Hey so the name of the file changed from Balanced Quarry to Better Quarries. So just delete Balanced Quarry folder and keep the Better Quarries folder and you are set.

Vortex is calling this mod Four Corners, is there a mistake with the manifest?

There are 3 mods to download in the zip file. For most people, use all 3. One is Four Corners, one is Hilltop, and one is Mountain (I.E., the one unlocked by bundle).

If I wanted to use a custom farm, it seems like I would need to edit the "IncludeCoordinates": [ "5,37/26,44"  ], part to match the new map right? It's x-5 to x-37/y-26 to y-44 right? Probably also need to edit the FarmTypes entry as well to match the farm the custom one is replacing.

Or is the map type/spawn points more complex then that?

Sorry, your question made my brain explode, but if you are making a custom farm, suggest to just open the file and take a look. It just edits Farm Type Manager values. You may understand it well.

It appears as though the quarry in that map is the same as the base one, but I cannot tell at a glance if it is a few pixels off. All this mod does is spawn ores at certain X,Y coordinates of a map. If you try it you should know within a few days if any rocks spawn outside the light brown area.

I was a little hasty in deleting my version after reading that SV1.6 buffed the mine - this is still very much needed it seems. There was one change I made that I forgot to upload and that was changing Cinder Shards to require level 10 mining instead of level 9. Reason being, there's a near 0 chance you unlock Ginger Island before level 10 mining.

For coal nodes, when they are supported by FTM, I'd probably go with a value of like 5 for both StartingSpawnChance and LevelTenSpawnChance and a level requirement of 0.

Roger that. I was thinking of making it substantially higher like 1/3 of Stone. Which starts out as 66% Stone so it would be 44% Stone and 22% Coal (about equal to Copper) and then at level 10 42% Stone and 14% Coal (in between Iron and Copper). Coal is sold for the same amount as Iron Ore at Clint's, and it looks kind of like Stone with small black specks in it so having a lot of it still gives you the vibe of "vanilla" rocks. What do you think?

Iron Ore, despite being the same value as Coal, is easier to target farm in the Mines by going to certain floors. Sure, most of those same floors have Dust Sprites which drop coal, but it's in lesser amounts, and if you were farming Copper or Gold instead, you then have to go to the Iron floors too... so in short, I feel like the Coal nodes will really give the Quarry a great use even at lower mining levels. If you are worried about the top end of value being increased, I would even say some of the other stuff could be slightly toned down to allow for more coal while maintaining a similar total value.

Took longer than expected but I finished rewriting my version from scratch that we talked about. You are welcome to look at it and see how everything was done. My numbers are different than the old numbers and I may tweak them more at some point but they feel pretty balanced to me. I ended up with even less weight on coal than planned. 5 at start, 3 at end (if memory serves). One thing that is confusing is that the numbers are not percentages, they are weighted against each other. For every 5 ore you get you only need 1 coal, and those coal ore nodes drop a lot of coal.

So, for someone trying to choose between these two, what are the differences and how should we pick?

Unless SVE changes the Quarry maps it should. All this mods is spawn ores at certain X,Y coordinates of a map.

It looks like you change the name of the mod but only 1 of the 3 mods were changed to "better" (Better Four Corners Quarry). The other 2 mods are still "balanced" in the files ('Balanced Hilltop Quarry' and 'Balanced Mountain Quarry').

If I could make a suggestion, could you keep the naming convention the same for the 3 mods for ease of identification?

    E.G.
    Better Quarries: Four Corners
    Better Quarries: Hilltop
    Better Quarries: Mountain

As it is now, the mods don't all show up in the same spot in the Stardrop mod list.

Any hope of making this compatible with multiplayer? IE Make it so that it takes the highest mining level from all connected players, instead of just using the host's mining level?

Playing a multiplayer game and the host has zero interest in mining, so this mod does basically nothing. Meanwhile, my mining hit level 10 ages ago...

I don't know how to do that unfortunately. I might suggest a mod like Shared Exp: https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/14607

They don't spawn until Mining level 10, but yes it is quite easy to modify however you like. Open up the file with Notepad++ and take a look.

Perhaps a stupid question, but I wanted to check: Does this work with custom farm maps that replace the existing farms? IE I'm going to be using a custom Four Corners Farm map. I assume it would, but these things can be witchcraft sometimes, it feels.

This mod spawns things in a certain XY coordinate on the map. So as long as your map didn't change the location of the quarry it should work.

You can test it by starting a test save, using CJB Cheats to set your Mining level to 10, clear out the quarry, then sleep about 5-10 nights. If you see any endgame ores in there, the mod is working.

Oof, yea I'm pretty sure mine changes the location of the quarry (and technically has two), but I'll try it out just to make sure. I'll let you know how it goes hah

Huh, alright then. Took me a little more time fiddling with it to clarify some things because wow, the vanilla rate seems to have been buffed more than I've heard about. But then I went to the quarry and it became clear your mod wasn't applying to the quarry areas of my farm as it is in the actual quarry lol. That said, with how buffed Vanilla seems to have been, I'm not torn up about it, I think. It's definitely still worth having in the Quarry area for the bonus stuff. I should probably just check coordinates and such. I wonder if there's a way to make this sort of thing effect quarry/node spawns in these types of areas as a whole... But I imagine you've already looked into that lol. In any case, thanks for the response, and for the mod.

Can you link a screenshot of how the vanilla quarry looked when filled up? I did a test and it didn't seem very good still.

My vanilla 4 Corners Quarry with Mining Level 10 and Year 30 (through cheats), after 15 days, had 8 rocks, 6 Copper Nodes, and 2 Iron Nodes. That was it.

The modded one, after 5 days, had 2 Jade Nodes, 3 Gold Nodes, 3 Copper Nodes, 5 Iron Nodes, an Omnigeode Node, a Geode Node, a Magma Geode node, and 11 Rocks.

Your modded 4 Corners may already come with FTM and increased spawns?
