It would be very nice if that mod can be updated. I saw in comments below you can put your holy symbol on your shield but you still need a free hand to cast a spell so it doesn't help at all :/
Hello. I've used nearly all your mods about 2 years ago. Trying to find them none can be downloaded now, you direct me to a "Community Expansion" which has a 'new version' that is also redirecting elsewhere and that elsewhere doesn't exist. I browsed in the mods for the word 'Community' and nothing shows up. Does this mean the mod collection you allowed to use your works is now obsolete?
Can you please just upload your mods on your own again, without the need to download a bunch of files I'm not interested in (from other modders)?
edit: I'm looking specifically for the extra feat on 1st level mod, no matter what race the character is.
It was working up until the Mod API was merged into the Community Expansion.
Since TA added the ability to mark a holy symbol on a shield I felt like this was less necessary as a feature (which is why this didn't get merged into the Community Expansion). If this provides a critical benefit in addition to that functionality I can look into updating or merging into the Community Expansion.
So it's not actually documented anywhere, but you can right-click on an equipped shield for your paladin or cleric and choose to add your holy symbol to it. No idea when that was actually added to the game. (Though this mod still saves you having to take that extra step every time you find a new shield.)
Hi, just wanted to point out one can disable the requirement of somatic components for spells in Settings>Game>Spell Components. And I'm all but positive that this does apply to characters already being played.
I do see this mod being great for those who only want this to apply to cleric and paladins and not other casters.
Glad you made this, always felt this rule was needlessly draconian, never enforced it during Pen & Paper play and it didn't affect game play at all. In fact it helped by avoiding needless minutia.
So the way the game handles spell components, that wouldn't actually work. This mod actually effects how the game checks for somatic component availability not material component availability whereas having a focus available is specifically about the material component availability.
This is intended to represent the idea (maybe a house rule?) that a holy symbol can be painted on a shield and therefore allow for casting using your shield as an arcane focus. I know strict RAW that would mean they can only cast spells this way that have both a material and somatic component and not spells that only have a somatic component, but since my understanding of the game code is it only checks what items the character is holding to determine if they can perform somatic components (and not for example if the spell also has a material component AND one of the items in the hands is a focus), this is an approximation of that. Also I believe this is closer to how many tables run Paladins (and Clerics) in order to allow them to be in combat and cast spells and not need to spend half their actions sheathing and drawing weapons.
It's true. I'm guilty once upon a time of having had a blacksmith emboss a holy symbol on my shield when my DM told me you need your hands free to be clerical.

To bad it would probably be a coding mess since I don't think there is a single weapon in game that is an arcane/divine focus.
RAW, a quarterstaff is an arcane focus.
is a mod like this new game only?
Anyway it will be perfect for the cleric I planned for my next playthrough.
