Book Covers Skyrim - Lost Library brings high quality covers in the style of Book Covers Skyrim to a very broad range of over two hundred books from previous Elder Scrolls games and their expansions. It is a logical extension to Book Covers Skyrim and is fully compatible with this mod.
Subjects range from light-hearted comedy, traditional poetry, plays, stories and legends to heretical diatribes, dark prophecies, cult agendas and insane gibberish.
The new books will be found on Merchants of many types as well as on any NPC that you would expect to have books in their inventory. Similarly, any container that could previously provide a book will have a chance of the new titles.
Please be aware that the Merchants are not guaranteed to have one of the new books as the lists they draw from have a chance of no item. While a General Merchant is quite likely to have a Cheap or Common book or two, you would have to ask the Jarl's Wizards or the Orc Wisewomen if they are lucky enough to have any of the rare or valuable books. Members of the Thieves Guild with access to the Fences will find they tend to be well supplied. Urag in Winterhold is particularly well connected with book suppliers and Brand Shei in Riften has a specific interest that fits with his history.
One book has been defined as a skill book for each of the game's skills and has been hand-placed in the world. Placement does tend to have a certain logic to it. While some are fairly easy to find, others are well hidden. If you are used to searching for rare items in Morrowind, you will feel at home here. Skill books will never appear in a Merchant's inventory or on an NPC. Many of the skill books will have an owner that you may have to become friends with in order to take the book without stealing.
I use All Books Are Skill Books mod. I really like the covers in this mod and the Lost Libray mod, but it seems like I can't have all 3. How do I keep the 300 original books as skill books, but have your retextures?
The two mods are not comptible and would need to have a patch made so that you could keep the BCS textures, OBND, weight and value changes but also the All Books skill point script addition. The comments in All Books gives a few pointers but assumes you are familar with xEdit.
My loot shows "Error: Delete. Already included in Legacy of the Dragonborn" when this mod is installed. However, my books don't look good texture-wise without "Book Covers Skyrim." They have a vanilla look.
Legacy of the Dragonborn already includes BCS in its Compilation so you do not need this mod. The fact that the books look Vanilla in game if you remove the BCS standalone implies you have some other Compatibility Patch that is conflicting with how Legacy of the Dragonborn is set up.
Remove the standalone BCS mod and all mods or compatibility patches that are not part of LotD until you find the one that is making the books look wrong. It may be something to do wth renaming books, or adjusting the values and weights.
I would like to see a Japanese Covers Version, but only where the Textures have been changed to Japanese, not the Contents. Why? Simply for the aesthetic to fit in with my MOD Configuration, because of the excessive number of MOD's just around Katana's and other Japanese Blades.
I've had this mod in my load out for a VERY long time. I am about to start a Dragonborn dlc playthrough (a lot of Mora mods and what not) are the black books covered as well? Or would I need to get some mods for those specifically
Where have two mods and their authors gone: "Book Covers Skyrim Updated" and "Book Covers Skyrim Update REDUX"?
The only thing I could dig up was a link to the latest version of "Book Covers Skyrim Updated v3.5.2" https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/58376?tab=files&file_id=375226
Of course you may. Please remember that it must remain a free mod (Donation Points are fine) because some of the stocks I used have Non-Commercial permissions.
If you need to create new normal maps I think you can still get an "Indie" license of nD0 for that purpose. Not sure that they call it or charge for it now because it has been a while since I last used it. I think CrazyBump is a free alternative but it is unsuported and much older.
Its mainly just the Textures. The normal Maps are fine. Here's an example of the work I been doing. Before and After images. I didnt change the styles or anything. The Style, I kept in tact as best I could.
Installed only because I started using Praedy Apocrypha (where the use is suggested ), this gonna stay in the load order for very long I suppose. I didn't immagine it could add so much to the atmosphere and immersion. Great job

What's wrong?

May I publish a USSEP patch for this mod that is up to date? I have made this for my own use so far.
Thanks for the permissions.
