STARFIELD COMBAT ULTIMATE MOD

OVERVIEW

When Starfield was released, one of the features I missed was the survival mode, so I spent my time tinkering with gamesettings and creating executable files that I compiled in SCUM. Now, a year later, we already have mods like Starvival and a kind of native survival mode in the official game. Therefore, this new mod draws on the lessons learned from the first SCUM and the evolution of certain gamesettings that I believe improve the gaming experience in its current state.

This mod is made up of three almost automated files. The advantage is that it frees up ESM space since it doesn't use any plugins.

StarfieldCustom.ini incorporates a number of gameplay improvements.

StarfieldConsole.ini includes a number of shortcuts for features that can be interesting without losing lore and without being excessively game-breaking.

SCUM.txt is an executable that includes a number of improvements within each game and is harmless if not activated or activated during the game.

INSTALLATION

MANUAL INSTALLATION REQUIRED

StarfieldCustom.ini and StarfieldConsole.ini must be installed in the My Documents/Starfield folder.

Data folder (for Console Command Runner Updated mod), SCUM.txt, and all the optional files about weathers and encounters must be installed directly in the game folder.

They are safe to uninstall when you wish. And they can be modular and independent

If you do not want the changes from StarfieldCustom.ini or use your own file, make sure to set bUseConsoleHotkeys=1 within the [Menu] section. This will enable StarfieldConsole.ini to work.

If you only want the StarfieldCustom.ini tweaks you can install only the file.

If you want the hotkeys you can install just Console INI file (read two lines above).

There are optional files, for now Dynamic Weather and Random Encounters. They can be used standalone too.

But if you install the whole pack, you'll get the complete experience.

The first functionality of StarfieldConsole.ini (by pressing F1) is to run SCUM.txt at any time during the game. Although it is recommended to do so at the start of each game session.

MAIN FEATURES

StarfieldCustom.ini

  • Enables hold to use boostpack.
  • Allows for more decals and debris.
  • Allows you to rotate the camera slightly during dialogue and brings it a little closer to the interlocutor.
  • Some QoL adjustments to Starmap, visual effects, reflections and lighting regardless of your quality settings and hardly any impact on performance.
  • You can carry unconscious bodies, they don't have to be dead.
  • Increased playable area in each cell and increased cell buffering. Increased preload file size.
  • Less intrusive HUD messages, they last less time and are fewer. It also hides the stealth meter (you can activate it again within the Display category bHideStealthMeter=1 changing the 1 to 0). It also disables the guiding arrow to the objective making it totally necessary to guide yourself using the local map (you can activate it by modifying the seconds fGuideEffect_SecsUntilFadeOut=0.0 within the Interface section).
  • Increased the budget when loading LOD in order to obtain visual improvements without affecting performance too much.
  • Enables more POI on each planet and on each loaded local map always according to the biome and planet type. Fully compatible with PIP and other POI density mods, as they work at another level. Only works on unexplored planets as it happens during the first generation of the planet.
  • Disables Autosave.
  • Improves weather transitions, the overall visual appearance of the skies and stars. Gives a more immersive effect to weather phenomena such as wind and storms.
  • Removes limit on building workshop elements, improves tolerance of snap points between structures.
  • And another series of less newsworthy changes made manually in order to improve the gaming experience.

StarfieldConsole.ini

In addition to the SCUM.txt activator, it includes a series of shortcuts to new features that are intended to be lore friendly.

The assigned keys are the FUNCTION keys (F1-F12) and you can change the keys for others if you have configured your own Hotkeys. It is as easy as changing the first entry before "=" in the text file.

F1= Launch SCUM.

F2= Activate character editing mode in an immersive way (4000 credits). Enhance everywehere.

F3= Gym Day. For 1000 credits you can increase your Carryweight by 1. It seems small and expensive, but it is the way that it is not an exploit. Also, physical exercise does not have immediate results.

F4= Pioneer Investment. If you have 1,000,000 credits you have enough money to invest 650,000 (the cost of the perk) and increase your number of outposts up to 1000.

F5= Change quick save to hard save.

F6= Toggles unarmed.

F7= If you have Astra Coins, you can spend one of them to regain all your health thanks to a mysterious blessing.

F8= Continuing with the mysterious and ancient Astra Coins, you can spend 10 of them to achieve temporary immortality (for that game session). After all, who is the Starborn?

Please note that Astra Coins are used to obtain exclusive items from a certain vendor. Don't spend them all.

