I started to freeze more often then again I had 5k items roughly at the time, usually when I freeze with a ton of items it meant the game stops functioning and I have to restart the pc because I can't exit out, I seem to benefit from this in that, I freeze more often but it does start to play again after 2-3 minutes, that's just my experience.
You can mostly navigate in task manager using "tab" key as well. ctrl+alt+del , navigate with arrow keys and "tab" and "shift+tab" , use space key to select. Open task manager from the ctrl+alt +del menu and press tab once. Once the name section is lit, use arrow keys to go down till skyrim. Press space once. When it is selected, press tab until "End Task" is selected. Hit space key and it will kill task.
I'll also add another so that more methods of shutting down frozen skyrim are here in one place.
You can create a second desktop by pressing "Windows key+Tab" and clicking on "+ New Desktop" button (look for it at bottom right or bottom middle). Open task manager in that second desktop and terminate skyrim. After everything done, if you want to close the second desktop, use Window key + Tab again and close it like an app.
For windows users there's a nice trick you can use when task manager can't stop processes or you can't access task manager at all, instead of installing third party software: 1. Create a shortcut on your desktop (right mouse button -> new -> shortcut) 2. The path to put is C:\Windows\System32\taskkill.exe /f /t /fi "status eq not responding" (if you have your system on a different drive put the right letter instead of "C") 3. For better results execute as admin 4. Put this where you want, I put mine in my taskbar next to the search bar, because usually it's the only thing accessible during freezes 5. Enjoy
Of course this is to use after you tried to close the app/program the normal way and failed to do so, because before that its process may not be stuck in a "not responding" status yet. N.B. This will kill ALL processes with a "not responding" status
It's not just number of items that slows down the inventory menus and makes game more unstable (and possibly lead to game freezes or crashes), it is also the number of separate stacks of different items and whatnot. Also, having Speech perks slows down my inventory menus a lot, maybe that's partly because of a perk/skill tree mod I use or something I am unsure...
This mod is fuckinnnnggg greattttt. I never thought this f*#@ing issue with the teleporting to the jail would be solved. Thank you sooo much man you're awesome.
Wait, so the only things that removes all item is diplomatic immunity, mind of madness and jail?
To be extra safe, you could avoid them and prevent them from happening with the help of a few mods. For the diplomatic immunity, you can use this mod Prevent Emptying Inventory For Diplomatic Immunity (MQ201). For the Mind of Maddness. Just ignore the crazy guy and use the mod The Choice is Yours to prevent rumors auto starting the quest. For the Jail, particularly the No One Escape Cidhna mine. Use Go Away Eltrys (I think it works with the choice is yours). Then I guess just avoid submitting to jail and fight or run away.
How is "avoid / patch several major quests and avoid jail entirely" a better suggestion than just fixing the issue? This is like telling someone to never drive again because they got a flat.
Hey, I have this installed, but it's still freezing whenever I get arrested or type the "removeallitems" console command
So I followed what the description said, and it looks like it was the one single lockpick in my inventory causing it. But the base lockpicks are fine, it's only if you use this mod alongside that it does it: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/27224?tab=posts
I dont get ctd or freezes but i do get really low frame rates like 5-10 fps, my cracter moving really wierd, wrong physics, i downloading this in an attent to keep playing :(, wish me luck
I play in VR and I experienced that bug when the NPCs body and mine as well is glitching and deformated and have 1-5 fps and lagging as hell. I don't exactly remmeber how but my skyrim doed not need to run trough steam vr. If I run the game trough steam VR then I have this issue, if not it's totaly playable. Look after that how to play without steam and try that other starting methood of the game.
I specifically only crash when arrested with ANY lockpick(s) in my inventory as I assume they take all my stuff and for some reason the lockpick item makes me CTD. This mod didn't fix this issue for me but hey glad it works for some.
