Vortex users could just go to the plugin tab, click on the SkyUi esp, and press the "Mark as Light" button on the right-hand side, and Vortex would mark the plugin as esp-fe.
Seriously, this works now? I've been letting this and all the Racemenu mods just sit there as ESPs even though xEdit said I could just flip the ESL flag without compacting. Looks like I just freed up 4 more ESP slots, que bueno! Kudos!
Yes, it's safe to flag the record manually/automatically(using xEdit built-in script) in xEdit. What's not safe is if you use a compacting form ids for ESL.
and yes you should always flag esp as esl whenever it can.
I usually do, it is just a handful of them I have been warned about over the years. RaceMenu is another... so thanks for clearing that up... I'm always good with an extra slot...
Ok nevermind. I just remembered and saw that i do have esl for skyui and used it and played for months and it works. lol I don't remember that i added esl or maybe it is in the mod itself. I am in vortex and i can sometimes just switch the mod to light in the plugin tab if available so I guess I added the light plugin. So yeah, skyui light plugin works. lol
Flagging changes nothing on existing saves. Compacting Forms on the other hand does since that changes existing Forms. It's 2 completely different things.
You can easily do it with Wrye Bash. Right-click on esp, "check esl qualifications", and if the esp pass it then " add esl flag" et voilà. It works for racemenu and so on and it's the best way to easily turn LE mods to SE.

if you're confused on when/what esp mod can be flagged as esl, you can set -PseudoESL in SSEedit launch parameter and apply script SetESL. It's always safe compared to compacting form ids esl
You'll have compatibility issues with esl if you use compact form id for esl with esp which is the master of other mods. If you change form id from master esp, slaves esp can't retrieve the content of the master. Turning esp into esl by just adding esl flag have just compatibility issues if you do it on an existing save game. The better is always to start a new game after turning esp into esl.

That is what I have been told as well, so I'm wondering how safe it is. Flagging it esl apparently can break things in it, from what I understand.

I can't do that, the author don't allow redistribution of their files. this mod is only possible because i got permission for SkyUI