Added immersive and limited Fast travel:

F9= Paradiso

F10= New Atlantis

F11= Akila

F=12 Neon

SCUM.txt

SCUM is a total overhaul of the game that is not permanent. This means that it is activated whenever you want and nothing happens if it is not activated.

  • Player movement speed  increased up to 107 (you walk faster without jogging effect, you run faster. The default value is 100).
  • Damage received on the ship. In order to balance and make space combat a bit more enjoyable, it is modified just 0.15 down.
  • Improvements to general NPC AI, both companions and allies or rivals both in and out of combat. Some examples are that behaviors have been modified to acquire cover, flee, offer tactical support, call reinforcements... The search radius for triggers and the size of the sandbox for each NPC have been expanded, so companions out of combat will be more independent, NPCs will use items further away from them, they will talk more among themselves, some routines have been modified to make it seem like they are more autonomous.
  • Affinity values have been tweaked to make it more similar to Karma in other games like New Vegas. It is more difficult to make friends and it is easier to lose their favor. Space is a dangerous and untrustworthy place.
  • Physical aspects of the player have been modified. Oxygen regeneration rate, drainage during actions such as swimming, unarmed attack or sprinting. Maximum weight that the player can drag (140) and other small details.
  • Nerfed XP gain and you only gain 1HP per level, so even at very, very high levels you'll feel in danger. Attention: This feature in already started games can cause the character to gain negative XP points so they won't level up any further. To solve this and once SCUM is loaded in your game, in the Character Sheet you'll see the number of XP they have just below the level bar. If you see that the value is negative, you can open the console and type "player.modav experience [and add the value not negative resetting the level XP value] so you can load and enjoy SCUM in any game.
  • Nearly 600 combat entries have been modified. Enemies are therefore much smarter, more aggressive and open fire when they see you from further away. In addition, their escape system, cover, reinforcements, among others, have been worked on, so expect tough and realistic combats. Combat formations with companions have also been retouched, giving you the feeling that they are more autonomous and intelligent during the fight.
  • The crime and persuasion section has been modified in accordance with the aforementioned principles of the Karma system. Increased difficulty in bribery and extortion depending on the level of the target. Less permissiveness towards theft and break-ins. More resentment on the part of the victims and increased fear in case of success.
  • Damage multipliers have been revised and amputation effects as well, similar to locational damage.
  • Daylight hours and day/night changes have been slightly modified, extending cycles and matching NPC cycles (breakfast, lunch, dinner).
  • Camera during dialogues and eye adaption in interiors has been improved too.
  • Economy overhauled. More items (only affects loaded NPCs) to sell.
  • Ships are now much faster.
  • The leveled zones now have increased NPC spawn levels up to 999. For zone 1, the values are between level 10 and 20, and for zone 9, the levels are 300 to 999 and score with the player up to +30 player level.
  • Lockpicking has been tweaked to be more challenging and with multiple key points for each level.
  • Multiple upgrades unlocked when building your ship. More possible modules (up to 1500) and greater variety of them, plus subtle improvements to the docking points. Maintaining a system of requirements and skills.
  • You can build up to 50 outposts at the start.
  • Less chance to loot legendary items from enemies.
  • Up to 120 simultaneous combatants in combat and more persistent when following the player through doors.
  • Improvements to system habitability. Slight increase in life span based on O2 level. Higher biomes, greater variety of mountains and depressions.
  • Timescale set to 6 (ground and space).
  • Changed scanner functionality. You need more scans to get 100% of plants and animals. Fewer points are given to botany and zoology, so the learning process is slightly flatter. You need more time to learn a biome, with the dangers that can entail.
  • Significantly increased the probability of space encounters, increasing the feeling of living in a living, populated universe, while maintaining solitude in certain hostile environments.
  • Improved flight camera for large ships.
  • Unlocked class M modules.
  • Improved enemy ship AI, both in attack and strategy. Slower ship repair during combat. And slower effect when entering the ship modules menu (VATS style).
  • Improved stealth system. Detection, perception, environmental situations (day, night, wetness, sounds, distance...).
  • Better weather transitions and more natural duration of them.
  • Edited and customized stats for most companions and relevant NPCs. All of them now have SPECIAL points and skills according to their lore.
  • Food does not heal and the chemical effects are less powerful.

As it is an executable, it does not have any incompatibility issues. All feedbacks will be welcome.
