Disclaimer By installing this mod, you’re choosing to experience The Zone in an entirely new light. This overhaul deviates from the original design, and while it elevates immersion, it may also alter intended gameplay. Proceed knowing you’re embracing a reimagined atmosphere curated with passion by the community.
The base weathers in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 utilize the beautiful UE5 weather and sky system, but it’s clear that the system was overtuned and that development time only allowed for the completion of the core weathers (Clear, Rain, Stormy, and Cloudy). I dedicated countless hours learning and refining these effects to bring additional weather types (Foggy, Light Rainy, Rainstorm) up to par, while also enhancing the base weathers to achieve a more realistic and immersive feel.
This effort results in a striking contrast between the improved weather and the emissions, which now dramatically shake up the world. Lighting, especially during night-time, was previously tuned too high—making ground and water appear glaring. Instead of simply adjusting user brightness settings, I reworked the lighting to produce darker, more imposing nights. While still fully playable, these changes are designed to nudge players towards weighing the risk of venturing out after dark versus waiting for daylight.
Heads Up
Brightness and overall light levels have been altered—adjust your settings accordingly to achieve the best visual experience.
Functional Changes:
Weather System Rework: Expanded range of weather events, each with unique durations and transitions.
Regional Weather Diversity: Distinct weather patterns for different regions.
Unpredictable Atmospherics: Heightened intense weather activity in unstable areas to increase environmental immersion.
Restored Weather Events: Restoration of Light Rainy, Foggy and Thundery, featuring refined skyboxes and cloud formations. From 4 base weathers to 7.
(Optional) Reworked Emissions: Vanilla Friendly Emissions now feature dramatic and realistic colouring, tone and intensity, beautiful clouds and smoother pronounced transitions.
(Optional - Recommended) Reimagined Base Weathers: Clear, Cloudy, Rain and Storm get an overhaul.
Compatibility: This mod conflicts with any mods that alter the following .cfg files located in your Paks directory: Stalker2\Content\GameLite\GameData WeatherChainPrototypes.cfg WeatherSelectionPrototypes.cfg
Stalker2\Content\light\Curves
The mod is built around longer days, so it is recommended using Longer Days to extend your day cycle, at least by 50%. I recommend using Yert's Ini Mod or Ultra Plus for enhanced weather and lighting effects. These have fixes for lighting which acompany this mod.
