Now that this new version/update is an .esm file...does that mean it's compatible with Plugins.txt Enabler?
EDIT: This mod's new update (.ESM version) is compatible with Plugins.txt Enabler! Woohoo! \o/ ----------------------------------------------------- For those using Plugins.txt Enabler : 1) Install the mod as you normally would with any .ESM/.ESP file (I'm assuming you already know, if you're using Plugins.txt Enabler) ; or just follow the install instructions on the description page. 2) Skip Step 5. where you do the "sTestFile1=..." in the .ini edit, and instead... 3) Open your Plugins.txt file and add the line: *FlyingJetpack.esm And you should be good to go! -----------------------------------------------------
But OMG...
I couldn't get this mod to work when I first tried the new (.ESM) update... followed the instructions to the T (which I was already familiar with anyways), and still my jetpack was depleting like vanilla. However, at first I tried installing via the Plugins.txt Enabler method... wasn't working... *scritching head*...then tried the normal method using "sTestFile1=..." ...still wasn't working, and on top of that, using that method also disabled all my Plugins.txt Enabler mods (lol) ...*starting to pull my hair out*... then I realized I forgot to delete the old files from the previous version (jetpack.txt and jetpackreset.txt)... eureka! Now it will work! ...still didn't work... *rolls face on keyboard and pulls hair out more*... then I went back and tried the Plugins.txt Enabler method again, one last try... also so that all my other mods using Plugins.txt Enabler would also work again... jetpack was still behaving as vanilla... UGH... then out of pure curiosity... I went into inventory, unequipped my jetpack and then re-equipped it... OMFG, MOD NOW WORKS (AGAIN) AS ADVERTISED!!!*facepalms* \o/ xD LMAO!!!
Side Note: When you uninstall the previous version (before the .ESM update), and before you remove all the old files, don't forget to also do the console command: bat jetpackreset , and then save your game!
Anyone else who is still struggling to get this to run despite the help here, try out adding the following line to your StarfieldCustom.ini :
[Boostpack] bUsePressAndHoldControls=1
That did it for me. The install description is a bite vague here and I assumed that I don't needed the ini.-File since I already had one. But it's actually this entry that matters.
Now it works perfectly fine, so thank you very much for this mod.
Woohoo, still working as advertised, with the recent/new Starfield Update 1.15.216! \o/ (Steam / Manual installation)
Still the goat of all jetpack mods for Starfield! Again, THANK YOUGM Custom Sauces, for making this frickin' awesome and essential mod!! Still hella appreciatin' ya!!
Reminder For any new players who may be confused about the install instructions, due to being semi-outdated now:
Ignore the Step regarding the "sTestFile1=" entry to be added into the StarfieldCustom.ini file. (In the current modding landscape for Starfield, the "sTestFile=" method is strongly recommended to avoid using, as it may cause problems/errors/conflicts.)
DO NOT install Plugins.txt Enabler, it is no longer needed, as it was deprecated as of game version 1.12.30. (Beth incorporated its functionality natively into the vanilla base game.)
Manual Installation:

1) Manual download one archive from either the Main files, or the Optional files.
2) Extract the file FlyingJetpack.esm into your game's root directory, into the Data folder. ( Example: "F:\...\steamapps\common\Starfield\Data" )
3) Go to your StarfieldCustom.ini file (located in "C:\Users\<name>\Documents\My Games\Starfield") and add the following entry: [Boostpack] bUsePressAndHoldControls=1 ( Note: If you do not have a StarfieldCustom.ini file, simply create one, using any text editor, such as Notepad or Notepad++. ) Example of a StarfieldCustom.ini file:
4) Enable the mod: Option A - Add the entry *FlyingJetpack.esm (including the asterisk "*") into your Plugins.txt file. ( Plugins.txt file is located in "C:\Users\muram\AppData\Local\Starfield" ) Example of a Plugins.txt file:

Option B - Go in-game and use the CREATIONS Load Order screen to Enable the mod.
5) Go in-game and Bind an Alternate Key for Jump (LAlt recommended).
(Reached the text count limit on original post, lol!)
Side Note: If you installed this mod and load a save, and you have a jetpack equipped, and the mod does not work...un-equip and re-equip your jetpack, and the mod should start working.
