I don't mind the mods for the OT/Anomaly where getting irradiated causes regular foods you're carrying to also get irradiated, but for the sake of balance, you need cleaner more expensive food like MRE packs/rations and radiation proof water canteens etc. that are more expensive/higher quality, but aren't vulnerable to getting irradiated the way that normal food is. So I think until GSC or modders add those extra items, this mod would be more distracting than anything else, since Skif would just be stuck eating irradiated food until the end of the game.
I am aware, that is why canned food isnt radiated in the main version. Only bread and sausages are irradiated, because it is "immersive" for food lying around to absorb rad from the environment.
Pardon my knowledge then, but how would you explain the real life clothing of the fireworkers at chernobyl got irradiated to the point even some of the nurses have died to radiation poisoning? And a valid argument would be dust and/or microparticles. But would that not include food lying around in the zone for months?
Were talking about a game where you can get dozen of rads and you can purge them all just drinking vodka, without permanent damage in your organism. I cant understand why people think this game is "realistic" in some way xD
Its a mod, you can install it or not. And by saying -making things unrealistic and unimmersive for the sake of "immersion"- you are implying that the game itself is realistic. If not, your comment does not make any sense since in the game there are tons of radiation spots where the player "absorbs" that radiation and needs to be purged with alcohol/pills/artifacts, ergo food absorbs that radiation too. That being said and in accordance with the "reality" in the game, this mod is perfectly "realistic" and immersive. Also, like i first said, its completely optional for you to install it or not, and i dont see why the mod author shoul receive a comment such as yours.
Well... arguably, carrying your food in the same bag as a bunch of artifacts radiating lethal levels of radiation... might be a valid reason, to balance out the fact that alcoholism is a very east-european way of ridding yourself of radiation sickness.
You do know that Stalker happens in our "normal" world and not in a post apocalyptic world, right? It's just an exclusion zone in Ukraine. The rest of the world is going on normally like in our reality. Yeah I get it's all fantasy, but just wanted to make it clear for newcomers to the series because I see many mod makers and players treating this like Fallout 4.
You do realize stalker takes place near the CNPP, and is an area well known for being covered in radiation, where there are artifacts people carry around that radiate them... So is it not unrealistic to assume that as people pick up rads, by dust sticking to them, artifacts, etc, it will also do the same to food, meaning when you eat it you would get a slight dose of rads...
I like this idea, but the radiation damage is too high every time you have to eat something. Can you downgrade it just a bit? Just like Fallout 4 standards. Only take a tiny bit of radiation damage, not a ton.
People keep making the mistake of thinking STALKER is a post apocalypse game, not realizing that the ruins in the game are because the the Zone was abandoned due to the initial Chernobyl disaster. In fact in super old supplemental lore it's hinted that the world outside is doing better than our world thanks to Artifacts allowing technological improvements to lots of things other than things related to the military.
Just so you know, but most of the food comes from outside of the Zone. Outside of the Zone is really normal, basically everyday life. In fact super old supplemental lore hints that the world outside is doing better than our world thanks to Artifacts allowing technological improvements to lots of things other than things related to the military.
I posted on the sleepy meds XD so i cut and paste here the request Is it possible to give food 1-2-3 points of rad accordingly to food restoration? (Bread, sausage and -if used- food can) Thanks!
+1 on this. I tried to modify the file myself to give a lower rad value but no luck. im using other mods that rebalance effects and getting rid of the radiation kept me in a loop; Get hungry > eat > get radiated > drink beer > get hungry > eat > get radiated > etc

It does not work like that.
Even thats physically impossible. Exposing something to gamma radiation does not make it radioactive.

But you are also free to use the main version where canned food has no radiation at all.
