Some bushes, especially in modded areas or at the edges of maps, are not "real" interactive bushes. They're basically just drawn on the background image. Destroyable Bushes can't remove those.
If you're not sure whether a bush is "real", try hitting it with an axe, or just right-clicking it. If it moves and makes noise, it's "real", and you should be able to remove it. If nothing happens, it's probably fake.
"I removed a bush and now I want it back, like the one for the quest A Winter Mystery. What do I do?"
If it doesn't regrow naturally (which takes 3 days by default), download the mod Reset Terrain Features. You can search for the latest version here, since it currently relies on unofficial updates.
Go to the area with the bushes you want back. Press the L key to bring up the mod menu. Click the "Bushes" checkbox. Click "Reset" to reset all of them in that area.
"How many hits does it take to remove a bush?"
6-10 hits with the basic axe, depending on bush size. Each upgrade deals slightly more damage, and the final axe only takes 1-2 hits.
There are also "Axe Damage Multiplier" and "Bush Type Durability" settings you can edit.

Hi does this mod work on 1.6.15 mobile? Before I only used mods on PC, this is the first time I install mods on my android phone so I wanna make sure that it'll work fine on my phone
Yes. If enough time has passed for a bush to grow back, it tries to grow back in the morning. If something is blocking its tiles and it can't grow back (buildings, objects, etc), it will try again the next morning instead. This repeats until it can actually grow back.
Please add a way to transplant bushes to the farm so we could work towards having all the bushes we want on our farm (maybe with regrowing taking a full season except in winter where it doesn't regrow, to prevent a massive free bush farm.
That's basically how the game handles them. Any medium-size bush will randomly grow berries in the right seasons, except for those with the "townBush" flag (the alternate sprite used by some in the town) and the ones drawn directly onto the background (can't be shaken/cut, usually near map edges).
So I accidentally destroyed a berry bush and when it grew back it became a useless bush. Tried the add_bush command on SMAPI same thing. Added the Reset Terrain Features mod and now all my berry bushes have turned into useless medium types. It doesn't matter how many times I clear/reset/generate, they just grow back into non-berry medium ones. Is there any other way to bring back the berry bushes?
The bushes from this mod and RTF should both produce berries, but they don't always respawn with berries already on them. Every medium bush (except in town or on the island) has a ~21% chance to grow bushes each night during berry season. Even if you tried sleeping, it's possible they just didn't happen to grow any.
If your bushes don't have the same sprite as other bushes when the berries are removed, though, that's a bug. Please upload your log file if that's the case (see the pinned post, at the bottom).
On the forest farm to the left where the hardwood logs grow you can remove the bushes but then you can't build anything over those tiles. I'm not sure if this is because of the mod or just in general you can't build there but I'd appreciate a reply if anyone knows! :)
With just this mod installed, I can cut down the forest farm's left-side bushes and build craftables or buildings on their tiles. (In general, this mod doesn't change the tiles underneath the bushes, so it depends on whatever settings the map creator used.)
I'd assume it's another mod causing that issue. Custom farm maps are the most likely, since they decide whether tiles can be walked/built on, but it's possible something else affected it.
The only other mod I have downloaded is the elevator in the skull cavern mod. I can't place down some things for certain tiles under removed bushes but can for other tiles so it's rather weird. It's no problem if you can't think of a reason, just a bit annoying cause I've planned out my farm layout and stuff :)

Thanks for your support and feedback, everyone.
"WhenBushesRegrow": null,
Or if you're using GMCM's in-game menu, find the "When Bushes Regrow" and delete the contents, leaving it blank.
If something prevents building and you want to do it anyway, you can add another mod like Build On Any Tile.

If you're interested, there are mods that should let you place things there anyway. I made Build On Any Tile for farm buildings, but others like PlacementPlus or Build and Place Anything Anywhere support objects and such too.
