronach spell or BOS distribution? In this case could you provide some details about your installation (with a screenshot of your LO and active mods?).
No problem mate, glad you could be able to solve this installation problem! :) Technically you can use any retexture mod for vanilla appearance, it should work out of the box. I lock this thread for other users to find it easily, but don't hesitate to rush into me if you still have any compatibility problem and enjoy mate! :)
Seems like with MO2 you just right-click on your bat file and select the "Execute with VFS" and the bat file will correctly find the meshes from 4thUnknown's mod and generate the renamed ones to the "overwrite" directory.
Oh, very interesting, I wasn't aware this would work with VFS, thanks for sharing this information mate! I pin your message to remind me to add this to my variants mods description <3
Is there a way you could set up the Desecration and Coldharbour patches to only summon their 4thUnknown variants?
I have the patches running without the main file (since the main file was causing vanilla Flame Atronachs to become invisible) but I was hoping there was some way to exclude the vanilla models entirely and only have the 4thUnknown Flame, Necrotic and Coldflame versions.
Will this work if I only download one of the optional files and not the main? I have the shadow spell package and I like the idea of only the shadow atronachs having this variant look instead of the fire ones also so would this be possible like this?

I guess it's for the dead version?

Can you make a patch to support this one as well?