Side Note 2: If this is your very first time installing a mod, and you have not done so already (or the StarfieldCustom.ini file does not exist), create a StarfieldCustom.ini file (using any text editor, such as Notepad or Notepad++), and place the following entry: [Archive] bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 sResourceDataDirsFinal= And place the StarfieldCustom.ini file in the following location: C:\Users\<name>\Documents\My Games\Starfield
Alternatively: You can also follow the instructions of installing the StarfieldCustom.ini file from the Main files downloads, but if you do this, make sure you DELETE the following entries from the file: [Archive] bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 sResourceDataDirsFinal=
[Boostpack] bUsePressAndHoldControls=1
[General] sTestFile1=FlyingJetpack.esm*DELETE entirely these lines in red
Thanks for this. I did struggle a little installing and getting it to work. - had to delete the "sTestFile1=" line in StarfieldCustom.ini or it canceled my other mods. - had to add the "jump alt key". I didn't understand this part : you have to go to bindings and assign the left alt key to the second option for jump. I thought it would just do the same thing but turns out it has a different fonction which is a forward jump. - had to switch booster packs, the balanced booster really works well for this. Don't use the power booster. - had to cheat for the booster gage (infinite booster)
So I'm having an issue maybe someone can help me with. I had not played starfield in a while, since before creations was released. I also got another computer so my old files were still on my game drive. the game plays fine except for the jetpack mod as its the only one installed. On the previous playthrough with the same files and everything it worked fine. after going through the unity, it was almost like starting a new game. haven't started a new playthrough in quite a while. Anyway once i started the new playthrough the jetpack mod no longer works. Any ideas? the custom ini is correct. the esm file is in the data folder. when i try to use the jetpack it shoots me across the map and crashes the game. any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.
Thank you, so much better. I'm using your 600 (less cost) but plan to give myself more upgrades to 900 & 1200 as I update the skill (kind of RP it). Makes the boost pack useful and fun now. Thanks again.
I think I've finally got a decent controller configuration for this as well thanks to Steam Input. Not perfect but with practice it is way better than no controller option. Left Stick directional flying by holding Y and moving Left stick. TY in advance & enjoy if it helps.
HOLD Y+Left Stick Direction for directional control. ALT Jump key must be bound to 'RAlt' in game menu under BINDINGS keyboard settings to match screenshots (or adjust as desired). Steam Input Configuration. Select the default Left Joystick Behavior dropdown and choose ' Create a mode shift' then set it up per screenshots. Click the gear and choose 'Add extra command' for each direction so you have 2 commands per direction then set as seen.
Click the Gear next to 'Directional Pad' after you have set that as the drop-down for the mode shift to get this screen. Ive found '4-Way (No Overlap)' & 'Cross Fade' to be the best choices, '8 Way (overlap)' & 'Analog Emulation' seemed not as reliable and harder to control. YMMV.
Credits: cabitasian on reddit for the original idea 'Utilizing Steam Input to ADD HORIZONTAL THRUST for controllers (All Directions)' using a different layout: Mode Shift of Hold Left Stick Click + (Y,B,A,X) as direction controls.
After some testing I am really liking this layout with this mod. I overloaded my character's inventory for the tests and I can achieve the same distance now (within 1 or 2 meters) consistently on the controller that I can achieve via KB/M. I had to fill my inventory because even with 600 less cost and the right technique you can fly forever. However, thanks to Bethesda logic we do have a valid method of comparison. As you stay in the air with too much weight and keep moving forward, just like running it drains oxygen. The oxygen bar becomes our distance goal marker. You'd think being overweight and moving forward would drain the jetpack's fuel faster, but instead it drains oxygen directly from your body because it happens even on planets where you can go naked.
this mod is great one of the best and my fav but i cannot use it right now it breaks my plugins every time i install it making them all un activate automatically and not run in game took me 3 days to narrow down this mod being the direct cause but if i un install this wa laa everything's back to running order again just wanted to let everyone know
Hey, I usually don't comment on Nexus - but I wanted to let you know when you say "wa laa," what you're actually trying to say is "Voila." Have a great day!
I'm pretty sure there's been convos about that, just use the "Search Comment" feature, input box is above the "Comment" button, and do a search for "controller". Look for a post by wildy88, but also check the other posts that come up.
EDIT: Whoops, I only just noticed the date of the original post I replied to, durr, lol. xP
any way to keep the player character in that original boost position? it only lasts as long as the original boost then starts flailing idk how to make mods but i image it should be easy to just keep that position for the duration of the hold
