West Coast North American birds have arrived! A lovely bird enthusiast who wishes to remain anonymous has generously added 56 new birds from North America's West Coast (with a focus on California)!
Hello. Firstly, let me say, I love this mod. I am generally interested in wildlife itself and birds are no exception. Especially owls. I love owls! That said, my ONLY gripe with this mod is the bird sounds. Too loud, and too consistent. I don't want to lower the volume of anything else in my game. I have the levels set where I like and only the birds are overbearing with sound. Even changing zones keeps the sounds going. Is there any way to lower the sounds or something? A few people have asked and I have not seen an answer as of yet. I'd appreciate it. I'd hate to have to remove the mod over this, but it can be a bit.....perturbing at times. Great work regardless, and thank you.
This is why I came back here. The sounds are obnoxiously loud, and some of the birds make annoy sounds to begin with. I could tolerate all the sounds, if they weren't so loud. On top of that, even if you go to the next zone, you still hear the bird sound. Love this mod but the sounds can be a bit too much.
This is such a self centered comment. The mod just states that going vegan is the single most impactful thing you could do to help birds. No one is harassing you, but many many animals are suffering and dying each day bc people don't care to change their habits. Maybe reflect on the cognitive dissonance that you might feel. Bc why would you pretend to care for birds but can't stand being suggested a simple solution to actually help them?!

Well, it states a lie then, as vegan diet has nothing to do with enviroment and it's questionable even before we got to the implied racism and ableist it spreads.
Being on vegan diet would literaly kill me. I cannot stay alive on vegan diet, so the mod is telling me best thing I can do 'for the birdies' is fo die.
Yes Veganism is based in wanting to stop animal exploitation. But living a vegan lifestyle has definite positive impacts on the environment. Veganism is not inherently racist or ableist. In the US black people are actually more likely to be vegan. I am not oblivious to the fact that there are white vegans who spread ableism and/ or racism, but I don't think that comes inherently from living a vegan life. That's just unchecked white privilege. On a more personal note: I am disabled myself and changing to a vegan diet was a process. But for me it is ultimatly just relearning old habits for the sake of saving/ bettering animals lives. And I believe you, when you say that due to your disablities you can't be a vegan. That is valid. But I don't understand how you then blame veganism and feel entitled for a mod to take some facts of of their page on how to help birds, just bc you personally can't follow them. Thats why your comment comes of as self centered to me. It is ok if you aren't a vegan, but you can't deny the facts that it would help birds. Plus the mod also states different things you could do except go vegan, therefore the pseudo-argument of "the mod tells me to die" is just bs.
Celilou, I don't agree with you. Wild animals, including birds are not dying out because people eat meat. They are dying out because there are people
who like to kill animals just for fun
who believe that some animals' bones or intestines are healing literally everything
who make money from killing these animals and selling their fur/bones/intestines/etc. to other people
who are selling living wild animals just because some crazy people want them as pets
who are destroying their habitats, because the human population is growing very fast, so more people = more mouth to feed
Conclusion: People shouldn't kill wild animals or keeping them as pets.
If everyone would go vegan, all the ~8,3 billion people, the problems wouldn't been solved at all. Why? Because we would need the fields to feed us instead of feeding the livestock. Because we still need to plant the plants to eat. And the livestock would die out, because we longer need them. And there would be still people who kills the wild animals just because they can do it. People not only kill animals to eat them.
'Yes Veganism is based in wanting to stop animal exploitation. But living a vegan lifestyle has definite positive impacts on the environment.' Smolvoidcatto, are you not reading the other comments? No one is claiming that veganism is solving all of our problems.
Also Veganism is more than not eating meat. I think you might be talking about Vegeterianism? Globally, over 80 billion land animals are slaughtered annually for meat production. This figure doesn't account for additional deaths in industries like dairy, eggs, leather, feathers, and wool. How do you think we are feeding these animals? The production of animal feed is taking up huge areas of land. Way more than people would need on a plantbased diet for example. This murderous industry is polluting our environment and destroying habitats for wild animals. Because of animal sanctuaries these species who were merely bred to be exploited and killed in the first place wouldn't die out. I don't think keeping such unimaginable amounts of animals alive to exploit them is a good and moral thing to do.
We can also divert this conversation and talk about the harms of capitalism if you think this problem is rooted in systemic issues and you not doing anything is somehow helping with that. But again, the mod only provided a 'quick list of 7 Simple Actions you can take to help birds.' and suggested to go vegan.
I will put this bluntly, all of you need to just end it already. The original comment is clearly self centered. People seem to struggle with the concept of "if you don't like it, leave it alone". For some reason felt the need to whine about a MOD. Which is exactly why everyone needs to knock it off. This isn't the place for these kind of "discussions". Many other fitting places online to do it. Or even DMs. This is a cool and interesting mod for one of the best and most relaxing games ever made. Not the place for this.
I don't know if this was a bug, but I used another beautification mod, DynamicReflections, which reflects characters and NPCS in water. I didn't expect the birds to have reflections, but their reflections and the distance between them was just too big.
Edit: Interestingly, I decided to disable the Beautification mod that compliments this mod as a test and suddenly the mod loads just fine. I suspect we are supposed to manually overwrite the original files of this mod with the Beautification ones because having both installed/enabled on Vortex is producing the problem listed below. I'll report back if that doesn't work. But it appears to be a problem with Beautification instead of this one. I'll leave my comment up in case anyone else comes across this problem using both mods.
As of today, this mod is not working for me. I have the most recent version of SMAPI, paired with the most recent version of Stardew Valley, combined with the most recent version of this mod. I have installed it via Vortex, given all proper permissions to the program to install said mod, and have even deleted and reinstalled the mod multiple times. Checking the folder manually, all files are present and accounted for. I am getting the following error on SMAPI:
[SMAPI] Skipped mods [SMAPI] -------------------------------------------------- [SMAPI] These mods could not be added to your game. [SMAPI] - [CP] Ornithologists Guild\assets\map because it's an empty Vortex folder (is the mod disabled in Vortex?).
