Important Information and Common Solutions for Problems
Ensure VRAMr is installed as a mod and activated (ticked/enabled) in MO2
Special characters in your mod / folder names can cause both VRAMr and VRAMr SMO to crash - remove the special characters by renaming the mod in your Mod Manager and try again
Temporarily disable AV if VRAMr is behaving unexpectedly. VRAMr has been scanned for Viruses by TotalVirus
Be 100% sure you are choosing a drive root for your VRAMr folder (ie. select just D:\ and a VRAMr folder will be created)
Windows User Access Control (UAC) can prevent creating a VRAMr folder on C:\. It is recommended you create your temporary VRAMr folder on a different location/drive
Check the Optional and Old Downloads sections for GPU processing scripts and to download previous User Guides
Try running MO2 as Admin Or launch an Explore Virtual Folder in MO2 and then.launch an Admin console
If the pop-up windows to select the folder for your Skyrim EXE does not appear, try temporarily unmounting any cloud storage (OneDrive, Google, Amazon, FTP) and/or any externally USB/SD drives
Send us your VRAMr Logfiles (via Pastebin or similar) if you would like a support response
Hello everyone! My name is PogIsDog, and from now on I will be doing my best to provide support for VRAMr. I've gotten quite comfortable with the program and believe I can provide sufficient help for many.
Gavwhittaker, the creator of VRAMr has granted me the privilege of doing this so he may focus on development. This means new versions will get much more time to minimize any potential issues and receive further optimizations.
That being said, providing your logfiles remains the best service you can do for us. They will often have crucial information for helping with issues that truly are the fault of VRAMr. If for whatever reason I am unable to help with a specific issue, I can report the issue to gavwhittaker and he may solve the issue accordingly.
I'm really hoping I can be of good use to you all! I will do my best to get you out of whatever issues you may have and get you back in the game playing Skyrim with much less vram usage and much more smoothness!
RECOMMENDED LOAD ORDER (Please close all unnecessary programs like discord, browsers, etc. When running demanding tools in this load order such as VRAMr, xLODGen and Dyndolod)
1. MisMatchR 2. ParallaxR 3. BENDr 4. VRAMr 5. PG Patcher (ParallaxGen). 6. xLODGen From this point - disable VRAMr's output 7. Texgen 8. Dyndolod VRAMr's output can now safely be enabled again.

hi gavwhittaker, i tried using this mod in the past but it didn't work for me.
i wanted to try again because i have huge fps issue with vr but again it doesn't work for me i only got an output of 3gb when most folders inside are empty. is it because i'm using vortex? i just don't understand what i'm doing wrong, can you maybe help me?🙏
As of v14 vortex is not supported, but the method has not changed. It may or may not work for you.
Check the articles section to look at the guide. Then you may also want to send your logfiles over. Could be insufficient storage or a case of no privileges. You can try to run your mod manager as admin for starters and run VRAMr to see if there's any changes. Keep in mind it can be somewhat small regardless because v14 has done a lot of work to keep the output smaller than previous versions.
hi thanks for replying. it's a shame that vortex is not supported maybe you should write a message that you stopped supporting vortex so other vortex users won't get confused.
i can see that v13 is in the File archive so should i install v11?
I recently installed v14.74 of VRAMr on two laptops yesterday using Vortex while setting up the GTS: Legacy of the Dragonborn collection. I found bits and pieces of explanation scattered about their Discord channel and the VRAMr Vortex Guide link, so I scribed down the process afterward - it seems to work fine for me and it really smoothed out my game - thanks for the great utility!
The collection author posted it the Articles section on his mod page for the collection. It's got some formatting issues at the moment, but he's going to fix those up soon. Hope it helps. Cheers.

Well, so far it's success rate has been 2 for 2 if you count both laptops I installed it on. I only made the rough version last night and niced it up today, so it's not had a lot of usage yet. Vectorr made some edits to it as well to make it more compact than my original... I wrote it pretty detailed originally, mainly aiming for a monkey to be able to do it (with me being the monkey).
Vrammr worked 100% for me in vortex, however now i want to redo it as i have tons more graphics and i've deleted everything i can find but it still sayas that its in my load order
i did like the vortex guide says, i install with vortex and deployed mods, then i set it in dashboard like in the article and started it, i chose optimum option and set to D: drive where my game is also located.
still i got 3gb output and most of the folders are empty, could it be that it doesn't open the bsa files since i can only see that it opens and copy the loose files.
or maybe it suppose to be 3gb output? then why there so many empty folders?
Vortex support has always been stated as only 80% for this reason...where MO2 rounds up the BSA's in the VFS at \data for BSA extract to find them, Vortex leaves them distributed and so are not truly fully found and processed, meaning as you say only loose files are processed.
your explanation does make sense to me now, i guess that's another reason to move to mo2. i will search for help in reddit to move to mo2 and then i will try again thanks for your help
Completely fixed my stutter issue that I've had for years. I had 0 expectation from this mod. Took me about 3 hours to run it in the background. I thought I would get an error or that something would go wrong, but no. Went in game, and the vram usage went down significantly. And the stutter is completely gone. Even in a major city, I get no stutter at all. Plus I can't even tell the difference in game visually speaking. I'm blown away. Thanks !
VRAMR is much faster than before! Thanks for this wonderful tool, Gav! Just wanted to make a note: I was getting errors during the process until I detected that I was running out of space on my SSD. VramR said I needed at least 129 GB, but it turned out that the initial process resulted in 185 GB. Once I allocated more space, the errors stopped! :)
Cheers, yeah, doing an accurate storage calculation is really challenging.....BSA, loose files, overlays, resolution changes, exclusions.....so thanks for persevering with it!
Logfiles will be in the folder created by VRAMr when you selected your drives.
It sounds like you have a corrupted output. This happens when you use your PC for heavier tasks while running VRAMr. This includes youtube or even discord thanks to their hardware acceleration.
Hello, I have the problem that when I select the folders it says couldnt detect archives and loadorder.txt but it is inside the folder I tryied it hundreds of times dont know what is wrong maybe a user issue?
Did you use your PC, browse, watch YouTube, play a game whilst VRAMr was running? If so you likely overworked your PC and corrupted your output. You'll need to identify which file(s) and delete them from your Output to stop the CTD's....or re-run VRAMr
i didnt use my pc for anything while vramr did its thing. i actually wasnt even at home while i left it running. had nothing but mo2 running aside from vramr.
Okay, your logs are suggesting some potential files causing your issue. View Errors.log in notepad, jot down the names of any .dds files in there and then delete them from your Output.

I hope you enjoy your VRAM savings.
Huge thanks to Grifflet and their Discord buddies for this solution!
