I added an optional file which would show the bible loadscreens twice as often. You only need to use one file or the other (or you could use both if you want the loadscreens to show 3x often) ~dan
As a fellow Christian fighting internally and externally to increase his faith and devotion to God Almighty, I honestly wasn't expecting to see such a mod on the Nexus. A welcome surprise!
damn, I have "uneasy relation" with god.. but culture is culture! great IDEA!
I think you really need to put Ned Flanders picture as background of this mod really
p.s. great idea yes, but english is too archaic and honestly after many loading, I still didn't read a memorable sentence... deleted. Waiting for a philosophers version
Dude! I'd be keen to see like an NKJV or NLT version, older English is a bit difficult to get from time to time. But yeah, good efforts anyway! Ty for taking the time to make this.
What I did is typed out all the verses that I wanted to use on a notepad app, then when I created the load screens I copy and pasted the verses on to the load screens. (If you are looking for information on how to use xedit in the first place, my recommendation is to look for YouTube videos by fading signal, that is how I first dipped my toes in the water of utilizing x at it to make modifications to the game)
Generally speaking, evangelicals believe you can separate form from content. You can take meaning—what I mean by content—and place it in just about any container without losing something.John 3:16 works just as well scribbled on a beach-ball surrounded by lotioned bodies, as it does when it is printed in a book surrounded by the rest of John’s gospel. Beach-balls have nothing to say as beach-balls, they’re neutral and meaningless, like the rest of the world. So, beach-ball or book, what does it matter?
This is a very modern way of seeing things, by the way. Which shows, contrary to popular opinion, evangelicals are as modern as everybody else.
Ironically I probably don't fall neatly in the category you describe. I would contend in some cases single verses can be easily misinterpreted when taken in a vacuum. However at the same time I would also contend that Skyrim with single verses sprinkled in to loading screens is still better than Skyrim with no scripture. Ultimately it is my hope that those unfamiliar with the bible will be piqued in interest and inspired to pick up the book and study further on their own. And those already familiar with the bible can enjoy the loadscreens from a different perspective (and also inspired/reminded to study further as well. None of us ever complete our journey of wisdom this side of death, there's always wisdom to be had for those who seek it.) ~dan
I've already told you how much I love this mod, but just gotta tell you again. I was playing last night when Ruth 1:16 popped up. My husband and I used that verse in our wedding vows 39 years ago. Every time I load the game, I love this mod more and more. Romans 8:28 is another that popped up and that verse has seen me through all the most difficult times in my life. They are little glimpses of God, but sometimes that's all you need. LOVE THIS!!!
Thank you for this! I have a handful of mods I've been making for myself, and I was making something similar to this! I have a few WIP mods of hundreds of load screens of Skyrim screenshots and fanart with quotes from the Bible. I'm happy to see that someone else has done the same! This is joining my load order with my own scripture filled loading screens. It's striking how well the themes of the Bible can be seen within the TES universe!
What a wonderful comment to read. Thank you so much, and I agree, tes universe has many parallels to biblical themes. Thank you for including my work into your build, and if you end up coming out with additional Bible load screens, let me know because I will download yours as well! God bless you my friend! ~dan
I will definitely let you know when I release mine! Unfortunately, the original mods I tweaked and gave Biblical scriptures to have closed permissions. So, I am making a new original plugin. I'll style mine similarly to yours, so they should blend well. I've had a blast reading the scriptures you've chosen. You've picked some of my favorites, so it's been a great surprise to see them pop up on the loading screens!
Awesome, and i know what you mean, on my personal game i have bible loadscreens plastered all over loadscreens from mods and stuff. Same with everything on my game, I use assets from all over the place and tie everything together for my own use... Then when i decide to share a piece of my game on Nexus it can turn into a giant untangling process first... Sigh, human rules sometimes seem silly, like it'd be nice if everything on Nexus could just be a giant buffet of assets for everyone to freely build stuff from, like endless lego pieces, and then freely share what we've assembled from the ever improving pieces... But, i also understand how it would be unfair to certain creators. Anyways, thank you again and keep me up to date, and let me know if you need anything! ~dan
EDIT - PS - Don't worry about trying not to use the same verses I did... There's nothing wrong with some overlap!
