hi i used portraiture and it only works for a little while. it works when i talk to them (i have to press P everytime) but afterwards, i have to do it all over again because it goes back to vanilla. :(
You need to create a new folder in the portraiture portraits folder (you can just call the new folder portrait), you then need to copy and paste the images into the new folder you created. Once you are in the game press p when you're having dialogue with one of the villagers, it should show a little header with which portrait folder portraiture is using the portrait from (eg: if you called the folder portrait using the images from this mod it should display this mod's portraits with a little header saying portrait)
For people having problems getting the portraits to work for this mod and the vanilla version from the same mod creator, you need to create a new folder in the portraiture portraits folder (as stated by another user you can just call the new folder portrait), you then need to copy and paste the images into the new folder you created. Once you are in the game press p when you're having dialogue with one of the villagers and it should work for you, I didn't have any problems with any of the villagers having enlarged portraits in game.
Generally the only problem you'll have is that some of the villagers (torts, kiwi, krobus (from the vanilla sv version) will display their original game portraits since this mod does not include all the villager portraits, you'll have the same problem with the rsv characters beach and winter portraits since those aren't included yet (hopefully soon if the mod creator updates to include these).
I had the same problem, that's how i fixed it: Go to the Portraiture folder, creat a new folder inside "Portrait" and place the images inside it. Run your game and should work fine, to see the new portrait just press P while talking to the NPC.
