Nice mod but I think the ESM should be a light master. I also assume the ESM is fully optional as it mostly only disables many of the vanilla music tracks.
I'm conflicted as to whether using Star Field Wars Music Overhaul - Exploration Cities and More or this mod. Both have music that is great and not so great. I think I'm gonna mix them.
the esm disables the few second long palette tracks which annoyingly interrupt your music when you're in space or exploring random planets. it doesn't disable any actual tracks. im keeping it as a full master esm for now cuz with the starfield mod index limit, it doesn't really matter if a plugin is small master or not. You reach the mod cap way before then. its also makes it easier to eidt the mod since i can use xedit instead of the sluggish ck
As of now, Starfield has a mod index cap of 256 which you can see with Starfield Engine Fixes. Most people's modlists hit that cap around 90-120 plugins, regardless of type. It mainly matters what other plugins they're overriding and the size of these plugins. A mod that overrides 5 plugins in your modlist has an index cap of 6, meaning that single plugin now takes the place of 6 plugins. Small master plugins function the exact same way and have a minimum index of 1 just like a full master esm.
So that means currently that there is no functional difference between full master and small masters besides the pain of having to maintain one and the struggles of not ruining your modlist by placing it before a full master that edits the same records
So in essence there is currently a realistic plugin limit of 90 to 120? That's wow! Way for Bethesda to shoot themselves (and other modders) into the foot with this! When the game was in development I was hoping Bethesda wouldn't be so stupid to just base it all on their outdated engine's limitations (the whole game "database" essentially being based on a very limited memory addressing structure). I thought, well, they had seven years time, let's hope they overhauled the whole thing. How wrong I was.
yeah its definitely a step down from other games with how they handle plugins :/ lets just hope that when they fix this, it doesnt cause some modpocalypse
as of today i have a mod count of 599 including this one and have no issues related to any limit of the loaded number of mods so it seems that they did indeed remove the cap of allowed .esm and .esp files you can load the only thing people need to watch out for now is if something in their load orders messes with another file if all can work together then any number of them should work my personal advice from yrs of modding bethesda games is never go over 1000 even if your game seems stable as anything that changes a single script in the game can lead to script lag and if more than 3 scripts fail to load then your game is pretty much broken to the point of needing a fresh reinstall
Congrats on the re-release. Again not a SW Fan but I know this is HOT for many. I just dropped for you the spread sheets I used to create my audio mod. It helped me to keep track of all the tracks. Here it is. Please delete this message after you read it. No self promotion intended. Enjoy! Its in Miscellaneous: HERE
oh man i used a similar one but this is way more extensive. you got all the unique ones like bars, londinion, etc. you even marked all the PCM ones. this is gonna be super useful and right on time. thank you so much!
Awesome! Ya all the tracks are Vorbis High unless it says PCM. Also PCM files are WAAAY bigger than Vorbis so keep that in mind. Feel free to ask if I can help I will. This is a good taste of music you got here. Please delete this message I don't want to be seem like self promoting my mod on you page lol. Thanks.
nah dont worry about it man, it aint self promotion at all. i'd actually prefer it stay here the comments for others to see. the way i originally made this mod in the first place months ago was by reading the old archived comments on other music mods xD. what you made here may one day help another modder with their music mod too. you have an insanely useful resource. again, thank you so much. you have no idea how clutch this was
