I enjoy fish ponds, but there have always been a few irritations I've had with them. They generally feel lackluster much too soon. Various mods have helped in the past, but nothing was ever wholistic, mixing mods often requires compatibility patches, and there always seemed to be aspects that were changed in ways I didn't enjoy. This is my version of improving fish ponds.
Mostly, I wanted fish ponds to stay quite similar to how the base game presents them, but add in some features to better capture how they can improve over time.
The primary features of this mod are:
Fish ponds retain the quality of fish you put in them.
Spawned fish can increase in quality.
Produced items can increase in quality.
Spawned fish at maximum capacity can become produce, if no existing produce exists.
Existing produced items are not removed if no new item is produced each day.
The chance of anything increasing in quality is based on:
The quality of fish in the pond,
How many seasons the pond has been in continuous use (not empty),
The owner's fishing level.
Each individual fish, season, and level has a chance to increase quality so multiple quality increases can occur for any item.
Configuration options are available to:
Toggle general features of this mod,
Chances of each fish/season/level to increase quality,
Select which items/categories can gain quality as produce.
Most of these changes are done as small tweaks to the base game's logic so compatibility with other mods should be quite high, but any mod that implements similar behavior will likely conflict. This mod is compatible with Walk Of Life - Profession Overhaul (basic testing and patching).
