I've just uploaded my personal version with some tweaks known as qmqz's engine no eye-adaptation: - VERY EXPERIMENTAL - No eye-adaptation - Extremely dark nights - Virtual shadows re-enabled (there's a good fps hit here) - New performance fixes - Better reflections
If your nights are too bright, change r.TonemapperGamma to 0.
This version has a lot of room for improvement. I don't expect anyone to play the game seriously with it. It's more for screenshots than anything else.
DO NOT MIX THIS MOD WITH ANY OTHER OPTIMIZATION/TWEAK MOD.
OMG, Potato feels so good. I wish this were the default in the game. 100FPS on RTX 3070TI. I tried everything, and Potato is so responsive for my GPU. Thank you for the mod.
Hello, mate, just a big thanks for your mod, my game is much smoother now, even though I own a pretty good gpu 4080, game was not smooth 4k max setting.
Now the game is fluid no stutter, the only fps drops occurring when I am running, very ugly fps drops but I guess that is the way it is. anyway I am enjoying the game like I never did before, you are kinda magician ;)
Great mod I play on Mid Version and on gtx 1050ti the game maintains 60fps most of the timeof course the game looks worse graphically but on such a card it's about fluidity not beautiful graphics
I made a mix between the "PEAK" version and your "No Eyes Adaptation" version. It's just perfect. After about thirty tests on different mods and engine.ini files, it's by far the best result, with a real performance gain. Thank you very much!
Oh yes, and also, I recommend adding these two lines from the "Crystal Clear Reflection" mod to remove noise in reflections without any performance loss: r.Lumen.Reflections.Temporal=0 r.Lumen.Reflections.DownsampleFactor=0
Hello there! 1050ti here, gettin smooth 55-75 on potato/base configs. Realy appreciate your work! About configs, is there a way to toogle rain by some commands in the .ini? All ive got are sound fx, wet surfaces and raindrops on the screen, unlike normal rain in your personal .ini Mb some tweaks exist to make rain go rainier, even if it costs few frames? Thanks, mm
The rain particles are removed due to: r.Lumen.DiffuseIndirect.Allow=0 You could re-enable it, but the FPS drop is noticeable as it affects Lumen lighting as well.
You could try re-enabling it and playing with this value in addition, to limit the impact from Lumen: r.Lumen.ScreenProbeGather.DownsampleFactor=20 The lower, the higher the FPS. 50 is default IIRC. 20 is what's in my personal version.
You'll have to adjust these values to what you want. r.TonemapperGamma=2.8 r.LumenScene.Radiosity.DistanceFieldSurfaceBias=800 r.SkylightIntensityMultiplier=2.5 r.Color.Mid=0.6 r.Color.Max=1.5
I'm using the Base version of the mod and just want to make the nights feel darker, much darker. What parameters should I add/change ? Everything else to stay the same.
Unfortunately it's not something you can do with just the engine.ini tweaks. The only reason it's do-able on the no eye-adaptation version is because eye-adaptation is what makes the nights brighter, but it also causes a lot of bugs. I've been considering just making a new mod specifically for darker nights.
