Hi everyone! I wanted to make a comment to clear up how to use my new dog and cat mods. Unlike my old pet mods, these do not replace the default pet textures. Mild spoilers on how to change your existing pets, as it involves new features to 1.6:

Unfortunately, it seems that CA removed the mechanic of changing your pet's appearance at the Wizard's Shrine of Illusion. If you don't start a new save with the pet breed you want, now it looks like you have to adopt a new one with the appearance you want from Marnie. Once you've maxed hearts with your existing pet, you can adopt additional pets if you buy the new pet bowl structures from Robin (for 50 hardwood each), or you can buy the Butterfly Powder item from Krobus (for 20,000g) to remove your pet and adopt a new one. Adopting a pet is 40,000g. If someone finds a new way to change existing pets' appearances, let me know!
You can also of course use the command "debug cmenu" (without quotes) in the SMAPI console to bring up the character creation menu. This will at least allow you to change your existing pet immediately.
I am getting lots of comments on all my mods since the 1.6 update, so from now on the way I respond to them is changing. If you report bugs in the bug section or ask for help in the comments without providing your SMAPI log, your report/comment is likely to be ignored or deleted. Your logs contain important info that modders need to be able to help you, and it only takes extra time from both of our lives if I have to ask for it. I also highly recommend making sure you read the instructions in the description thoroughly before asking for help. Thanks!
I really appreciate all your animal mods; they're a mandatory part of my mod loadout. I was really excited to see smooth collie as an option, since I've loved collies ever since I was a kid. If you ever find the time and energy to add more colors for your existing sprites, I'd be super excited to see merle, sable, and/or tricolor for the collie!
Thank you so much for all your hard work!!! You make my game experience much more charming.
Hi! It's only me, or are several dogs that does not appear as an option? I'm trying to use the great dane but I can't find it, even in the assets folder. Can anyone help me? Thanks!
Hi, I'm wondering if it possible to get a collab with your cuter dogs and cats mods to work with Pets Enhanced by SunkenLace? I am not familiar with coding and mods, I just figured out what mods were actually, but if this possible I feel like a lot of the Stardew Valley community would enjoy and use it. Let me know if this possible and something you might implement.
I am also wondering if anyone else would like this collab to happen, leave a reply if so, I'm just curious. Thanks for your time.
I second this request! The pet enhanced mod looks really awesome, but it's not compatible with Elle's retextures so I haven't downloaded it. It would be really cool if Elle made a compatibility patch! (But it would also be completely fine and understandable if she doesn't wish to make one ofc! ^^)
That's somewhat a time consuming order. Elle's Cuter dogs already has 342 dog variations. Each having the standard 9 rows of sprites per sheet. Pets Enhanced sprite sheets contain 7 additional rows plus 2 in the standard section, so 16 rows total. I know this because I have been working on own standard sprite dog mod (soon to be done) when it dawned on me to check the sheets for Pets Enhanced. So after that discovery it didn't take long to make the additional rows to make a compatibility version my dog mod. Adding them took only like 25 minutes max per dog with paint.net, but that time would add up quick with 342 dog variations.
Unfortunately though, Pet's Enhanced has been broken since the 1.6.9 update, and the author is on a hiatus. So it could be a while before it's updated. I had just found the mod a week or two before the update too. So being the troubleshooter that I am, and wanting to keep playing with the mod; I gave it a shot at reverse engineering it to make one of those unofficial updates. Albeit I don't know much of a lick about coding, however, I can read and understand it enough to modify it. Sadly though, I wasn't able to get it to work with 1.6.9. I have a feeling it's due to the dll file, but I could be wrong.
So, I reverted my game back to 1.6.6 just so I can play with Pet Enhanced versions of my dogs. (The mod I'm working on are Stardewed versions of my IRL dogs). I didn't make the compatibility version until I failed the reverse engineering.
But yeah, I'm also all for the coolness that Elle's Cuter Dogs and Pets Enhanced would bring.
Hi! Love your work junimods!! I made an alternative version of the pug.png file that changes the color to more of fawn pug color and tries to give more of an impression of their face folds? I wasn't sure if you would be interested in this version, but I figured I'd share since it was a recolor to match my sister's pugs. Thank you so much again for all your beautiful mods!
These are so cute, but I'm super sad to see the Eskies from your previous mod aren't included this one. That's literally the exact one I wanted like, half a dozen of. Any chance they'll make a comeback?
Probably not, as the sprites would have been very similar to the Samoyed. Adding more sprites to this mod is a very low priority on my to-do list, in any case. You can always continue using the old mod if it has sprites you prefer.
Is it possible to use this mod and AlternativeTextures to reskin dogs with skins I made, or others I downloaded, along-side the ones that come with this mod? I thought you could just add in a new dog skin, add the image name to the config.json, and you should be able to find it with AT's scissors, right? But even if I only have a few dogs from this mod in, I can't find any additions I want to put in. Seems like only the dogs from this mod work. Is that normal, or am I doing something wrong? (Unknown if I need a SMAPI log for this kind of question?)
Yes, it is possible. You have a few options to do so. The easiest would be to rename and replace one of the sprite sheets in Elle's assets folder with your own sheet. E.G. naming your sheet "Void Boston Terrier" and replacing the original.
Another method would be to place your originally named sprite sheets into Elle's assets folder, then inject entries for it in "adoptions_config" and "content" json files. It is of note you have to perfectly mimic the structure of Elle's code.
Last method would be similar to the second, but simplifying the code by deleting most of it (the individual dog entries) and substitute your own dogs for your own mod. E.G. the line ""Texture": "Mods\\Elle.CuterDogs\\AustralianBlack"," would be changed to ""Texture": "Mods\\My.Dogs\\TheGoodestBoy"," "TheGoodestBoy" being the name of the sprite sheet. Doing this method, you can have both yours and Elle's mods running at the same time.
Yes, this mod can be used alongside any other skins for dogs. But those skins would need their own AT packs, or content packs for CP coded with the 1.6 skins feature like mine are. My mod is not a framework to add more skins through it, if that's what you're asking. You can do as SirVulpin says but I won't provide support on editing my content.json or how to make AT packs.
Ah okay, I wasn't sure if your mod was framework for that or not. (I'm new to all these terms!) I think I figured out how to set up a content pack with my old skins I had, and use AT...and I'm using your mods along-side it since I absolutely love the animals you made and wanted to include them in my game as well! My only problem now will be choosing between them all...
Can it still be used after the latest update? After the update, my dog became a basic skin. I tried deleting the mod and reinstalling it, but found that the folder couldn't generate the config. json file. Is it because it's incompatible with the new version? I hope the author can release a version that is compatible with the latest version! (Because it's really cute and brings me a lot of happiness) Love from China: 3

Thank you both for the info! ^^
