Still having trouble. I can't seem to get the adaptive tint or other files to be added. Are we supposed to be pulling those from the caramel reshade mod? I'm trying to piece together in the comments. Would really love to use this but very very confused.
1. When you're in the ReShade installer, make sure you're referring to the mod-provided preset ini. 2. Check the box for Daodan's shaders but don't check any of the effects, this will make Reshade retrieve and download Daodan's reshade asset folder. 3. Open the game, press HOME button to get to Reshade's overlay menu. 4. Follow the Reshade overlay's tutorial. 5. It should eventually show you the settings list. AdaptiveTint should be in there, check the box.
Thank you for posting this tutorial, however I'm still struggling to get it to look the way the images on this page looks. I have AdaptiveTint but can't find any of the other settings they listed in the description.
Do everything like the comment said, BUT at step 2., add prod80's shaders too. Don't add any of the effects, just check the box at the top, just like with Daodan's shaders.
Now the effects should show up in the list. If they don't, at the top of the effects list, press "force loading all effects". This added everything for me except the "sharpening" thing, but it still looks fine.
Thanks! So I got everything installed, but for some reason, instead of the pretty blue reshade, it just kinda made everything like a darker shade. This is my first time ever doing something like this, am I supposed to be doing anything else, like do I need to mess with the sliders at all?? Sorry, just a bit confused.
Download reshade setup tool from https://reshade.me/ and run the installer.
Browse and select Stardew Valley (for vanilla game) or StardewModdingAPI (for modded game) in your game installation folder. For example, the correct folder for Steam user is something like: C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley
Choose OpenGL.
[Important ! ] Browse and select the Preset file Caramel Reshade.ini that you have extracted earlier. Proceed until you finish the installation.
[Important ! ] Copy the "reshade-shaders" folder that you have extracted earlier, and paste on the one that you have installed in your game installation folder earlier. You have to overwrite the files when asked.
If you don't like the wash-out effect of Reshade on the portrait of dialogue UI, download the Dialogue UI Mask files, and do the following:
Thank you for this. Between this comment and the one above replying to another person, I was able to get it working. It's frankly appalling that other users had to step up because the mod author didn't feel like doing the bare minimum, but I'm grateful that you two were able to help us!
Having looked through, googling, and playing around with it, it's the AdaptiveTint from here: https://github.com/Daodan317081/reshade-shaders/blob/master/Shaders/dev/AdaptiveTint.fx
You have to download that file, the stats.fxh , tools.fxh , and canvas.fxh files from that github folder, then also the alpha-checkerboard.png file from the textures folder. Not sure if any others need downloaded, but those are the ones that have popped up errors for not being there for me.
you may not be a "help desk" but the very LEAST you could do, if uploading for public use, is provide us with somewhat detailed instructions on how to install this. that is, after all, what the description box is usually used for on this site. the fact that helpful members of the community had to step up for this is kinda wild.
that said, this is really beautiful, and i do thank you for the work.
You are right. I did add "I am not a help desk" because as you can see with almost 20 comments, it apparently needed a lot of help. I merely wanted to share something that I found to quick and easy thing to add to the game, but I also added that because I do not have time to check here often, and lastly because I am NOT really going to be that helpful. Some of the people here have been more helpful than I could have been.
However I will be adding a step by step image guide since it's so hard to add this.

I have added Step by step instructions with images for every step, as well as links to the proper shaders and where to put them if there is issues.
