I use the DualSenseX app, select the Xbox layout in the trigger settings, choose only the right trigger, select "Vibrate Trigger Custom Intensity" at the bottom of the list, and set the value to 8. The result is just as good as on the PS5. It's important to disable Steam Input for the gamepad.

I'm using dualsense and it doesn't work even with DS4Windows and DSX. The game sees the gamepad but does not respond to input. This is the first time I've encountered this
It annoyed me too, but I start DSX, it has to stay running, where I have dualshock emulation turned on, not xbox gamepad, and I start the game from the desktop and it works.
You can buy the DSX program on Steam, it's not expensive and it helped me with Dualsense in many games. In this game, Dualsense didn't work for me through Steam itself.
I tried elite 2 in the system, it is displayed as x360, then dsx or ds4win is emulated as x360 and nothing works( I understand that a minority of players are fine with a gamepad i think its about config folder in app data, its around 15 files with 1kb size and its all empty
